The deadline is fast approaching

Dear Friends—We face a hard deadline coming up at midnight on Tuesday when the offer by a generous supporter to match every contribution to NOM, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $40,000 comes to an end. We urgently need those funds to press forward with our agenda of fighting for the truth of marriage, gender and religious liberty.  We're thousands of dollars short of our goal, and we need everyone to step up now to help. Can I count on you?

>>> I will contribute $15

>>> I will contribute $25

>>> I will contribute $50

>>> I will contribute $100

>>> I will contribute $250 or more

NOM has worked hard every day to advance our agenda, including working with the Trump Administration, Congress, state legislatures, the courts and in the court of public opinion. We're also pouring everything we can into the confirmation fight for Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

We are a lean and effective grassroots organization that is making a real difference, but we are not a wealthy group. We do not have reserve funds on hand to tap when we are running low, which is the case we face today. We've expended everything we have on the cause, and we urgently need to replenish our coffers. That's why this $40,000 matching gift opportunity is so critical and why I am so concerned that we are thousands of dollars short of the goal with just a few short days left before this offer ends. Will you help us with a contribution today?

>>> I'm in for $15

>>> I'm in for $25

>>> I'm in for $50

>>> I'm in for $100

>>> I'm in for $250 or more

Working together we have accomplished a great deal, but there is so much more that needs to be done. Please prayerfully consider what you can give at this critical time. Whatever you can do, whether just a few dollars or a few hundred dollars or more, please act today. All contributions will double in size and effectiveness because of the match.

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement and support.

Same old dirty tricks...

Dear Friend—When I wrote to you last week about our focus on securing the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the US Supreme Court, I said that the radical left and their allies among Senate Democrats were determined to stop him at all costs and I feared that we hadn't seen the last of their shenanigans. Just a couple of days later, right on cue, came the dirty trick they are hoping will derail or at least delay Kavanaugh's confirmation, the infamous "sexual assault" allegation against him from his time as a high school student!

This is so predictable. They did the same thing against Clarence Thomas when he was nominated to the Supreme Court decades ago. They tried to use this against President Trump in the 2016 presidential election. And now they are using it against a supremely qualified nominee, someone who is a devout believer in Jesus Christ, who devotes himself as a volunteer to the less fortunate, who dearly loves his wife and family and who has gone out of his way to promote and mentor young women who wish to pursue a career in the law.

The Brett Kavanaugh we know bears no resemblance to the person he is accused of being by Dianne Feinstein, Cory Booker, and their cronies in the Senate.

We are determined to fight this dirty trick and redouble our efforts to confirm Judge Kavanaugh. Will you help?

>>> I will give $15 to fight for Judge Kavanaugh

>>> I will give $25 to fight for Judge Kavanaugh

>>> I will give $50 to fight for Judge Kavanaugh

>>> I will give $100 to fight for Judge Kavanaugh

>>> I will give $250 or more to fight for Judge Kavanaugh

Look, none of us knows what happened that night back in 1982 when it is alleged that Brett Kavanaugh tried to force a girl at a party into unwanted sexual conduct. We weren't there. But we do know a few things about the situation:

  • First, Brett Kavanaugh knows what happened and he vehemently denies the charges with no ifs, ands or buts about it. He says flatly they did not happen and he has no recollection of this woman whatsoever.
  • Second, the allegation was known to Democrats for months and they sat on it until now, the eve of the confirmation vote. This smacks of desperation politics, something intentionally designed as a dirty trick to sully the reputation of a fine man who has been universally praised as an outstanding jurist.
  • Third, the accusations have gaping holes and key detailed unremembered, while at the same time the names of two people have been revealed who could supposedly corroborate the fact that the incident took place. Yet both these individuals deny they have any knowledge of this event.
  • Fourth, the lawyer representing the accuser is an infamous partisan Democrat who shows ever sign of being politically motivated.

When news of the allegations first surfaced, Democrats demanded that the accuser be heard and that her charges be given a fair hearing. I completely agree that she is entitled to have her accusation heard by the Senate Judiciary Committee. Indeed, such a hearing has been scheduled for this coming Monday. However, as I write this, the accuser's attorney is saying she will not testify until there is a new independent investigation of the charges by the FBI. Of course, if an investigation was appropriate (the FBI says it is not), that would take weeks or months, giving the Democrats a chance to take control of the US Senate in the midterm elections.

Do you smell the stench of a dirty trick like I do, something that stinks of 'delay and derail'? It is unadulterated hypocrisy for Democrats to sit on an allegation for months and then on the eve of the vote demand an investigation.

