BREAKING: Big Win As Trump Bans Transgendered in Military

In a major announcement, President Trump announced this morning via Twitter that he has banned so-called transgendered individuals from serving in any capacity in the military. NOM has helped lead a nationwide grassroots movement to oppose the gender ideology of former President Obama and the left, which has attempted to force the transgender agenda on the military, public school children and all institutions of government. Recently, we helped mobilize a massive grassroots push back against 23 Republican members of the House of Representatives who opposed efforts to stop saddling taxpayers with the huge cost of sex changes surgeries and other treatments for transgendered people who join the military.

This is a great victory for taxpayers, and for common sense. The medical science is clear, nobody is born such that they are the opposite sex "trapped in the wrong body." Those who feel this way suffer from a disorder called "gender dysphoria." They deserve our concerns and prayers, but they are not entitled to force all of society to abandon reality to accommodate their disorder, and they are not entitled to force taxpayers to pay for sex-change surgeries and other expensive 'treatments.'

President Trump cited "the tremendous medical costs and disruption" that transgendered individuals would cause the military. Kudos to him for having the courage to stand up to the left on this issue, who have relentlessly used the power of government to push the transgender agenda on society.

Mr. Trump is correct to cite not only the costs but the disruption that the transgender agenda causes. These gender-confused individuals are a tiny fraction of the population, yet everyone else is expected to succumb to their demands or risk being labeled a bigot, homophobe or worse. They expect school children, women and victims of sexual abuse to risk their safety and privacy by allowing biological men into intimate areas reserved for women and girls. Massive fake outrage has been manufactured by LGBT extremist groups and their allies in government, media, large corporations and big-time sports leagues against anyone who resists.

We’re encouraged by this development and call on President Trump to also protect individuals, churches, nonprofit groups and people of faith from the same cost and disruption that he is concerned about transgender individuals causing in the military. As a candidate, he repeatedly promised to sign an Executive Order to protect the religious liberty rights of people of faith, including the right to continue to uphold the truth of gender, marriage and the sanctity of life. We urge him to act to fulfill that promise and we commend him for the actions he’s taken today.

Join Thousands of Others to Hold the 23 Republicans Accountable for Their Transgender Vote

Americans who believe in the bible and in science were dealt an insulting blow recently when 23 incumbent Republican members of the US House of Representatives voted to force taxpayers to pay for transgender sex-change surgeries for members of the military.

This is a shocking betrayal of both science and the Created Order, not to mention just plain dumb. There is no way that our military should be forced to accept a gender-confused individual who can then turn right around and demand that taxpayers pay for a sex-change!

And yet, that is the position that these 23 foolhardy Republican lawmakers have taken, and the GOP leadership of Paul Ryan and Kevin McCarthy have done nothing to stop it.

If the Republican leadership won't put a stop to this gender insanity, it's up to us at NOM to do so. NOM is fighting the transgender ideology at every level – in the military, in our public schools, in the courts and in the court of public opinion, but we need your help to be successful. Can I count on your support today?

Our push back against the 23 Republicans who voted to force taxpayers to pay for transgender sex changes for military personnel is beginning to have an effect. Over four thousand people have signed our petition to these Republican lawmakers letting them know that we intend to hold them accountable for their betrayal. They are being inundated with emails and calls, but we need to keep the pressure on.

Please sign our petition today to let these 23 Republicans know that you oppose their vote and will hold them accountable.

The science is clear: Nobody is born such that they are the opposite sex "trapped in the wrong body." People who believe they are the wrong gender suffer from a disorder called "gender dysphoria."

The Created Order is clear: God made us male and female. He knew us even before he formed us.

Common sense is clear: Taxpayers should not be on the hook for sex change surgeries, period.

You can help us today to hold the GOP accountable and to defend the truth of gender by taking two simple steps: make a financial contribution to support NOM so that we have the resources we need to be successful; and sign our petition to the 23 Republicans who need to get the message that it's not OK to ignore science, scripture and common sense to saddle taxpayers with the massive expense of sex-change surgeries for transgendered military personnel. Please act today.

Sign Our Petition to Hold the 23 Republicans Accountable for Their Transgender Vote

Late last week, 23 incumbent Republican members of the US House of Representatives voted to force taxpayers to pay for transgender sex-change surgeries for members of the military. Can you imagine?! Why should a gender-confused person be able to enlist in the military and then demand that taxpayers pay for a sex-change? The answer is obvious -- they shouldn't. The military exists to defend the national interests of our country, not to help advance a dangerous social experiment in gender ideology that President Obama pushed on the country at the behest of LGBT extremists.

