Fighting in the Courts and the Court of Public Opinion

Dear Friend—There are just a few weeks left in the current US Supreme Court's term and we have a major case pending before the justices, one that holds the potential of tremendously benefiting all Americans who believe in marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

The case of Masterpiece Cakeshop v Colorado Civil Rights Commission is a huge case, and NOM has played a key role in it. As you know, the case involves Christian baker Jack Philipps who has been targeted by gay activists because he refused to be an active participant in a same-sex 'marriage' which violate his Christian beliefs about the true nature of marriage.

Help us to continue fighting in the courts for marriage!

What is at stake in this case goes far beyond the mere baking of a wedding cake, it impacts all people of faith who wish to live out their beliefs in their daily lives. It's about religious liberty broadly, one of the fundamental rights we possess as Americans. Religious liberty is our first freedom, and NOM is determined to fight for it.

Our ability to fight in the courts depends on the support we receive from our members. Will you step up today with a $35 or more membership contribution? Thanks to a generous supporter, every membership contribution we receive will be matched dollar for dollar, up to a total of $50,000! Membership in NOM is a minimum of $35, and there is no limit on the amount someone may give. Will you help?

The Masterpiece Cakeshop case is just one example of many where NOM has been active in the Courts. For example, we were a leading defender of a local school district that decided to maintain the security and privacy of its school restrooms, locker rooms and showers despite demands by a transgender student and liberal legal groups. That case made its way to the Supreme Court as well, and NOM was fighting every step of the way.

Along with our work in the courts, we also play a vital role in the court of public opinion, bringing much-needed attention to issues affecting people of faith and marriage supporters. Our brief in the Masterpiece Cakeshop case, for example, received nationwide media attention.

Generating news coverage of our issues is an essential component in shaping public opinion. The mainstream media fawns over the LGBT community, giving them extensive promotion. We have to fight hard to keep our perspective in the news and stand up for the strong majority of Americans who continue to believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman.

This mid-year membership drive is critical for our finances and programs.

Every dollar we receive will instantly double as a result of this match. Your $35 membership gift will result in NOM receiving $70.

Thank you for your support!
