Congratulations to J͟u͟s͟t͟i͟c͟e͟ Kavanaugh!

Dear Friend—As you no doubt know, the US Senate voted 50-48 on Saturday to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the US Supreme Court! This is a tremendous victory for us and all Americans who revere the constitution and believe that it is the duty of the Supreme Court to uphold what the constitution says and not invent "constitutional rights" that don't exist in order to further a political agenda or ideology.

Justice Kavanaugh took two separate oaths late on Saturday – the Judicial Oath delivered by the man he is replacing, former Justice Anthony Kennedy, and the Constitutional Oath by Chief Justice John Roberts.

Kavanaugh will now join our nation's highest court as one of its most conservative members, giving the court a clear 5-4 conservative majority, as well as a pro-marriage majority.

The successful confirmation of Justice Kavanaugh is a tremendous accomplishment following a grueling process that began back in July when he was nominated by President Trump. NOM worked extremely hard on the confirmation and we are most gratified with the result.

With Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, there is now a path forward to restore marriage to our nation's laws by reversing the illegitimate Obergefell ruling imposing gay 'marriage' on the nation in 2015.

There are a number of people we need to thank, and I hope you will join me in doing so.

First, Senator Susan Collins of Maine did the right thing and stood with Justice Kavanaugh despite tremendous pressure from groups on the left. NOM led a special advocacy effort urging our many supporters in Maine to contact Senator Collins to ask for her support, which made a big difference. We thank Senator Collins for her vote.

Second, we targeted six Senate Democrats who are in states won by President Trump. One of those, Sen. Joe Manchin, voted to confirm Kavanaugh. We are extremely grateful to him for this principled vote.

Third, Senate Leader Mitch McConnell and Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley did an amazing job of moving the nomination forward, especially after Kavanaugh was sucker-punched by Democrats who, after his hearing was complete, accused him of sexual assault while in high school. McConnell and Grassley were champions for Kavanaugh and the rule of law.

Please call these Senators at 202-224-3121 to thank them for their support.

Of course, we all owe a debt of gratitude to President Donald J. Trump. Not only did he nominate Justice Kavanaugh in the first instance, but he resolutely stood by him in the face of a withering attack by the left and the media when the allegations were leveled at him. Many Republican presidents would have folded in the face of this pressure, but President Trump believed in Justice Kavanaugh and held firm. His confirmation becomes a lasting legacy of the Trump presidency.

This victory is extremely gratifying, but the battle to win the confirmation vote was incredibly difficult and exhausting. We put everything we had as an organization into this effort, and now we need to rebuild our war chest. If you could help us with a generous donation today, we would really appreciate it. Even more appreciated would be your signing up as a Sustaining Partner of NOM with a monthly donation:

With Justice Kavanaugh now in place, NOM will be leading an effort to restore marriage to our laws. It won't happen immediately, but we're determined to fight for this to occur at the earliest possible moment. Our team will be strategizing with lawyers and legal experts about the type of case, and the timing of such a case, to bring forward so that we can one day soon see the truth of marriage as the union of one man and one woman reflected in the laws of his nation.

Finally, I want to thank you, the loyal members of the National Organization for Marriage, for everything that you did to cause this victory to come about. To our donors, those who joined our Marriage Heroes campaign, to those who contacted their US Senators, to those who viewed and shared our Kavanaugh endorsement video, and those who prayed for this outcome, thank you! We are humbled and honored to call you friends, and fellow believers. May God richly reward you for your support.

Faithfully,