We must hold these clueless Republicans who have betrayed the American people and put the Obama gender agenda ahead of the interests of taxpayers and national security. Please sign our petition today to let these 23 Republicans know that you oppose their vote and will hold them accountable.

The scientific evidence is clear that nobody is born such that they are the opposite sex "trapped in the wrong body." According to medical science, people who believe they are the wrong gender suffer from a disorder called "gender dysphoria." They deserve our compassion and prayers, but they are not entitled to free sex-change surgeries courtesy of the US taxpayer.

NOM is fighting the transgender ideology at every level – in the military, in our public schools, in the courts and in the court of public opinion. The response from LGBT extremists has been to vilify us, call us "bigots" and a "hate group," damage our property, assault our team members, and attempt to silence us. But their campaign of intimidation has failed – we will never be silenced in speaking the truth about gender, marriage, human sexuality and related issues. We stand united as people of faith and will fight for our collective rights to live out these truths without fear of retribution or retaliation.

Please help NOM to continue to be effective advocates for you and all those who believe in the truth of marriage. We would be grateful if you could make a financial contribution today to assist us.

We have a multi-faceted plan to fight for our issues, including urging the US Supreme Court to use the pending Masterpiece Cakeshop case to rule that nobody can be forced against their will to be involved in gay 'marriage;' hold the Republicans in Congress accountable, including demanding they introduce and move forward with the First Amendment Defense Act to provide protections for people of faith; organize tens of thousands of Americans to contact Attorney General Jeff Sessions to demand that the Trump administration move forward with a long-promised Executive Order to protect the religious liberty of those who believe in traditional marriage; and highlight the utter hate that many on the left have for people who remain firm in their belief that marriage is as God created it – one man and one woman.

You can help us today to pursue these four priority actions by taking two simple steps: Sign our petition to the 23 Republicans who need to get the message that it's not OK to expect taxpayers to pay for sex-change surgeries for transgendered military personnel, and make a financial contribution to support NOM so that we have the resources we need to be successful.

Are These Republicans Traitors, or Just Clueless?

The entire Republican Party owes their electoral success to people of faith, individuals like us who turned out in droves to oppose the leftist agenda of the Democrats and Hillary Clinton. The Democrats demand complete loyalty to their extreme agenda – same-sex 'marriage,' abortion on demand, transgender ideology, virtual elimination of religious liberty, etc. In rejecting the extreme agenda of the left and Democratic leaders, people of faith put their trust in Republicans who said they would deliver on their promises and defend American values.

From Donald J. Trump, to the members of the US Senate, to the members of the House of Representatives, Republican elected officials owe their majority to people of faith, the bedrock base of the Republican Party.

But so far, outside of Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court, the Republicans have precious little to show in terms of delivering on their promises.

Worse, late last week, some 23 GOP members of the US House of Representatives opposed an amendment to the defense spending authorization bill to prevent the use of taxpayer funds to pay for sex-change surgeries from transgendered soldiers.

Are these 23 Republicans clueless or, worse, are they traitors to the conservative cause?

First off, the science is clear that there is absolutely no evidence to show that someone can be "trapped in the wrong body." Those who think they are "transgender" actually suffer from a psychological disorder known as gender dysphoria.

Moreover, why in the world should US taxpayers be given the bill because a gender-confused individual joins the military and then demands a sex-change operation? It's insane!

And what's really problematic is that the GOP leadership in the House, including Speaker Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, did absolutely nothing to prevent this travesty and betrayal of trust.

If the Republican leadership in Washington does not get their act together soon and begin delivering on their promises to restore American values like marriage and life, they are going to be in for a rude awakening come the 2018 midterm elections. Why would people of faith turn out to vote for incumbent Republicans who do nothing, or worse, betray us?

NOM intends to hold the Republican majority in the House and the Senate accountable for their actions, and the Trump administration as well. We have a detailed plan to do so, but we need your help to be successful.

Will you stand with us and help us with a financial contribution so we have the resources to hold the GOP accountable and fight for the rights of all marriage supporters?

Here is our plan:

  1. Conduct a strong public education campaign supporting NOM's legal team as we prepare to file amicus briefs with the US Supreme Court in the Masterpiece Cakeshop case, which holds the potential of achieving a sweeping Court ruling preventing government from targeting people for punishment because they hold fast to the natural, biblical understanding of marriage as one man and one woman...

