Episcopal Church of the US Suspended from Anglican Communion

After several years of openly embracing same-sex 'marriage,' including a vote last year to allow clergy to perform gay 'weddings,' the Episcopal Church of the United States has been suspended from the world-wide Anglican Communion. The Church has been stripped of any role in leadership or decision-making for at least three years.

The full-on embrace of homosexual conduct by the Episcopal Church has been a source of deep controversy for many years. A flash point occurred when the church installed Gene Robinson, an open homosexual involved in a sexual relationship with a younger man. Robinson's "marriage" to his partner eventually ended in divorce.

Because of its abandonment of biblical values, membership in the Episcopal Church in the US has been in free fall for many years.

Christianity Today has the story about the church's suspension.
