But in the same poll, 75% of New Yorkers (and 63% of conservatives) say that gay marriage or civil unions should be legal.

In fact, 50% of those who said that marriage should be between one man and one woman favor either gay marriage or civil unions.

So these results look odd to me.

"Registered voters do not significantly differ in opinion from adults as a whole. Among registered voters, 51% favor legalizing gay marriage while 28% support civil unions but not marriage for gay and lesbian couples. Slightly more than one in five voters -- 21% -- doesn’t believe there should be any recognition of gay and lesbian relationships."

Only NOM can look at a poll showing 79% support for gay Americans and their families and still say that their 21% is a majority on their side. lol

The only poll that tells the truth is the voting booth. I would never tell a pollster my opinion on gay marriage; I don't need homosexual radicals coming after me and my family because of my views. And you can bet that there are plenty like me out there. These polls are crap.

Only NOM can spin this around. Here is a quote from the poll results:
"Registered voters do not significantly differ in opinion from adults as a whole. Among registered voters, 51% favor legalizing gay marriage while 28% support civil unions but not marriage for gay and lesbian couples. Slightly more than one in five voters -- 21% -- doesn’t believe there should be any recognition of gay and lesbian relationships."

How does that translate into "Breaking News: New Poll Shows Majority of New Yorkers Reject SSM"??
