Relentless Punishment for Expressing Common Sense

Dear Marriage Supporter —

LGBT activists like to portray their small community as victims of bigotry, hatred and harassment. They use that portrayal, with the help of their allies in the media, in a relentless push to force all of society to accept their skewed, false narrative about the intrinsic nature of men and women, and human sexuality. Consider these two cases currently in the news:

  • Isabella Chow is a student at UC Berkeley in California, and is an elected member of the campus Student Senate. She is also a Christian. LGBT activists presented a student resolution to express support for transgenderism. This is not something that Chow could do and maintain her beliefs that God made us male and female. So she decided to abstain on the resolution after issuing a statement that all people, including those who identify as transgendered, are entitled to God's love and should be free from discrimination. For this, she's been brutally attacked in the public square, yelled at on the way to class, confronted by angry mobs, had over 1,000 students demand that she change her views and been kicked out of her student political party.
  • A male PE teacher at a Florida middle school has been punished for refusing to personally oversee a female student who claims a male "gender identity" when changing in the boys locker room. The teacher does not want to observe a biological female who is naked. In response, the school district has threatened putting him on administrative leave and transferring him to another school district. They say his failure to implement their transgender policy, "won't be tolerated." This policy was written by an LGBT activist and imposed on students with no discussion or notice to them or their parents.

HELP US FIGHT AGAINST THIS DANGEROUS GENDER IDEOLOGY.

It's now become common that merely expressing the obvious observation that sex is a biological reality assigned at birth, not an emotional feeling or a political condition that can be chosen amounts to outright hostility, bigotry and hatred. And activists  relentlessly push this narrative in every forum, especially where young people are prevalent such as in the schools.

But here's the truth: biology is not bigotry. It is not a demonstration of love for your neighbor to accept a lie about them – that they can reject the sex that God assigned them in the womb.

The promulgation of this lie is having an impact on young people. Statistically, the LGBT community makes up about 2-3% of society according to large-scale studies. The so-called transgender account for about 10% of this tiny audience, which translates into 0.2% - 0.3% of the entire population. However, because of the widespread cultural push to normalize transgenderism and LGBT behavior, a whopping 57% of young people in the US and the UK say they are not completely heterosexual and consider their sexuality to be fluid. Another study reported a nearly 400% increase in the percent of people claiming a non-conforming "gender identity".

These are serious issues. A child who is struggling with emotional issues, trying to figure out where he or she fits in with peers and the larger society, is now at risk of being labeled "transgender" and could find himself on a path that leads to social, psychological and medical intervention with often permanent consequences, such as being prescribed powerful hormone blockers that cause sterilization.

As serious as these issues are, however, powerful cultural forces are intent on making sure that even discussing them is seen as hateful and bigoted.

This type of attitude needs to be confronted and protected against. But with the Democrats set to take control of the US House of Representatives, I fear that the situation may get worse before it gets better.

NOM has been at the forefront of speaking truth to power when it comes to confronting the rising cultural push for transgenderism. We've sponsored a bus tour to bring attention to the issues, and aggressively promoted independent studies that document the consequences of this push.

We've also fought for legal protections for citizens so that government cannot punish people who maintain a common-sense understanding of the biological reality of male and female.

Please help us continue to stand for the truth of male and female by making a contribution today.

We're in an insane moment in history where seemingly everything in life is being politicized and the LGBT agenda has been weaponized against anyone who fails to fully embrace it.  In times like these, society needs people of clarity and courage to stand up and speak truth to power. NOM will continue to do just that, even in the face of an increasing cultural and political wind to the contrary. I pray that you will stand with us.

Please, take a moment to make an urgent contribution so that we can fight for children, families, people of faith, and for truth.

BREAKING: Big Win As Trump Bans Transgendered in Military

In a major announcement, President Trump announced this morning via Twitter that he has banned so-called transgendered individuals from serving in any capacity in the military. NOM has helped lead a nationwide grassroots movement to oppose the gender ideology of former President Obama and the left, which has attempted to force the transgender agenda on the military, public school children and all institutions of government. Recently, we helped mobilize a massive grassroots push back against 23 Republican members of the House of Representatives who opposed efforts to stop saddling taxpayers with the huge cost of sex changes surgeries and other treatments for transgendered people who join the military.

