Demand that Congress Get Off Its Rear and Prohibit Government Discrimination Against People of Faith

Dear Marriage Supporter,

It's been ten months since Sen. Mike Lee and Rep. Raul Labrador introduced the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) protecting the right of Christians and people of faith to live out the truth of marriage in their daily lives and at work without fear of being punished for doing so by the federal government. Over two hundred members of Congress have added their names as co-sponsors of the legislation (S. 1598/HR 2802) but that's about all they have done. No hearings have been scheduled and nothing of substance is happening to actually enact the legislation. It looks like all talk and no action from a do-nothing Congress.

It's time to tell Congress to get off their collective behinds and get to work to pass this critical legislation! That's why we are launching a Fax For FADA campaign. Please sign our petition to the Republican leadership and members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to immediately pass the First Amendment Defense Act and we will fax every Republican member of the committee and the Republican leadership on your behalf. This will cost you nothing!

All across the country, individuals and small businesses have been victimized by LGBT extremists who demand that everyone regardless of personal views must participate in a same-sex wedding ceremony whenever asked or face ruinous actions by the government. People and groups have been fined, fired, put out of business and seen their reputations ruined — all because they personally do not want to be involved in something they consider to be morally wrong.

Here are just some of the victims:

When Americans had the opportunity to vote on the definition of marriage, LGBT activists fervently promised us that nobody would ever be hurt if marriage was redefined. But now that they have gotten five unelected lawyers on the US Supreme Court to impose their radical agenda on the nation, they've reneged on their promises to voters. Now, they claim that Christians and people of faith are "bigots" who want to "discriminate" against gays and lesbians simply because they don't want to be personally involved in celebrating such a 'wedding.'

What bunk!

Let's be clear — the only people who are being discriminated against in America today when it comes to marriage are Christians and people of faith who simply do not wish to be personally complicit in the lie of same-sex 'marriage' and violate their oath to God to follow His commands.

It's not enough for the LGBT extremists that they have been handed an illegitimate and anti-constitutional ruling imposing gay 'marriage' on the nation; now they insist that everyone in the country must personally go along with the new orthodoxy or face ruinous persecution.

Support the First Amendment Defense Act

The only way to defend ourselves against these outrageous extremists is to pass the First Amendment Defense Act. An overwhelming majority of American voters believe that nobody should be forced into being involved in a same-sex 'wedding' against their beliefs. FADA will provide needed protections. We also need to pass legislation like this at the state level.

Please act right now to sign our petition to the Republican leadership and the members of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform demanding that they move forward immediately to pass FADA and we will send a fax on your behalf to each member.

As bad as these things already are, they could get a whole lot worse as the federal government can exercise phenomenal power to attempt to force marriage supporters to abandon their viewpoints or risk punitive measures. Nonprofit groups like NOM or charities representing religious groups could be stripped of their tax exemption. Religious schools could be denied accreditation. Charitable and social welfare groups could be put out of business unless they change their polices and positions. The potential ways that the Obama Administration or Hillary Clinton could punish supporters of marriage are virtually limitless.

That's why it is imperative that Congress get off its duff and pass the First Amendment Defense Act. Let the Republican leadership and members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee know that you are tired of waiting and that it is time for them to act.

Please sign our petition today so that Congress gets the message that the First amendment Defense Act is must-pass legislation and we will send a fax on your behalf.

Act Today! Defend Religious Liberty

NOM is prepared to spend whatever is necessary to fax every member of the Republican leadership and the members of the OGR committee so that they know your position on this critical issue. We will pay all costs associated with this program. However, if you are able to make a voluntary contribution -- $10, $25, or $50 — to help us defray the costs, we would be grateful. Again, we will gladly send faxes to all the targeted members of the House whether you can make a financial contribution or not because we believe this is the best opportunity to move this critical legislation forward.

In addition to signing our petition and considering making a purely voluntary financial contribution to NOM, there's one more thing I'd like you to do. Please consider calling at least one of the members of the GOP House leadership or committee members directly. Their names and phone numbers are here for you to use. Urge them to move forward to pass the crucial First Amendment Defense Act today!
