Dear Marriage Supporter,
Alabama is under attack.
As I'm sure you've heard, a single federal judge recently ruled that the Alabama amendment — passed by 80% of the voters — defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman somehow violates the Constitution of the United States.
What's even more unbelievable is that this judge — knowing that the Supreme Court will be weighing in on this issue in a few very short months has refused to stay her decision and is trying to force Alabama officials to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples immediately!
This is ludicrous!
Thankfully, Alabama has some heroes willing to stand up and defend marriage.
Chief among them is Alabama State Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore who has encouraged clerks to ignore the absurd demands of this single judge and respect the law of the state of Alabama regarding marriage.
The great news is that over 50 of Alabama's 61 Counties are standing with their state's leadership and refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples!
But they need our support.
It's an important action to take — one that we don't do often enough. We're copying the Governor of Alabama, Robert Bentley, on the email to encourage him to support Justice Moore, secure in the knowledge that America is willing to stand behind marriage champions.

I'm also asking you to please make an immediate donation to NOM to help us get the word out far and wide about the situation occurring in Alabama and throughout the country.
The most important thing we can do to protect the ordinary Americans like the government employees of the state of Alabama — who are being threatened with lawsuits by groups like the ACLU — is to stand united in defense of marriage.
NOM is doing this in many ways — the chief of which is organizing the 2015 March for Marriage in Washington, DC this April 25th.
And, as I said in my email yesterday, a generous donor has stepped up and issued a matching gift of $100,000, which means every dollar you donate right now will be matched dollar-for-dollar! And all contributions to the NOM Education Fund in support of the March are tax-deductible.
It's becoming more and more obvious that the radicals trying to redefine marriage are gunning for people like you and me who believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman.
They are trying to use the levers of government to punish us for our beliefs. They are trying to relegate our most precious religious teachings to a place shut off from public life. They are trying to destroy our most sacred religious liberties.
We cannot let that happen.
Marriage Supporter, we are up against tremendous obstacles... we have a very short amount of time to organize and execute this March, which is logistically challenging and expensive. And we are fighting an opponent that has seemingly limitless financial resources.
Don't let marriage be redefined out of existence! Please stand with NOM today and make a financial investment in our future and in our children's future by supporting our incredibly important and critically urgent work.
Time is running out for us to make our case. Please don't stand on the sidelines. Now is the time for all Americans of good will to stand up and defend marriage.

P.S. Now is the time to stand up in defense of marriage. The situation in Alabama just crystallizes the situation for us: the effort to redefine marriage across the country is being used as a means to punish ordinary people like you and me who believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman. I need you to do two things for me.
First, click here to email Alabama State Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore thanking him for standing up in defense of marriage and fighting back against the overreach of an activist federal judiciary. Governor Bentley will also be copied on the email, so he can see the tremendous support marriage and champions who defend it have throughout the country. We must encourage good public officials to take a stand for marriage.
Secondly, NOM needs your financial assistance to get the word out about the situation in Alabama and across the country. The media ignores the real story: that ordinary people who believe in marriage are being targeted and threatened with punitive measures if they don't abandon their deeply held beliefs in the public square. Principally, NOM is organizing the 2015 March for Marriage in Washington, DC on April 25th. Please click the appropriate link below to make an investment in NOM, in marriage and in the future of our great nation.
