Gutless House Republicans Betray Christians and People of Faith to Impose Obama's Illegal "Transgender Discrimination" Rules

Dear Marriage Supporter,

In the latest betrayal by Republicans who campaign as conservatives but vote with LGBT extremists, 43 GOP members of the House of Representatives have voted to cement Barack Obama's insane transgender "discrimination" policies in law, prohibiting any entity from contracting with the federal government unless they endorse the administration's radical gender-bending agenda.

Let's get this straight: these 43 Republicans have voted to protect the right of men who claim a female "identity" to use the women's restroom and showers, sacrificing the privacy and security of actual women in the process; meanwhile, they still have not scheduled a vote on critical legislation (the First Amendment Defense Act) to protect the right of Christians and other people of faith to uphold the truth of marriage and human sexuality without fear of government persecution!

As far as I am concerned, these 43 Republicans should be taken to the woodshed by their constituents. If this vote is an example of what it means to have Republican control of Congress, what's the point? A Congress led by Nancy Pelosi would have voted the same way — supporting President Obama's illegal order and discriminating against people of faith. But at least Pelosi doesn't pretend that she is a conservative.

You can see a list of the 43 Republicans who betrayed us here. I am mad as I can be about this betrayal, and I want the constituents of each of these gutless Republicans to know what their representative has done. To do so, we're planning an intense, targeted online advertising campaign to educate the constituents of these 43 Republican members of Congress about their representative's vote.

Will you help us hold these turncoats accountable? Please make an immediate contribution of $25, $50, $100 or $500 or more so that we can take our fight directly to the constituents of the 43 who betrayed us. Launching an intensive online ad program like this is expensive, and we are depending on you to step forward to help with a generous financial contribution.

Our friend Ryan Anderson of The Heritage Foundation wrote an excellent piece for the Daily Signal explaining just what these 43 Republicans have done. Because of their vote, they have given legitimacy to President Obama's executive order prohibiting "discrimination" against transgender people, and barring any entity from contracting with the federal government unless they have specific policies in place to prevent "transgender discrimination."

Under the Obama rules, if an entity has a bathroom policy based on the biological reality of gender, they are guilty of discrimination and ineligible to be a federal contractor. If an adoption agency feels a child is best served by having a married mother and father, the agency is guilty of discrimination and cannot be a federal government contractor. A Christian school that does not open its female dorms to a man claiming a female gender identity is guilty of discrimination. Even refusing to use a transgender person's preferred pronoun (some of which are bizarre and nonsensical, such as ze and hir) could subject you to a claim of discrimination! In some jurisdictions like New York, it could also result in a fine of $250,000.

This rule impacts individuals, small businesses, religious groups, and any other potential contractor—in other words, this law would remove the possibility for any person of faith who adheres to a biblical understanding of gender and human sexuality to have a contractual relationship with the federal government.

The 43 Republicans who voted to cement Obama's policies in place need to be held accountable. That is why we are planning this intensive online advertising campaign to reach their constituents. But we need your immediate financial help to do so. Please make a contribution today of $35, $50, $75, $100 or $250 or more so that we can move this effort forward.

In contrast to the weak-kneed Republicans who caved into pressure from LGBT extremists, nearly a dozen states and school districts have filed a federal lawsuit challenging Obama's illegal transgender policies. Led by Texas, these states and school districts rightly point out that Obama does not have the legal authority to redefine "sex" in federal law, and cannot adopt policies that seek to force schools to open their girls' bathrooms to men claiming a female "gender identity."

Support the Fight Against
President Obama's Gender Insanity

We commend Texas and those other states challenging President Obama's transgender rules in our schools, and NOM will be supporting them in court with legal briefs.

Please act today with your most generous gift — $25, $50, $100, $250 or $500 or more — so that we can hold the 43 Republican legislative turncoats accountable, and move forward with legal briefs opposing Obama's illegal transgender rules.

This is a critical battle. Politicians must feel the heat when they betray the values of their constituents and put the privacy and security of girls at risk. We cannot allow Barack Obama to act as if he were a king, imposing his liberal values on anyone having business with the federal government, let alone on students in classrooms, bathrooms, showers and changing areas.

Please give generously so we can hold Obama and the other politicians accountable.

Faithfully,

Brian S Brown

PS — Your gift of $25, $50, or $100 or more will allow us to reach thousands of constituents of the 43 Republicans who voted to impose Obama's transgender policies on Christians and other people of faith, and will help us fight Obama's quest to impose transgender rules generated by LGBT extremists that violate the privacy and security of girls and women in the most intimate of circumstances. Please act today.
