Former Government minister Tim Loughton was sacked because of his opposition to redefining marriage, according to reports.
He was removed from his ministerial post in September’s Government reshuffle, and close friends say it was because of his support for keeping marriage as it is.
One Tory MP told the Scotsman newspaper: “Tim was a really good minister whose career was wrecked because of his stance on this issue on a matter of principle.
“It shows that, already, this bill is poisoning the party and destroying careers.”
David Cameron promised that Tory MPs would have a free vote, but behind the scenes a lot of pressure was applied to stop them breaking rank.

The Gaystopo strikes again.
And this is yet another example of why the Left can never be reasoned with. Our job as conservatives is now clear: to NEVER allow the Left, or any of its exponents, into positions of power again.
Correction: sacked for taking a tropical boondoggle while his department of government was in financial crisis.
High school principal sacked for personally supporting same-sex marriage:

I wonder if any of the people who cried so loudly about Angela McCaskill being suspended (but ultimately reinstated) from her job at Gaullaudet University for signing a petition supporting a referendum on same-sex marriage in Maryland will come to his defense?
@John,
If the gentlemen was sacked for supporting SSM at an institution that shared his ideology we would agree with you, but he wasn't, and they don't.
Apples to Oranges much?
How unfortunate. Sadly, Mr. Loughton isn't the first person fired--or punished by their employer--for opposing ssm.
Martyrs are understood, not when they were unjustly punished by lack of tolerance, but much later when their sacrifice is seen to turn the tide of public opinion.
There's no better way to become famous right away than to be fired for the petty issue of a same-sex marriage pronouncement. Yes, you realize finally who you have been working for - a zealot willing to force his petty, superficial political ideas on you.
So, you will be blessed two-fold:
a) Released from the bondage to an inferior boss or corporation.
b) Rewarded with many other choices for a job under a just boss or corporation.
This, i think, is the path to true happiness. Martyrdom requires faith.
Martyrs don't indulge themselves at tropical destinations whilst their area of responsibility is in financial crisis.
You are a martyr yourself, SearchCz. We all die gradually. Life is gone quickly. We can either give our time for a cause, or to pleasure. Many martyrs die in tropical destinations. You just blabber whatever comes to mind. Did you get your eyeglasses?