We've got to marshal every resource possible to continue to push for the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh. Mr. Kavanaugh is prepared to address the issues head on this coming Monday if the hearing goes forward. If the accuser fails to show, then the Judiciary Committee will vote next Wednesday, and the nomination will then go to the full Senate shortly thereafter.

Please help us with an immediate gift to redouble our work in support of Judge Kavanaugh. We've already generated thousands of contacts with key Senators who hold the confirmation in their hands, but now we've got to do even more.

Every dollar that you give will be matched, dollar for dollar throughout the confirmation process, up to a total of $40,000. Can you help us with a generous gift at this crucial time?

>>> I'm in for $15

>>> I'm in for $25

>>> I'm in for $50

>>> I'm in for $100

>>> I'm in for $250 or more

Despite this last minute dirty trick, the Kavanaugh confirmation still looks promising, but only if NOM and others are able to keep up our push for this good and decent man, someone who is supremely qualified to serve on our country's highest court.

Please do what you can to help at this critical time. Every donation will double thanks to the generous matching gift opportunity that will be in place until the end of the confirmation process.

Thank you for helping us stand and fight for fairness and the rule of law, and against dirty tricks like what we are seeing now from the left.

Faithfully,

Kavanaugh Kills It

Dear Friend—As I am sure you know, Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh absolutely killed it last week in his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee. He was composed, articulate, thoughtful and likeable. His appearance reinforced his brilliance as a jurist and his decency as a human being. Every attempt by partisan Democrats and rowdy protestors to derail his nomination fell completely flat. Many, like Sen. Cory Booker and Sen. Kamala Harris, embarrassed themselves in the process of trying.

With the hearings now concluded, the confirmation process will move to the next step. There will be a formal vote taken by the Judiciary Committee to advance his nomination to the Senate Floor, and then the full Senate will vote on his confirmation.

Things are looking good for us, but we can't take anything for granted. We must ramp up our contacts with the six Democrats we've targeted to support Judge Kavanaugh, but doing so will cost a considerable sum.

We’ve already generated thousands of grassroots contacts to the six Democratic Senators we believe might support Judge Kavanaugh (these are Senators Manchin, Heitkamp, McCaskill, Donnelly, Jones and Tester). But if we are able to raise more funds, we can significantly increase those contacts.

Fortunately, every donation we receive through the end of the confirmation process will be matched dollar for dollar, up to a total match of $40,000! That means that whatever you can afford to give will double in size and effectiveness. Can I count on you to make an immediate financial contribution to help us close the deal with the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh?

>>> I'm in for $15

>>> I'm in for $25

>>> I'm in for $50

>>> I'm in for $100

>>> I'm in for $250 or more

We're in the homestretch now of one of the most important things we can do to restore marriage to our nation's laws, uphold life and protect religious liberty. With Judge Kavanaugh's confirmation, we will have a pro-marriage, pro-family majority on the Supreme Court.

Please help us do everything in our power to continue to fight for the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. So much is riding on it. Whatever you can give will be matched dollar for dollar.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support.

Freedom to Marry Email

Thanks, Evan!

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2018

Dear Friends:

"If you thought the National Organization for Marriage disappeared once we won the freedom to marry in 2015, think again."

These are the words of Evan Wolfson, the gay rights activist and lawyer behind "Freedom to Marry" - which is now "Freedom to Marry Global." These words appear in his latest fundraising appeal, where he shares that efforts to redefine marriage in Taiwan are faltering due to pro-marriage advocates there adopting strategies from NOM's winning playbook! In Evan's biased words of explanation, "Under the instigation of NOM’s Brian Brown and others, anti-LGBT forces are scheming to block [a court ruling redefining marriage] from ever taking effect."

Donate to Support NOM's Work Today!

Well, Evan is right about this much: NOM is not only the leading advocacy organization in the United States fighting to preserve and defend marriage, but globally: people do look to us and our strategies for inspiration in waging their own defense of marriage and family.

Where Evan goes wrong in his desperate, shrill fundraising missive is his alternate version of history where he claims he and his colleagues "defeated" NOM's "Prop 8-style playbook" here in the US and that they're prepared to do it again in Taiwan. What Evan and his cronies actually did was use the courts to make an end-run around the democratic and political process, and invalidate the votes of over 50 million Americans in a majority of states! The truth that this gay activist doesn't want you to recall is that NOM and our side of this critical battle won virtually every battle in every state to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman. We routed Freedom to Marry and their allies in state votes on marriage.

