Will you help deliver 847 FADA petitions to Congress?

Dear Marriage Supporter,

NOM has generated over 120,000 petitions to Congress urging them to move the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) to the floor of the US House of Representatives where it can be enacted and passed to the Senate.

But now we have a critical problem — we are short of funds to print, prepare and ship the petitions. That is why it's so important that our Summer Membership Drive continues strong throughout this month where supporters contribute at least $35 to fund our work.

Please take a look at what impact your contribution will have and immediately let us know what you can do:

Your $35 membership gift will allow us to deliver 847 petitions to Congress

Your $70 membership gift will allow us to deliver 1,695 petitions to Congress

Your $100 membership gift will allow us to deliver 2,421 petitions to Congress

Your $250 membership gift will allow us to deliver 6,050 petitions to Congress

Your $500 membership gift will allow us to deliver 12,100 petitions to Congress

FADA is critical legislation needed to protect the right of supporters of marriage to live out their views about marriage in their daily lives and at work without being punished by the government for their beliefs. It protects churches, religious societies and orders, and nonprofit groups by prohibiting the IRS from removing their tax exemptions. It protects religious schools from being denied accreditation. It protects charities from having to abandon their faith in order to receive grants or contracts with the federal government. And it prohibits the government from targeting pastors, individuals, and small businesses for any adverse action because of their beliefs about marriage.

The challenge we have is that we need to raise $4,955.85 this week to deliver to Congress the 120,025 FADA petitions we have in hand.

Will you please act today to make a summer membership contribution of at least $35? We'll put it to immediate use delivering the petitions we've collected and keep pressure on Congress to enact FADA.

You'd think that a GOP Congress would act of its own accord to protect Christians and other people of faith who believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman. But the truth is that LGBT extremists have the GOP leadership skittish, worried that they will face the same kind of backlash they have generated in places like North Carolina and Indiana. LGBT extremists have powerful allies among big corporations, the media, Hollywood and big-time sports, and their coalition can generate a lot of heat.

The only way that we are going to advance FADA is by showing that average Americans — people like you and I — support, indeed demand, that this legislation be passed. NOM's petition drive is a critical component in illustrating the overwhelming support for FADA.

Once we deliver the 120,000+ petitions we already have collected, we can continue our drive to generate even more petitions until Congress feels such pressure that they cannot ignore FADA and the House of Representatives passes this critical legislation.

But right now we can't even deliver the petitions we already have in hand unless you respond to this urgent Summer Membership Drive. Please act today.

Faithfully,

Brian S Brown

PS — Your summer membership contribution of $35 will allow us to deliver 847 FADA petitions to Congress. Can you please chip in at least that amount? If you're able to give more, we'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
