This Democrat owes the American people an apology

Dear Friend:

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-HI, owes the American people an apology.

As unlikely as it may be, Gabbard, a largely unknown Democrat representing part of Honolulu in the US House, is running for president. In announcing her longshot campaign earlier this week, the 37-year old Gabbard apologized for "wrong" and "hurtful" statements she made years ago. What was she talking about? In the 1990s, Gabbard joined with her father, a devout Christian, to campaign for a ballot initiative defining marriage as solely the union of one man and one woman.

Now, as a candidate in the Democrat presidential primary Gabbard is trapped by the identity politics that has captured her party and seems to feel that her candidacy would be doomed by LGBT extremists unless she separates herself from her prior beliefs. So, Gabbard adopted the familiar, "I've evolved," line used by Democrats from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on down to local officeholders.

TELL CONGRESSWOMAN GABBARD TO APOLOGIZE

But Gabbard didn't stop there. In her statement, she said that she's come to understand that Christian beliefs in traditional marriage are at odds with the biblical principle that "every person is a child of God and equally loved by God." She explains in her apology, "For a period of my life I didn’t see the contradiction in those beliefs."

In other words, Rep. Gabbard is saying that countless millions of Americans are living a contradiction in their observance of Christianity by adhering to the biblical understanding of marriage as one man and one woman.

For this, we demand an apology from Rep. Gabbard. Please sign our petition demanding that Rep. Tulsi Gabbard apologize to Christians and all people of good will who support traditional marriage. Rather than being a "contradiction" of biblical beliefs, revering marriage as the union of one man and one woman is unquestionably affirmed in the bible, created by God at the beginning of time, and directly articulated by Jesus Christ himself in the Gospel of Matthew.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is entitled to her mistaken beliefs. If she chooses to abandon the universal, biblical truth of marriage and human sexuality in favor of cultural vicissitudes, that is her choice. But what she is not entitled to do is to claim that she, Tulsi Gabbard, has somehow discovered an underlying contradiction in the bible and that true Christianity requires an acceptance of that which the bible expressly rejects.

Please sign our petition demanding that Rep. Gabbard apologize for insulting Americans for holding Christian beliefs about marriage and for her suggestion that true Christianity calls for accepting homosexual marriage.

You know, when the issue of same-sex 'marriage' was initially being debated, LGBT activists called for tolerance, acceptance and inclusion. That has been replaced with cultural imperialism where anyone who disagrees with them is labeled a bigot, homophobe and hater. For rank political purposes, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has taken this approach to a new level, not only labeling support for marriage "wrong" and "hurtful," but also anti-Christian and a biblical contradiction.

Her attitude is absurd and insulting, and should be condemned. Please sign our petition today letting her know that you do not appreciate her attempt to appropriate biblical truths for a political purpose, and in the process insult Christians for believing what the bible teaches, that marriage between one man and one woman was instituted by God at the beginning of time.

Thank you for standing with us in support of marriage.

Faithfully,
