Yesterday President Obama issued a proclamation commemorating June as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) month. While declaring support for federal civil unions, conspicuously absent from this declaration is any reference to same-sex marriage or efforts to repeal DOMA:
"Here at home, I continue to support measures to bring the full spectrum of equal rights to LGBT Americans. These measures include enhancing hate crimes laws, supporting civil unions and Federal rights for LGBT couples, outlawing discrimination in the workplace, ensuring adoption rightsand ending the existing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy in a way that strengthens our Armed Forces and our national security."
What are your thoughts on President Obama's proclamation?

I think that is a great start. As an American I support the constitution and every ones right to peruse happiness. Limit the freedom of others and we will be no better off than Iran. I suggest those that want a religious government, theocracy, to move there or keep your beliefs to your self.
Where does NOM think that gay and lesbian Americans are going once NOM has "won" its marriage battles?
Clark, I don't understand your question. Won't they go wherever they want to go?
Ryan, isn't that just a convenient method of silencing those who disagree with you? All opinions are ok, as long as they agree with yours? If you don't agree, keep it to yourself right? Sounds like a one way road. We ought to welcome all views and let those views be scrutinized in the arena of ideas equally. Let each idea stand on its own merit. Marriage and family are the stability of society. Your whim to change society needs to have a bit more than just your belief that gender doesn't matter.
Marriage isn't about sexual orientation. People are free to act as they please. They just aren't free to change the basis of human creation because they don't like it.
