Tweet Congress in Support of Our First Freedom!

Dear Marriage Supporter,

As you know, Sen. Mike Lee and Rep. Raul Labrador have introduced the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) in Congress to protect the right of Christians and people of faith to live out the truth of marriage in their daily lives and at work, without fear of being punished for doing so by the Federal Government. Over two hundred members of Congress have added their names as co-sponsors of the legislation (S. 1598/HR 2802).

But the bill has been stuck in committee for 10 months!

We need to tell Congress to stop ignoring the issue and get to work passing this critical legislation! That's what I'm asking for your help with today.

Today the Oversight and Government Reform Committee (OGR) is holding hearings to discuss "The Best and Worst Places to Work in the Federal Government." Well, one way the Federal Government can ensure better workplaces is to ensure individuals don't need to leave their First Amendment rights at home when they go to work!

This Committee, under the Chairmanship of Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), is responsible for getting the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) marked up and passed to Congress for a full vote — but as yet the Committee has done nothing!

So, here's what I'm asking from you today: Click on one or more of the following Tweets and send a message to Chairman Chaffetz and the GOP-controlled OGR urging them to pass FADA from Committee now, in order to protect the rights of all American workers to abide by their consciences and deeply-held beliefs without fear of reprisals.

Please also forward this message to family and friends and get them engaged. If you have time, come back to this email later in the day yourself and send another message — it's as easy as clicking on the pre-written Tweets and then clicking "Tweet" from your Twitter account! This is especially important during the hearing, which will begin at 2:00 PM EDT and run probably until at least 3:00 PM.

We know that the Committee and Representative Chaffetz will be watching their social media today as they tweet out coverage of the hearing: let's take this opportunity to send them a message they're sure to see, and get a hearing scheduled for FADA right away!

Make your voice heard: Tell Congress #FADA deserves a hearing!

Faithfully,

Brian S Brown

PS: If you haven't already done so, you can also send a Fax to the OGR Committee members today by joining our "Fax for FADA" Campaign!
