Bishop of RI says DOMA decision a "clear dereliction of duty"

Bishop Thomas Tobin of Providence, RI's official statement:

"President Obama's decision to stop defending the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is a clear dereliction of duty and an obvious attempt to promote a politically-correct agenda in our nation. The President's incomprehensible and misguided decision should also serve as a call to action for citizens of Rhode Island who are currently confronting a similar attempt to impose same-sex marriage on our state. The Catholic Church in Rhode Island will redouble its efforts to protect and promote the traditional values of marriage and family that have been given to us by God and serve as the foundation of our culture."

    Go Bishop Tobin!

For many years, homosexual activists have particularly singled out the Catholic Church as a target for their attacks. This is not at all surprising because communists have always considered the Catholic Church to be their arch enemy and have devoted countless resources over many decades attempting to bring down the Church.

Now, finally, after having turned the other cheek countless times, the Catholic Church has had to accept the reality that it must stand and fight for what is right and good and that it must fight with ALL it's might.

Homosexual activists have mistaken the tolerance of the Church for weakness and for an unwillingness to commit to total battle. That will prove to be a fatal error on their part. The Catholic Church has plenty of muscle, it simply feels a moral obligation to exhaust all other means before demonstrating it's power. All lesser remedies having been exhausted now, the full weight of the Church will be brought to bear.