This is a great victory for taxpayers, and for common sense. The medical science is clear, nobody is born such that they are the opposite sex "trapped in the wrong body." Those who feel this way suffer from a disorder called "gender dysphoria." They deserve our concerns and prayers, but they are not entitled to force all of society to abandon reality to accommodate their disorder, and they are not entitled to force taxpayers to pay for sex-change surgeries and other expensive 'treatments.'

President Trump cited "the tremendous medical costs and disruption" that transgendered individuals would cause the military. Kudos to him for having the courage to stand up to the left on this issue, who have relentlessly used the power of government to push the transgender agenda on society.

Mr. Trump is correct to cite not only the costs but the disruption that the transgender agenda causes. These gender-confused individuals are a tiny fraction of the population, yet everyone else is expected to succumb to their demands or risk being labeled a bigot, homophobe or worse. They expect school children, women and victims of sexual abuse to risk their safety and privacy by allowing biological men into intimate areas reserved for women and girls. Massive fake outrage has been manufactured by LGBT extremist groups and their allies in government, media, large corporations and big-time sports leagues against anyone who resists.

We’re encouraged by this development and call on President Trump to also protect individuals, churches, nonprofit groups and people of faith from the same cost and disruption that he is concerned about transgender individuals causing in the military. As a candidate, he repeatedly promised to sign an Executive Order to protect the religious liberty rights of people of faith, including the right to continue to uphold the truth of gender, marriage and the sanctity of life. We urge him to act to fulfill that promise and we commend him for the actions he’s taken today.

Minnesota Schools to get "Transgender Toolkit"?

The Minnesota Department of Education's "School Safety Technical Assistance Council" (SSTAC) has produced and is in the process of considering a "transgender toolkit" that would advise Minnesota schools to adopt policies advocated in the Obama administration's now infamous "Dear Colleague" letter from the Department of Education and Department of Justice. That guidance letter, based on junk science and radical ideology, was officially rescinded and withdrawn by President Trump's administration earlier this year, but the Minnesota Dept. of Ed. seems to want Minnesota's school to adopt its dangerous policy suggestions anyway.

You can read more information about the SSTAC's "Toolkit" proposal here. The article notes the objection of our friends at the Minnesota Family Council. Spokeswoman Stephani Liesmaki said the toolkit "threatens student privacy, safety and dignity, attempts to erase differences between the sexes, which has a profoundly negative effect on women and girls and drastically undermines parental authority."

The toolkit - a copy of which is provided here (PDF) - ranges from absurd but relatively benign guidance on things like pronoun usage to much more ominous policy ideas, like the opening of normally sex-segregated spaces to students of the opposite biological sex merely because they 'identify' as belonging to a gender other than the one reflected on their birth certificate and in their anatomy.

Altogether, this policy is dangerous, and the Department of Education and SSTAC need to hear from you today that these kinds of policies are dangerous and that they don't belong in Minnesota's schools!

Our friends at Minnesota Family Council have put together a letter to MDE and SSTAC policy-makers opposing this dangerous "guidance" package, and we encourage you to go sign the letter today.

SIGN THE LETTER NOW!

maintaining a certain amount of secrecy, and so it may be voted on as early as this month! The MED and SSTAC need to hear from Minnesotans that object to this secrecy and demand a more deliberative and circumspect process.

The letter designed by MFC notes, in part:

While compassionate accommodations can and should be extended to students who struggle with biological realities, such accommodations must be made in a manner that does not compromise the privacy, safety and dignity of all students. This toolkit is not the solution. The toolkit would privilege students who struggle with biological realities above all other students and at the expense of all other students. It is your responsibility to ensure the privacy, safety and dignity of all public school students and I am urging you to embrace this responsibility by preventing final approval and distribution of this toolkit.

The vast majority of parents and students in Minnesota do not want to attend public schools where girls shower alongside boys, where boys can house with girls on overnight school trips, where boys can observe girls inside changing rooms after gym class. Privacy is a basic right and one that parents take very, very seriously when their children are concerned. Please, I am urging you to take it as seriously as parents.