Make a Gift to NOM Today

Evan is scared, you see, because he knows this "victory" in the US was a cheat and stolen. He is worried that in other countries the democratic process might be allowed to work as it is supposed to work, and that he and his friends won't be able to manipulate the courts to finally do their bidding.

He is also scared - or he should be - that here at home the court has undergone some drastic changes under President Trump's administration. At every level - from local district courts through the Circuit Courts of Appeals, right up the Supreme Court - true constitutionalist jurists have been filling vacancies left by activist judges... and this doesn't bode well for the future of such wrongly-decided verdicts as Obergefell. Evan knows that a future Supreme Court might find the reasoning of Justice Kennedy's decision (that the late Justice Scalia colorfully described as "the mystical aphorisms of the fortune cookie") to be lacking in Constitutional wisdom and jurisprudence.

So, you see, this is why it is crucial that NOM continue fighting. Our opponents, those who foisted a redefinition of marriage on the United States and are now exporting their ideology across the world, know that we are a formidable threat to their radical agenda! Will you re-commit today to standing with us and making sure that we continue to present such a challenge to that agenda?

Every dollar you donate today will be instantly matched, so there really couldn't be a better time to make such a re-commitment.

>>> Donate $25 today to keep NOM in action

>>> Donate $50 today to keep NOM in action

>>> Donate $100 today to keep NOM in action

>>> Donate $250 or more today to keep NOM in action

Your support is what allows NOM to continue to do our work. And ironically one of the best indications of how important and effective this work still is has been given to us by one of our most determined opponents! I guess all I can say is, thanks Evan!

I do really want to thank you, though, our friends and allies, for your continued dedication to and support of NOM's crucial role in protecting and safeguarding our values. I am immensely honored and humbled that we continue to be a beacon and example to all those around the world who share our concern. We couldn't do it without your help!

A mockery of democracy...

It sure didn't take long for radical leftists to show their hand: it's their plan to make a mockery of the confirmation hearing of Judge Brett Kavanaugh, attempting to delay and obfuscate at every opportunity. We're not going to let them get away with it.

Within seconds of Chairman Chuck Grassley opening the hearing and welcoming Judge Kavanaugh and his family, Democratic Senator Kamala Harris of California interrupted him, demanding a delay in the hearing so that Democrats could further review documents related to Kavanaugh's service in government. What a sham! Consider this:

Kamala Harris announced her opposition to Judge Kavanaugh within seconds of his nomination, long before a single document was available to her. She has no legitimate interest in studying documents; she is a partisan hack who cares only about keeping a superbly qualified conservative nominee off the Supreme Court.
Help Us Fight to Confirm Judge Kavanaugh!
The Democrats appear to be in cahoots with activist groups who have packed the hearing room with hecklers and demonstrators. These hecklers are constantly interrupting, shouting insults, demanding the hearing be cancelled. When Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal made a play to the crowd, himself interrupting Chairman Grassley with a motion to adjourn the hearing, the hecklers broke into hoots and howls of approval, as if they were at some sort of sporting event.

This is what we are up against and why we have fought so hard for the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. We are not going to be intimidatedby leftist radicals who prefer chaos to the rule of law; who are determined to impose their extremist views on the country regardless of what the Constitution requires.

I'm thrilled to announce that the $40,000 matching grant challenge made available to us by a generous supporter has now been extended until Judge Kavanaugh is confirmed! This supporter shares our disgust at the behavior of the left who are resorting to intimidation and harassment, refusing to allow the American people to hear from this superbly qualified judge.

Will you help us fight for a man who will uphold the Constitution, stand for the rule of law and fight to restore marriage to our nation's laws?

     >>> I will give $15 to fight for Judge Kavanaugh

     >>> I will give $25 to fight for Judge Kavanaugh

     >>> I will give $50 to fight for Judge Kavanaugh

     >>> I will give $100 to fight for Judge Kavanaugh

     >>> I will give $250 to fight for Judge Kavanaugh

There is nothing more important to the cause of marriage, life and religious liberty than to have a pro-family majority on the US Supreme Court. When Judge Kavanaugh is confirmed, we will have that majority.

The opening day of hearings shows that we are in for an incredible fight against the left. They appear ready to shred the fabric of democracy and upend the rule of law. It's up to us to help rally the American people in support of this nominee who the American Bar Association has unanimously stated is thoroughly qualified to serve on the Supreme Court.

Please help us today as we gird for an intense, unprecedented battle ahead. The stakes couldn't be higher. We need your help to be successful.

Faithfully,

Brian S Brown
