Obama Gets Involved After Illinois Democrats Waver Over SSM

Gay marriage is not a done deal in Illinois, that's why President Obama is getting involved to tip the scales among wavering Democrats who know their constituents do not support redefining marriage -- this is another reason why it is so important for you to take action and contact your lawmakers if you live in Illinois:

President Barack Obama is urging the Illinois General Assembly to legalize gay marriage in his home state as lawmakers are poised to take up the measure as early as this week in Springfield.

... The lead sponsors of the "Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act," state Sen. Heather Steans (D-Chicago) and state Rep. Greg Harris (D-Chicago), intend to put the measure up for a vote during the upcoming January lame-duck session.

The toughest challenge for gay marriage backers will be winning passage in the Illinois House. Prospects for approval in the Illinois Senate--where Obama once served--are brighter.

The practical impact of Obama urging his home state to legalize gay marriage is to prod--and give political cover to--reluctant Democrats from conservative suburban and Downstate districts. -- The Chicago Sun-Times

let's support Doma for God and Country, I knew that Newt Gingrich would be stupid enough to support same sex marriage.

No push against gang violence? Against a growing murder rate? But homosexual "marriage" gets a federal level support. Life is cheap in this country, and homosexual "marriage" is an additional reason for it.

It's not about 'gay marriage', Mr. Tribune, it is about Same-sex marriage. It is also about a political party achieving unity, thereby assuring their supremacy. Same-sex marriage is not required by many 'homosexuals' in this country. They do not need public approval of their type of friendship. Same-sex marriage is also not required by relatives of the same sex who wish to have hospital rights or other privileges like inheritance rights. You will find absolutely NO instance of a legislature entertaining notions of a 'gay marriage' bill. It is always about same-sex marriage, which translates into effectively banning civil marriage on the basis of sex (for consensual adults). Therefore, for so-called 'gays' or 'lesbians' to live as if married, bills have to be passed to take out the notion of gender out of the condition for civil marriage. But, inadvertently, once opposite sex is taken out of civil marriage, the government will be regulating marriages it need not regulate, because no children can possibly be engendered by same-sex couples (without a third party). This means government's funds will be diluted, and less will be available for those couples who categorically might be enticed to form a family (engender children, not adopt). But people keep talking about 'gay marriage' as if it was the subject matter. it isn't.

That's because the homosexual lobby is wealthy and influential enough to push their wants and desires into the law. It's been that way for millennia. The wealthy and influential elite always get their way.

Sorry to say that they want the violence. That gives them the excuse they need to restrict our rights even more in exchange for their false sense of security.

They want to destroy marriage and the family. That means they can become our mommy and daddy.

That's what Osama meant by fundamentally changing America. The sheeple are too blind to recognize what's happening.

if it's called the 'marriage fairness act', then I hope it has provisions in it for polygamy, or else they are just pushing the boundary a little farther down the road until the next 'powerless' group comes along.

"... they are just pushing the boundary a little farther down the road until the next 'powerless' group comes along."

    Not exactly.

The current push to legalize so-called same-sex marriage is part of broader (and much more sinister) goal: the eventual elimination of all restraints on sexual behavior. This WAS the goal most recently in the West during the Russian Revolution and, before that, in the French Revolution. It is nothing more than the age-old dream of the libertine; it is most decidedly not freedom, equality, or progress.