Additionally, taxpayers do not want their dollars spent printing, distributing and implementing recommendations that strip minors of basic provisions every person should be extended - privacy, safety and dignity. Please respect taxpayers in Minnesota by demonstrating that you conduct yourself with integrity - fiscally, procedurally and professionally.

This is a message the MDE and the SSTAC need to hear from you today!

Please take time to visit the MPC's website and sign their letter right away.

Boys in the Girls' Room in Frederick County, MD?

The Board of Education of Frederick County, Maryland is considering a policy that endangers the privacy and safety of the county’s students by allowing "access to facilities, including rest rooms, locker rooms, or changing facilities, that correspond to their gender identity […] without question" [emphasis added].

Below are some important action items for you to consider, but first I'm including more information about this dangerous policy. You can read the policy in full here (PDF).

If you're already familiar with it, feel free to skip below to see how you can help today, or simply go online and sign our petition about this policy now:

Please take immediate action to defend students' privacy and safety in Frederick County today!

This ominous policy is far-reaching in its implications. If adopted, it would mandate that:

  • “All students [would] have access to facilities, including rest rooms, locker rooms, or changing facilities, that correspond to their gender identity. Access [would be] provided without question or additional complicating procedure. Students, including non-binary students, [would] determine which facilities are consistent with their gender identity."
  • “Under no circumstance [would] any student [be] required or directed to use a private use facility.”
“Students [would be permitted to participate in sports and phys. ed. Classes] in a manner consistent with their gender identity” and “[t]he gender identity of student-athletes [would not be required] to be disclosed to coaches, teammates, opponent’s coaches, or anyone else….”
  • On “overnight field trips,” any student would have “the opportunity to room with others according to their gender identity,” and while efforts would be made to “accommodate any student who desires greater privacy… no student should be isolated.”
  • Students and all staff who work with students would be required to refer to students by their chosen name and pronouns, and be provided “a current and complete list of preferred names and pronouns for all students” to be used “in every interaction.” There would also be no dress code for events based on gender.
  • Finally, and most dangerously of all, the policy states: “Depending on privacy needs or a transgender student’s own personal transition, school staff are authorized to work with students (and their families, if students explicitly wish) to provide options that may support a student’s needs” [emphasis added] - which implies that schools might work independently of parents in implementing policies having to do directly with children’s health, safety, privacy, and general welfare!

This policy is not only absurd, it is dangerous. With this policy, the Board of Education adopts the view of LGBT activists that “gender nonconforming” or “non-binary” students are the only ones with “rights,” and ignores the basic rights of privacy and safety of all other students. It puts the agenda of gender redefinition, a political tool being used by radical activists throughout society, ahead of the privacy and safety of students in intimate spaces like locker rooms and bathrooms. To satisfy the whims of activists and powerful lobbyists from Hollywood and Washington, DC, the Frederick County Board of Education would - without regard to parents’ wishes - force students to use the restroom, to shower, and even to cohabitate overnight with members of the opposite sex! All this in the name of “creating [a] welcoming and affirming]” environment for students who suffer from gender confusion!

So now it is time for us to take action!

Here is how you can help:

We have launched an online petition to the Board of Education urging them to reject this dangerous policy. Please visit and sign this petition right away!

Sign Our Petition Today!

Secondly, if you are able, consider attending the next Board meeting, where this policy is scheduled to be discussed. The meeting will be on Wednesday, June 14th at 6:00 PM in the FCPS Board Room, 191 South East Street in Frederick.

Finally, please share this email with your friends and family in Maryland, especially in Frederick County, and alert as many people to this urgent matter as you can!

NOM, CitizenGO and IOF Wrap Up Successful, Enlightening #FreeSpeechBus Tour

Bus Tour Exposes Intolerance, Hate of LGBT Activists; Reveals Deep Coordination with Democrat Politicians, Anarchists

Washington, D.C.–The National Organization for Marriage (NOM), CitizenGO and the International Organization for the Family (IOF) today wrapped their #FreeSpeechBus tour intended to spark a national discussion about the biological truth of gender with a visit to the nation's capital in Washington, DC. The organizers said the tour revealed the ugly side of the LGBT movement, which engaged in violence and assault, and inflicted substantial property damage, in a failed effort to derail the bus tour. They also said that the response to the tour indicated deep coordination between the LGBT movement, Democratic politicians and anarchists who are committed to the destruction of civil society. Organizers said the tour was a success in that it highlighted the vicious intolerance shown to anyone in society who expresses dissent regarding the transgender agenda.

