Help Needed to Support Critical Religious Liberty Case

Dear Marriage Supporter — One of the most important cases ever involving the religious liberty rights of people of faith is now pending before the U.S. Supreme Court. Briefing in the case is complete. NOM has filed an important legal brief in support of the right of Christian bakers like Jack Phillips to refuse to participate in celebrating a gay 'wedding' if doing so violates their religious beliefs. Our brief has generated favorable national media coverage from newspapers across the country, including in publications like USA Today.

Next week we plan to begin a major push to rally support for Jack Phillips and the cause of religious freedom, but we need to raise $4,000 in additional funds to be ready to launch our nationwide push. Please act today with a generous gift.

The stakes are enormously high in this case, officially known as Masterpiece Cakeshop v Colorado Civil Rights Commission. Jack Phillips owns Masterpiece Cakeshop. He's a devout Christian who believes that marriage is the union of one man and one woman as the bible teaches. When he was asked to design and produce a custom cake for a gay 'wedding,' Jack politely refused, citing his Christian faith. For this, the state of Colorado imposed a fine, ordered him to start celebrating gay 'weddings' or stop celebrating any wedding, and ordered him to undergo a reeducation program, including filing quarterly compliance reports.

This totalitarian response from the state of Colorado is akin to something we might expect to see from strongman dictators in oppressive countries. It's certainly not something we should accept in America, a nation founded on the very principle of religious liberty.

Religious liberty is a guaranteed right in the U.S. Constitution. Gay 'marriage' is nowhere to be found in our constitution. It is an invention of elite judges, acting at the behest of LGBT extremists and their powerful allies in the culture, who imposed their own views on the country despite the action of over 50 million voters who decided to protect marriage in their state constitutions.

If Jack Phillips wins his case, we will have helped contain some of the worst damage done to people of faith as a result of the Supreme Court's Obergefell decision redefining marriage.

But if Jack loses his case, it will be open season on every person in America who simply does not want to personally be complicit in the lie of same-sex 'marriage.' We will have a huge political fight on our hands to reverse such a legal ruling.

It's critical that the American people know what is at stake in this case, which is why we are getting ready to launch a major educational and engagement campaign.

But we need to raise $4,000 in the next 48 hours to be successful. Can you help us?

Thanks to a generous donor, every gift we receive will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling the effectiveness of your donation. So please act today.

People often ask me what is the best way to help ensure that NOM is in a good position to carry on the fight no matter what happens in the courts or in Congress. The answer is simple: become a Sustaining Member of our organization.

As a Sustaining Member, you to make a monthly donation to support our work of any amount that is right for you, with a minimum donation of $7 per month. Some supporters contribute the minimum of $7, while others are able to give more. Whether you can contribute $7, $10, $15, $25, $50 or even $100 or more per month, please act today .

A huge reason to act today is that by becoming a Sustaining Member now your monthly pledge amount will be matched dollar for dollar for an entire year! Your pledge $10 per month, will result in NOM receiving $120 in matching funds thanks to this incredible offer!

Whether you can step up and become a Sustaining Member or prefer to make a generous one-time donation, please act today. We're $4,000 short of being able to launch a major push to educate the public about the importance of the Masterpiece Cakeshop case, and we need your help. Whatever you decide to donate, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar.

Please act today so that we have the funds to launch our planned educational and activation campaign next week. Thank you for your support.

Faithfully,

Brian S Brown