  2. Hold the Republicans in Congress accountable, including demanding they introduce and move forward with the First Amendment Defense Act to provide protections for people of faith, and demand that GOP members feel the heat when they abandon us to vote for "transgender surgeries" and other policies that violate our values and defy common-sense. (See our petition below.)

  3. Organize tens of thousands of Americans to contact Attorney General Jeff Sessions to demand that the Trump administration move forward with a long-promised Executive Order to protect individuals, pastors, churches and nonprofit groups who believe in traditional marriage from punitive actions against them by the government.

  4. Highlight the utter hate that many on the left have for people who remain firm in their belief that marriage is as God created it – one man and one woman. This includes formally launching our First Freedom Initiative which, among other things, will highlight the animus and dangerous tactics of groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center and the grossly-misnamed Human Rights Campaign.

Combined, these four priorities form the backbone of NOM's work this summer to protect marriage supporters. But to be successful on any one of these undertakings, let alone our full agenda, we need the strong support of every NOM supporter. Will you be with us?

One of our first acts to begin to hold the GOP in Congress accountable is to launch this petition to the 23 turncoats who just voted for taxpayer funding of sex-change surgeries for the transgendered.

Think about it: the most prominent transgender solider is Bradley Manning (who now goes by Chelsea), a traitor who risked our national security to release highly confidential military intelligence documents. Incredibly, President Obama let Manning out of prison after serving only a fraction of his sentence, and now these 23 Republican Congressmen want taxpayers to pay for sex-change operations for people like Bradley Manning!

Please sign our petition to the 23 Republicans who abandoned taxpayers, people of faith and American values. We will make sure that Speaker Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy also receive the petition so that they know that we are not going to sit still for this type of betrayal by Republicans in Congress.

All of us in the pro-family movement worked hard to help elect President Trump and Republican majorities in both the US Senate and the House of Representatives. Now we have to redouble our work to make sure they deliver what they promised. Please give generously at this important time.

Thank you for all that you are doing to help us restore marriage and protect marriage supporters.

It's Time To Protect Marriage Supporters From Governmental Discrimination

With Neil Gorsuch now on the US Supreme Court, as one of its last acts of the current term the Supreme Court decided to accept the case of Masterpiece Cakeshop v Colorado Civil Rights Commission, a critical case that highlights the growing problem of supporters of marriage being discriminated against by government and targeted for harassment and punitive punishment in violation of our constitutional rights.

Jack Phillips is the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, a skilled baker and cake artisan, and a devout Christian. He runs a family business that has thrived in Lakeland, Colorado for nearly 25 years. He's happily served all clients, and continues to sell baked goods to anyone who seeks them regardless of their religious beliefs, politics or sexual orientation. However, when it comes to applying his artistry and creativity to helping with events and ceremonies that violate his deeply held religious beliefs, he draws the line and declines to personally participate. Contributing his artistry to a gay "wedding" is such a ceremony that Jack cannot in good conscience help with. So when two homosexual men asked him to design a cake for their "wedding" he politely declined. Predictably, the men sued and some months later, after enduring an onslaught of abuse from LGBT activists and a raft of negative publicity, the Colorado Civil Rights Commission determined that Jack was guilty of sexual orientation discrimination, ordered him and his staff to design cakes for gay ceremonies, and further ordered him to undergo a "re-education" program along with filing quarterly "compliance" reports.

NOM is determined to end this type of targeting of people who hold true to the reality that marriage is and always will be the union of one man and one woman. Will you stand with us and help us with a financial contribution so we have the resources to argue for the rights of Jack Phillips and all marriage supporters?

It's outrageous that not only can LGBT extremists get the judicial elite to impose gay "marriage" on the nation, but that they can get their allies in government to punish anyone who disagrees and refuses to go along with the charade that marriage is anything other than the union of one man and one woman.

Sadly, Jack Phillips is far from the only one who has been subjected to governmental persecution, reputational ruin and the threat of being financially devastated. Countless others have also been targeted by LGBT extremists and their allies in government.

We are going to do everything in our power to put a stop to this, and make this the summer when marriage supporters are protected.

Here is our plan:

  1. Conduct a strong public education campaign supporting NOM's legal team as we prepare to file amicus briefs with the US Supreme Court in the Masterpiece Cakeshop case. The justices of the Supreme Court need to understand the devastation that their ruling redefining marriage has wreaked on the nation.