"We launched the #FreeSpeechBus tour as a way to spark a conversation about gender, that it is determined by biology rather than by emotions and feelings, and to call for all sides to respect the free speech rights of citizens to debate these issues without fear of being demeaned, harassed, or threatened with retaliation," said Brian S. Brown, president of NOM and IOF. "What we encountered was a sustained, violent, coordinated attack designed to shut us down and force us to just go away. They failed to stop the tour or silence us, and, ironically, in the process made our very point that they don't want to debate the issues and instead will use force and political power to silence Christians and all Americans who understand that biology determines gender."

On the first day of the bus tour, the #FreeSpeechBus was attacked by two LGBT activists while parked near the United Nations in New York City. They assaulted the African American bus driver and destroyed several of the bus's windows with a hammer, while also using graffiti to cover the bus with militant "trans liberation" messages. After repairs, the bus continued the tour to Boston, New Haven, Philadelphia and concluded in Washington, DC. Along the way, it was frequently met by an angry mob of LGBT extremists and anarchists. It was revealed that prominent Democratic politicians were involved in promoting the violence and hate, including coordinating with anarchist groups.

"In Philadelphia, Mayor Jim Kenney's office was deeply involved in organizing the violent demonstrations against us, including coordinating with anarchist groups that are closely watched by the FBI," said Ignacio Arsuaga, president of CitizenGo. "The mayor's Office of LGBT Affairs proudly referred to themselves as 'an accomplice' in organizing protests which turned violent, with attacks on the bus and on police officers by gay activists and anarchists. At least one of them was arrested and bus organizers were prevented from speaking, an act of intolerant bullying the Mayor's office takes pride in. Meanwhile, while we were being prevented from engaging in a discussion with the protestors, the mayors of both Philadelphia and Boston ordered LGBT/transgendered flags to be flown at City Hall."

Brown noted that the intolerance and violence shown to those who hold traditional, majoritarian beliefs about the biological nature of gender is a powerful argument why Congress should move forward immediately to pass the First Amendment Defense Act, legislation which would prevent the federal government from discriminating against people of faith based on their views of gender and similar matters. "No American should be subjected to discrimination or harassment by the government simply for standing by their deeply held beliefs about the nature of gender, marriage and similar subjects. Citizens on both sides of these debates should be able to express their viewpoints without the heavy hand of government harassing and discriminating against them."

NOM Brief in Gloucester County School Board v. G.G.

A British woman says she will be the "greatest dad"

A British woman who "has been living legally as a man for three years" has made news this week as she is set to become "the first man in UK to give birth."

The woman, named Hayden Cross, says she plans to "continue his [sic.] transition process to remove his breasts and ovaries as soon as he has given birth."

NOM for years has warned that changing the definition of marriage is about more than the simple question of who has access to the benefits of the legal contract of marriage: it is about a shift in social values that places the desires and whims of adult ahead of the needs and rights of children.

Nowhere in the story of Cross's pregnancy is there any discussion of the right of the child to have a mom who isn't pretending to be a dad. Nowhere is there any consideration of the child's right to feed at the breast of his or her own loving mother rather than be bottle fed because that mother decided to remove her breasts and masquerade as a man.

The headline reads that Cross will be the "first man in [the] UK to give birth," which of course is nonsense - Cross is a woman, and only women can give birth; but if we were to accept that nonsense as model, we could rewrite the headline to say that Cross's child will be the first child in the UK born without a mother. That the editors didn't write the headline that way only goes to show the extent to which the media continues to be complicit in enabling lies and a denial of reality.

Judge Halts Obama Administration's Transgender Agenda

Breaking news today via Reuters:

A U.S. judge blocked Obama administration guidance that transgender public school students must be allowed to use bathrooms of their choice, granting a nationwide injunction sought by a group of 13 states led by Texas.

