Governor Pence Declares He Will Not Support Any Bill That Threatens Religious Liberty

Dear Marriage Supporter,

We've won a big victory! After thousands of NOM supporters contacted Governor Mike Pence through our petition, the Indiana governor said forcefully in his state of the state address, "I will not support any bill that diminishes the religious freedom of Hoosiers or that interferes with the Constitutional rights of our citizens to live out their beliefs in worship, service or work."

This is a tremendous victory, because before our petition was launched, the governor was reported to be considering so-called "sexual orientation/gender identity" legislation that creates special legal rights for gays, lesbians and the 'transgendered.' Among other things, legislation like this allows men to force themselves into intimate facilities reserved for girls and women, such as locker rooms and restrooms, based on a claim that they "feel" as if they are really a woman. This type of legislation has also been used to target supporters of true marriage with massive fines and other punishment simply because they do not wish to be personally involved in celebrating a homosexual 'wedding.'

NOM commends Governor Pence for his strong commitment in support of the religious liberty rights of people of faith. Please add your name to this "Thank You" petition to Governor Pence letting him know you appreciate him standing strong.

After you've signed the petition, please forward it to others who might also like to let Governor Pence know that they appreciate his strong support of religious liberty.

Faithfully,

Brian S Brown
