National Organization for Marriage

Washington, D.C.—The following statement may be attributed to Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage:

"It appears that France's socialist government is on the verge of succeeding in their ill-conceived quest to redefine marriage, despite massive grassroots opposition from the citizenry. We urge all French citizens to contact lawmakers to express their strong opposition to this policy. We also call on all citizens to conduct themselves honorably and peacefully. Even though the same-sex marriage policy being foisted on an unwilling public is profoundly unwise and anti-family, no citizen should ever express their disapproval through violent means. We condemn in the strongest possible terms violence by anyone on either side of this debate.

If the government of France does succeed with this vote to redefine marriage, it will not be the end of the debate. It will be time to hold the government accountable and to act to restore marriage to its rightful place as a good and honorable institution that brings husbands and wives together to provide children with both a mother and a father. NOM will continue to work with our friends in France to defend marriage as our most important social institution.

Specifically, NOM is working with the Collectif Famille Mariage (CFM), a charter member of the International Organization for Marriage (IOM). CFM—along with a wide coalition of pro-marriage organizations—is imploring France's Constitutional Council to carefully study and limit the scope of this law, which has been rushed through the Senate and the National Assembly.”

OKB, there are indeed many more than four. Though I admit none are more prolifically otiose and insulting than Randy. Even Barb tends towards the demeaning of fellow humans. None of you do any credit to your side.

Chairim is just unreadable. A Million variations on a single point of argument ( something about integrative vs separative - please, enough already).

Of course, if the opposition dislikes this blog so much, they are more than welcome to go elsewhere. In the unlikely event that I begin to miss your narrative, I can just turn on the TV.

Bobby, is incest a sexual orientation? Surely all the arguments that apply to gays apply here too:

-People cant help who theyre attracted to
-Incest doesnt harm anyone (as long as they dont have children who turn out inbred)
-The arguments against it are mainly based on religion and peoples perceptions of it being "icky" and "disgusting"

I would like to know what the gay community thinks?

Randy is right, a 'pervert' is simply a person who exhibits sexual attractions or behaviours which are deviant from the norm; i.e.: not the majority. Homosexuality is practiced by about 5% of the population, therefore it is by definition perversion

Mik, dumb question. If course incest is not a sexual orientation. Where exactly would incest lie on the continuum between homo and hetero sexual orientation? Think sexual fetish, not orientation.

Richard said: Alessandra, of the millions of children of gay couples, I strongly suspect most are adopted...from straight couples who for any number of reasons were incapable of offering a loving, nurturing home environment. Your scare tactics lack any weight against the reality of which I try to enlighten you.
    ....................................
With your dishonest agenda, it's really irrelevant what you think or suspect.

Thinking about how children are deprived by homosexual couples is not a "scare" tactics. It's thinking about children's rights.

Of course, people with a homosexual agenda can care less about how much they deprive children or how children suffer by having such dysfunctional parents.

There is nothing uglier than people who gleefully deprive a child of a mother (or father) like homosexuals do.

    Incorrect, and the bottom line:

Seth : That is friendship, and opposite partners can and do have friendships. Friendships did not create any need for civil marriage for the government. Of course, you can vote it into legislation, but there's still no valid government interest in defining civil marriage as merely a matter of love and commitment.

And Bobby continues to err: "There are 2 sexual orientations - heterosexuality, the majority orientation and homosexuality, the minority orientation."

Says who? if, so, we could add pedophile as a sexual orientation, legal or not, it would still be a case of "they were born that way". I would also add the sadist, but that's already included as common 'gay' behavior.

Bobby "reasons": there are two sexes, and therefore
4 possible combinations. Then defines sexual orientation as same-sex or opposite-sex (2). And then asks whether there's any more. Duh.

Who can reason against logic? Booby is the expert in circular reasoning, here.

Newsflash -- NOTHING has changed for French heterosexuals, except that their fears will slowly dissipate as they realize granting marraige to all adult consenting couples is truly the christian thing to do.

Bobby - Orientation isn't mentioned in the Constitution. So I don't see how you can justify discriminating on such a basis.

    Yeah, kinda like being left-handed.

Jeanette Exner justify the SSM imposition. Talk of equality is empty unless you can explain what you actually mean.

It is not even close to "millions of children" raised by "gay couples".

    .............................;
So being a pedophile or engaging in S&M or wanting to see people eat excrement or having a homosexual problem are just "like being left-handed"?

People who normalize homosexuality have such deformed minds.

If perverts are given a choice of declaring themselves normal and healthy or acknowledging what they are - what do they choose?

    Jeanette gives us the answer.

Earth to Jeanette" A comment RE your statement that "Well SURE, if you want a comment section that consists solely of people preaching to the choir. Why even have a comment section at all?" So, what's wrong with that? That's ALREADY the case at leftist sites.

Jeanette, can you put together a soundly reasoned argument in favor of the SSM imposition? You have not done so, yet, here in the comment sections of this blogsite. Your participation does not add the balance you promised if it lacks sound reasoning.

Exactly! If SSMers want to bring a "fresh perspective" to the NOM site, then they need to send in their top guns.

14 countries out of 196? And 11 states out of 50? REAL marriage is still ahead by far and is still holding strong regardless of the misconceptions the bloated government and the biased media spoon feed you.

BTW, Delaware and Rhode Island are microscopic compared to most other states. Feeling such triumph over winning them goes to show how desperate you are to cling morsels of victory after such a long series of defeats.