Reed O'Connor, a judge for the Northern District of Texas, said in a decision late on Sunday that the Obama administration did not follow proper procedures for notice and comment in issuing the guidelines. He said the guidelines contradict with existing legislative and regulatory texts.

[...]

At a hearing on the injunction in Fort Worth on Aug. 12, lawyers for Texas said the guidelines usurp the authority of school districts nationwide. They said they were at risk of losing billions of dollars in federal funding for education if they did not comply.

U.S. Department of Justice lawyers sought to dismiss the injunction, saying the federal guidelines issued in May were non-binding with no legal consequences.

The guidance issued by the Justice Department and Education Department said public schools must allow transgender students to use bathrooms, locker rooms and other intimate facilities that correspond with their gender identity, as opposed to their birth gender, or face the loss of federal funds.

Under the injunction, the Obama administration is prohibited from enforcing the guidelines on "against plaintiffs and their respective schools, school boards, and other public, educationally based institutions," O'Connor wrote.

Stunning Statistics on the Impact of Radical Gender Ideology on Children

From the BBC comes a disturbing report of a meteoric rise, over the past six years, on referrals to clinicians of children under the age of 18 for treatment to help them make "gender transitions."

GIDS StatsThe startling figure for the whole age group of one- to eighteen-year-old referrals is the rise from 94 in 2009-2010 to 969 in 2015-2016: an increase of 930%! This includes a stunning rise in referrals for children between the tender ages of five and nine years old: within that age group, the rise in referrals over the period studied has been nearly 600%!

In explaining the phenomenon, the BBC quotes the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS), an official specialized service provided under England's National Health Service (NHS):

GIDS, based in north London, is the NHS's dedicated gender identity development service for children and takes referrals from GPs, paediatricians, mental health services and schools across the country.

Its director, Polly Carmichael, said in recent years more younger children were making gender transitions and there was no "right or wrong approach", with many families reporting their child was happier living in another gender.

[...]

In terms of the general increase in referrals, GIDS said there could be a number of reasons, but increased awareness and acceptance of gender issues - particularly via the media and social networks - was a likely factor.

The article also notes that Carmichael acknowledged that, "research published in the Netherlands suggest[s] that 'for some young people who make an early social transition it may be difficult to de-transition if their gender identity develops in another direction'."

We hope that the lesson of that research is taken to heart and that those to whom these poor children are referred do not push them into making a life-changing decision which they are mentally and emotionally too immature to grasp. Indeed, we have already seen in many ways how "gender transition" decisions can be regretting in a very high percentage of cases.

In any case, this article points to a troubling trend of how the permeation throughout our culture of radical LGBT ideology is beginning to have a problematic impact on the youngest and most vulnerable in our society.

NOM’s Promise To Missouri Voters Fulfilled – Turncoat Republican Anne Zerr Defeated in GOP Primary

"We did what we promised and went after her, and I couldn’t be happier that she has been defeated." - Brian Brown, NOM President

nom_logo

Washington, D.C. – When Missouri Republican Anne Zerr cast the deciding vote to kill SJR 39, a proposed constitutional amendment to protect the rights of supporters of marriage from governmental persecution, the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) vowed to end her political career. NOM delivered last night when Zerr was defeated in the GOP primary for state Senate. NOM mounted an independent expenditure campaign funding mailers and phone calls to oppose Zerr and endorse her opponent, Rep. Bill Eigel. With all precincts reporting, Eigel has defeated Zerr by 385 votes.

"Anne Zerr betrayed her constituents and the people of Missouri when she sided with LGBT extremists to defeat SJR 39, which would have given voters the right to protect supporters of marriage from discrimination by governmental entities," said Brian Brown, NOM president. "We did what we promised and went after her, and I couldn't be happier that she has been defeated. Zerr joins a long list of Republicans who have ended their political careers by voting against the interests of people who support marriage as the union of one man and one woman."

Last April, Zerr joined with two other Republicans, Representatives Jim Hansen and Caleb Rowan, to defeat SJR 39, a proposed constitutional amendment that would have protected people of faith from being forced to participate in same-sex 'weddings' in Missouri. Because of her vote, Zerr subjected Missourians who support traditional marriage to an array of punitive actions by government, usually undertaken at the behest of LGBT extremists. People in numerous other states have been sued, fined, fired and punished, their reputations ruined and their livelihood destroyed. SJR 39 would have given Missouri voters an opportunity to prevent this type of discrimination against people of faith.

