"It's the beginning of the end for what once was one of America's noblest organizations." — Brian Brown, President, NOM —

National Organization for Marriage

Washington, D.C. — The following statement may be attributable to Brian Brown, President of the National Organization for Marriage:

"Today is a sad day for the Boy Scouts of America. They have succumbed to political pressure and abandoned their historic roots in what will prove to be a failed attempt to appease gay activists and corporate donors. Unfortunately, what they have done is said to the world that their oath no longer means much. Their decision to admit openly gay scouts will end up sexualizing the organization. I am certain that having changed their policy on homosexuality, it's only a matter of time before courts order them to admit homosexual scout leaders. Meanwhile, countless thousands of churches will very likely pull their sponsorship rather than endorse homosexuality, and the entire organization will begin to collapse. All of this is happening not because of a true grassroots demand of gay youth to be part of the organization but by an orchestrated political effort by gay activists who want to punish any group or organization that does not embrace homosexuality. It's the beginning of the end for what once was one of America's noblest organizations."

What does this have to do with marriage?

Does anyone know of particular clone organizations similar to the Boy Scouts of America that could continue the gender separation of boys from girls?

Their time of opportunity has come. Do we have information on dissenting patrons of the BSA?

This offers other similar structured groups the financial possibility of competing against the Boy Scouts of America.

In essence, they've placed boys who think they are girls, camping out with lots of boys who think they are boys.

They could have simply joined the Girl Scouts with the Boy Scouts, if they want to include training in 'tolerance'. How about tolerating those who believe boys are different than girls?

My dad became an Eagle Scout. He simply believes people cannot leave things that work alone (they have to 'fix it').

There will be cases of behavior pattern confusion not even the tight structure of the BSA will be able to handle.

Of course, they can decide whatever they want. Who is 'out'?

This article speaks of the vote, and dissenting troop leaders:

    - - - John Stemberger, from Orlando, Fla., has two sons in the Boy Scouts. He started a group opposing the change called "On My Honor." After the decision was announced, he said he and his sons — who have yet to reach Eagle Scout — were leaving the Boy Scouts.

"Sex and politics just have no place in the Boy Scouts of America," Stemberger said in Grapevine. "The entire process was disappointing." - - -

Time to pull our kids out of scouting for their own protection. This is a sad day for what scouting used to stand for.

I know many families that are pulling their children out of Scouting because of this.

I don't think I will ever understand why militant gays have to sexualize EVERYTHING. It's all they talk about, as if any of the 5 gazillion other things going on in life don't matter.. When I apply for a job, I don't say "Hi, I'm John, and I'm straight.." I don't imagine straight people go blaring their sexual preferences in the military, in school, at work, in church, or really, anywhere. For whatever reason, some gays feel that they have to go blaring from the rooftops their sexuality, whether you want to hear it or not. It's ridiculous. TMI. Maybe its time we started telling everyone within earshot" Hi! I'm STRAIGHT!! WOOHOOO! I'm a heterosexual and proud of it!! " Maybe we should force people writing textbooks to announce everyone from the beginning of time to today of any historical significance their sexual orientation. Perhaps we should make our own straight pride flag. It's ridiculous.

Obviously not. But there has been a definite change, probably due to special scrutiny necessary.
