Vote Could Still Happen in Illinois -- Take Action Now!

[This post has been updated to reflect the latest information we are receiving from Illinois. -ed]

Even though we scored a victory in Illinois by preventing SSM from passing the full Senate today, our opponents haven’t given up and neither can we.

As expected, proponents of gay marriage passed the bill through the Senate executive committee tonight, allowing a possible floor vote as early as next week. This means we need to redouble our efforts.

Please contact your state senators in Springfield ASAP!

Please click here to look up phone numbers for your legislators.

And use this link to send them an email!

If we keep up the pressure, we have a real chance of stopping this lame-duck movement to impose SSM. This fight won’t be over until the session has been gaveled to a close!

Stay faithful and please contact your legislators.

To gay people & your supporters, please stop calling it "marriage equality" because it's not .

@Will - this is an attempt by your side (gays / liberals & your supporters) by forcing the radical homosexual agenda on those of us who oppose it. The radical homosexual agenda is (I'm sure other from our side will add to this list)

1)redefine marriage to their sick & twisted view

2)indoctrinate children (as young as 5 years old) to their sick & demented lifestyle

3)force churches to marry these abnormal people to one another or lose their tax-exempt status

4)bring lawsuits to those businesses who refuse to service them(even though that business has a right to refuse any service to anyone).

5)adoption agencies SHOULD NOT be forced (but are) to put kids with 2 abnormal people, that IS NOT a family.

6)opposing the radical homosexual agenda is not hate speech (but you guys are trying to do that)

7)wanting our side to be tolerant, but not your side (as proven by the recent approval of Prop.8 in California)

8)trying to get activist judges to overrule the passing of banning same-sex marriage in the states that passed it.

one more thing that I would like to add, to all gay people- GET A BACKBONE. you people cry like little babies if someone uses a anti-gay mark against someone else & then they have to apologize in public (examples - Kobe Bryant / Charlie Sheen, etc), deal with it. people have been calling each names for centuries, but the don't sue the other person. they either ignore it or say the same thing to that other person. I'm sooo sick of GLADD having to tell others to apologize for their anti-gay remarks that been around for a long time. people call me names & I ignore them & I walk away.

I don't have to, because we have been explaining it already through out these posts here on this website & if you choose to ignore them, then that's not my problem.

Hooray for marriage equality! The love of my life and I were married in Maine last week and we couldn't be happier. With coverage in the NYTimes and other papers and outlets, we had congratulations from friends all over the country ! Let's hear it for marriage equality rolling across the country!

    @seththayer: Congrats!
@quinn: is SSM a more neutral term? Either way, I support my lgbtq brothers and sisters having the same rights and responsibilities as my wife and I have (ergo the word, equality).

    Tickled pink are you?
What are you celebrating by the way? The union of two people?
Because over here that is not what we celebrate. Over here we celebrate the union of the opposite sexes. I think you have the wrong address, among other things.

Of course if we had a vocabulary worthy of a civilized people these misunderstandings could be avoided. I mean come on, we even have words like “ergo” in our dictionaries...

Marriage Equality = Confusing innocent children about their gender because of adult selfish interests in immoral behavior.

Interesting that those who shriek for made up "rights" will, in the next breath, restrict your enumerated rights. Their leaders hate our society, their followers are simply ignorant.

@Quinn, all marriage supporters know that "marriage equality" is a propaganda term. No use in trying to get SSMers to stop using it.

But if it makes you feel better, they hate it when we speak of "protecting", "defending", and "preserving" marriage.

    Homosexuality is perversion.
    Homosexual marriage is non-existent.