"When four Republican Senators in New York voted for gay 'marriage,' we ended their careers," Brown said. "When Republican candidates for US Senate in New Hampshire, California and Oregon came out in favor of redefining marriage, we defeated them and ended their careers. When Supreme Court judges redefined marriage in Iowa, we removed them from office. When GOP candidates for Congress in California and Massachusetts endorsed gay 'marriage' we defeated them. And now we have defeated Anne Zerr over her vote to subject supporters of marriage to punitive governmental actions simply for not wanting to be involved in gay 'marriage.' We urge Republican officials in Missouri and elsewhere to pay attention to this pattern. If you vote with LGBT activists against those who support marriage, you do so at the risk of your political career."

NOM said they are considering what actions to take against Representatives Hansen and Rowan during the general election. "Caleb Rowan has an opponent in his race for state Senate District 19 and we will consider opposing him even though his opponent does not support SJR 39. It would be better for Missouri to have a bad Democrat for one term than to have a bad Republican for a career. Hansen doesn’t have an opponent, but that won’t stop us from letting his constituents know about how bad he is on marriage, religious liberty and giving voters a chance to decide critical issues like this for themselves. Whether it takes a few months or several years, we will not rest until all three Missouri Republicans who betrayed supporters of marriage are out of office. Zerr was first, Hansen and Rowan are next."

Pope decries gender ideology taught to children

From USA Today:

Pope Francis has lamented that children are being taught at school that gender can be a choice, adding that his predecessor, Benedict XVI has labeled current times "the epoch of sin against God the Creator."

Francis weighed in with his view on gender and what he said was that of the emeritus pontiff while meeting privately last week with bishops from Poland during his pilgrimage there. The Vatican released a transcript Tuesday of those closed-door remarks.

The pope said he wanted to conclude his remarks by reflecting on this: "We are living a moment of annihilation of man as image of God."

Francis said: "Today, in schools they are teaching this to children — to children! — that everyone can choose their gender."

Without specifying, he blamed this on textbooks supplied by "persons and institutions who donate money." The pope blamed what he called "ideological colonizing" backed by "very influential countries" which he didn’t identify.

One such "colonization" he said — "I’ll say it clearly with its first and last name — is gender."

NCAA Puts Politics Before Safety

From Ed Whelen at NRO's "The Corner" blog:

On Friday, the NCAA announced that cities interested in hosting NCAA championships must fill out a questionnaire on whether they have laws (state or local) that govern use of bathrooms and locker rooms. Questions include:

  1. 3. Does your city, county/parish and/or state regulate choice of bathrooms or locker rooms that may affect student-athletes, coaches, administrators, or game officials during the Event?
  2. 4. Does your city, county-parish and/or state regulate choice of bathrooms that may affect fans attending the Event?
  3. 6. If the Event is planned to be held on institutional/campus property, does your institution have provisions that interfere with any person’s choice of bathroom or locker room?

Whelen goes on to point out that not only is the NCAA putting politics before safety with its dangerous new bathroom agenda, but it is also illogically and incoherently departing from the Obama Administration when it comes to the question of sports teams. The moral of the story seems to be that the fabric of untruth and imagination upon which radical gender ideology is trying to construct a coherent legal paradigm is bound to unravel. The only question is how much damage will be done before that finally happens?

File Under: "Things They Told Us Would Never Happen"

One could publish a book entitled, Things LGBT Activists Insisted Would Never Happen, But Did - and it would, grimly, be a long one. Whether it be public figures losing their jobs because of their religious beliefs on marriage or private business owners threatened with legal action and financial ruin for refusing to participate in celebrating a marriage that conflicts with their conscience, we've seen case after case in which the things they told us would never take place have come to sad fruition.

Today, the headline in this category reads, Transgender woman arrested for voyeurism at Target, and while we are shocked by the story we cannot say we're really surprised:

A transgender Idaho Falls woman was arrested Tuesday on one count of felony voyeurism for a report that she took pictures of another woman changing clothes in a dressing room at Target in Ammon.