  2. Working with allies, organize tens of thousands of Americans to contact Attorney General Jeff Sessions to demand that the Trump administration move forward with a long-promised Executive Order to protect individuals, pastors, churches and nonprofit groups who believe in traditional marriage from punitive actions against them by the government.

  3. Work with key champions in Congress, including Sen. Mike Lee and Rep. Raul Labrador, to reintroduce the First Amendment Defense Act to make permanent the types of protections that would be contained in an Executive Order and a victory before the Supreme Court. President Trump has already endorsed this type of legislation, but it has not yet been introduced into Congress.

  4. As part of the public education campaign, we must highlight the utter hate that many on the left have for people who remain firm in their belief that marriage is as God created it – one man and one woman.

Our team is already hard at work doing the heavy lifting that is required to be successful. We're preparing additional educational videos and informational pieces, getting ready to launch more petitions to engage Americans, putting the final touches on new policy positions that allied groups can endorse and help us present to Congress and the Trump administration, and conducting rigorous legal research on how and why the constitution protects the rights of people of faith to decline to be involved in something that violates their deeply held beliefs.

All that is required now is your financial support so that we have the resources we need to complete the work that is so important and that can make such a difference, not only for those who are facing persecution like Jack Phillips, but for millions of others who are at risk in the future. Please give generously at this important time.

Thank you for all that you are doing to help us restore marriage and protect marriage supporters.

Make This The Summer For Protecting Marriage Supporters

As we enter the heat of the summer, many of our elected officials in Washington are taking time off, some on family vacations, some meeting with constituents, and others participating in "fact finding" trips to other countries. But while the Congressional schedule may allow for our federal representatives to take a break, NOM does not have that luxury. We need to use this limited time to get ready for a major push in just a few weeks to protect people who believe in marriage as one man and one woman from discrimination, punishment and harassment at the hands of government officials doing the bidding of LGBT extremists.

Can I count on you to help us be successful?

Here's our plan:

  1. We need to remind Attorney General Sessions that candidate Donald Trump repeatedly promised he would issue such an order, and let him know that we expect this promise to be fulfilled. President Trump has tasked Mr. Sessions with this responsibility.

  2. Work with key champions in Congress, including Sen. Mike Lee and Rep. Raul Labrador, to reintroduce the First Amendment Defense Act to make permanent the types of protections that would be contained in an Executive Order. President Trump has already endorsed this type of legislation, but it has not yet been introduced into Congress.

  3. Conduct a strong public education campaign supporting NOM's legal team as we prepare to file amicus briefs with the US Supreme Court in one of the most consequential religious liberty cases ever to come before the Court – the Masterpiece Cakeshop case, which provides the opportunity for a sweeping ruling that governments may not punish people of faith for declining to participate in gay "weddings" that violate their deeply held religious beliefs.

  4. As part of the public education campaign underlying our regulatory, legislative and judicial work, we must highlight the utter hate that many on the left have for people who remain firm in their belief that marriage is as God created it – one man and one woman. This includes formally launching our First Freedom Initiative which, among other things, will highlight the animus and dangerous tactics of groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center and the grossly-misnamed Human Rights Campaign.

Show Your Support

Combined, these four priorities form the backbone of NOM's Summer For Protecting Marriage Supporters. But to be successful on any one of these undertakings, let alone our full agenda, we need the help of every NOM supporter. Will you be with us?

We’ve got a lot of work to do to be successful, and our team is already hard at work doing the heavy lifting that is required. We're preparing additional educational videos and informational pieces to explain the importance of this effort, getting ready to launch more petitions to engage Americans in the cause, putting the final touches on new policy positions that allied groups can endorse and help us present to Congress and the Trump administration, and conducting rigorous legal research on how and why the constitution protects the rights of people of faith to decline to be involved in something that violates their deeply held beliefs.

No American should be forced to abandon their faith and tenets of belief about marriage to avoid being targeted by the government for punishment. Our side has never taken the position that the LGBT community should be punished for pursuing their beliefs, yet LGBT extremists regularly claim that we are hateful, bigoted homophobes who deserve to be punished whenever possible for believing that marriage is the union of one man and one woman.

While this summer will be extremely busy for us at NOM, it's no secret that the summer months are the most challenging time to raise financial support for nonprofit groups. We're counting on you and other NOM supporters to show that this year is an exception and that our finances will not take a hit just when we need to step up our investment in pursuing our agenda to protect marriage supporters from discrimination.

Please give generously at this important time. We need your ongoing support, and we thank you for all that you are doing to help us restore marriage and protect marriage supporters.
