Help us capitalize on our momentum

Dear Marriage Supporter — As you know, NOM won a tremendous victory this week in Alabama with the election of Judge Roy Moore as the GOP nominee for US Senate. NOM strongly supported Judge Moore against the incumbent appointed Senator, bucking the party establishment and even President Trump in the process. We did so because Roy Moore has been a consistent, stalwart champion for marriage and because he will actually act on our issues in Washington, rather than just talk about doing something. Judge Moore must face the Democrat nominee in December, but that contest is largely a formality in deep-red Alabama.

NOM's work in support of Judge Moore has captured national attention. An article I wrote was published yesterday by The Daily Caller that made the case that Roy Moore's election should be a wake-up call to every Republican leader in Washington. In it, I laid out the lessons of Roy Moore's victory, chief among them: "It's not about force of personality, it's about force of policy. It's not about posturing, it's about fulfilling promises. And it's not about empty talk, it's about delivering results."

We need to capitalize on our momentum, and I need your help to do so. Can you make a generous financial gift today so that we can press forward with our campaign to end discrimination facing individuals, small businesses, charities and churches that do not wish to participate in same-sex ceremonies that violate their religious beliefs?

NOM's policy focus during the balance of the year is two-fold:

  1. Urge President Trump to issue a comprehensive Executive Order on religious liberty that would prevent the government from forcing people of faith to participate in same-sex ceremonies that violate their deeply held religious beliefs. Such an order would immediately put an end to the federal government's targeting of bakers, florists, pastors, inn keepers, small businesses, churches and charities because of their beliefs about marriage.

  2. Urge Congress to introduce and pass the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) to make permanent the kinds of legal protections that would be contained in an Executive Order from President Trump.

We've got momentum, but we also have a big job ahead to convince our elected leaders to act. Please help us today with these critical action steps:

  1. Make a generous financial contribution to NOM so that we can capitalize on our momentum and move forward in enacting our agenda.

  2. Call President Trump, Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Leader Mitch McConnell to urge them to act to protect the religious liberty rights of marriage supporters. You can get more background info and the phone numbers to call in this important one minute video, which I urge you to watch.

NOM has had some tremendous successes this year, and Judge Moore's victory this week just adds to our momentum. We're grateful to you for your support which makes our work possible, and we would appreciate anything you can do today to help us take advantage of the momentum we have.

Faithfully,

Brian S Brown

PS – If you haven't yet watched our video calling for Americans to call our elected leaders demanding action, you can watch it here. Then forward it to all your friends, family and contacts and ask them to get involved. Thank you.