Shauna Patricia Smith, 43, is in custody in the Bonneville County Jail under the name Sean Smith, according to the jail’s active inmate roster. A Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office news release said the suspect also is known as Sean P. Smith.

Sheriff’s deputies responded Monday to the store after a woman reported that someone was taking pictures of her while she was inside a dressing room trying on clothes, the release said. The victim noticed the subject reaching over the wall with a cellphone taking pictures. The victim confronted the suspect who then fled the store on foot, the release said.

Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Sgt. Bryan Lovell said he didn’t know whether the reported victim was wearing underwear when she was photographed.

Detectives reviewed witness information and security footage from Target that led them to come in contact with Smith, the release said. After interviewing Smith she was taken into custody by detectives and booked into the jail.

Detectives are investigating to determine if any more victims exist relating to this incident, the release said.

While the actions of this individual are outrageous, what is perhaps more maddening is that Target deliberately invited such behavior by intentionally putting the safety and privacy of girls and women at risk!

We have called on our supporters to SAY NO TO TARGET, and we renew that call today.

2016 March for Marriage Set for June 25 in Washington, DC

March Will Protest Supreme Court Gay ‘Marriage’ Decision and Obama Transgender Decrees; Call on Congress to Enact Legal Protections

nom_logo

Washington, D.C. – The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) today announced that the 2016 March for Marriage has been scheduled for Saturday, June 25th in Washington, DC. Marchers will walk from the US Capitol building to the US Supreme Court. Tens of thousands of people have attended previous marches in support of traditional marriage.

“The Supreme Court’s Obergefell ruling redefining marriage will go down as one of the most infamous, illegitimate rulings in the Court’s history, along the lines of their decision in Dred Scott to sanction slavery,” said Brian Brown, NOM’s president. “The narrow 5-4 majority ignored precedent and invented a constitutional ‘right’ to gay ‘marriage’ so that these activist judges could impose their own values on the nation. In the process, they stripped over 50 million voters and countless legislators in states across America of their sovereign right to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman.”

Supporters of marriage are urged to attend the March from all across the country. More information including a route map and schedule is available at www.marriagemarch.org.

Brown noted that it didn’t take long following the Supreme Court’s redefinition of marriage for LGBT activists and their chief ally President Obama to push the next element of their agenda – transgender bathroom rules. “The LGBT extremists and the Obama administration are attempting to defy human nature itself and declare that gender can be self-directed and chosen based on ‘identity,’” Brown said. “Obama is fighting to ensure that when someone chooses to declare an identity different from reality, such as a man claiming to be a woman, all of society will be expected to bow in compliance and succumb to every demand, including allowing men into private facilities like restrooms and showers reserved for girls and women. It’s outrageous and it must be stopped.”

NOM is also a strong supporter of the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) to provide legal protections for supporters of marriage, protecting them against governmental discrimination. The proposal (HR 2802/S.1598) has 170 sponsors and co-sponsors in the House and 38 in the Senate, but has not been scheduled for a hearing. Encouraging support for this measure is another goal of the March for Marriage this year.

“It’s time that Congress pass the First Amendment Defense Act so that people of faith do not have to worry about choosing between protecting their livelihood and upholding their beliefs about marriage,” Brown concluded.

The LGBT Movement Will Self-Destruct

Rachel Lu, writing at The Federalist, describes how "within [her] lifetime, the LGBT movement will die. It will be remembered not as a Selma moment, but as a Salem moment: a period of collective insanity."

She writes:

Whether the memory of this period evokes mild derision or deep shame will likely depend on these next few years. It’s still possible that the madness might recede and leave gays, lesbians, and religious conservatives all free to live peaceful and productive lives, knowing their fundamental rights will be respected even where their beliefs and lifestyle choices aren’t. Less optimistically, the early twenty-first century could be remembered as a time when any or all of those groups were harshly persecuted, potentially leaving deep scars in our social memory.

Either way, the movement will die. How do we know? Predicting the demise of the LGBT movement may seem rash in the present moment, as North Carolina prepares to battle the U.S. Department of Justice and Washington issues edicts demanding submission from every public school in America. But gender ideology is too incoherent and too inimical to real human good. It cannot outlast the moral indignation of the present hour.
