LSN: 200,000-500,000 Rally Against Gay Marriage in France

LifeSiteNews reports on a second, and far larger rally for marriage in France!

Hundreds of thousands of traditional marriage supporters demonstrated against same-sex “marriage” in France over the weekend.

On Saturday, a nationwide rally drew an estimated 200,000 protesters in Paris according to organizers, with tens of thousands more attending rallies throughout the country.

Almost 30,000 traditional marriage supporters demonstrated in the city of Lyon, according to a Reuters report. Police there reported that 40 counter-protesters were arrested after they attempted to disrupt the rally.

Police in Toulouse reported that tear gas was used to break up a group of homosexual activists who tried to interfere with the gathering of five thousand traditional marriage supporters.

Le Parisien reports that between 6,000 and 8,000 people demonstrated in Marseille, proving that, as one blogger quipped, “there are more than just drug dealers in the beleaguered city.”

Marseille police said they used tear gas against counter-demonstrators who unfurled a banner that read, “Your model of society is dead, welcome to Sodom and Gomorrha,” and hurled insults at the traditional marriage demonstrators.

Saturday’s demonstrations were endorsed by leaders of the of the Catholic, Muslim, Protestant and Jewish communities, who demanded the government of President François Hollande reconsider the impact of changing “a foundation of society.”

You can view a live blog by Nouvelles de France here which includes more photos and video of the rallies. Here are a few photos:

I think what is actually occurring here (globally, perhaps long overdue) is that there is an outcry against the Boomer generation's liberal ethic of individual freedom and expression - and above all, "RIGHTS" and an urgent plea for a return to duty and responsibility.

We need that kind of outcry in this country. But, lets face it, we allowed the gaystapos a foothold on a possible victory because we are acting like sheeps, when we should roar like lions.

Well done good citizens of France!!

"Marriage corruption supporters have declared war on all beliefs - religions - that disagrees with theirs." Precisely. And our response must be to declare war in turn...

    Sweet people around here.

So the Roman Catholic church is organizing itself against civil rights polluting civil discourse again. As a Roman Catholic organization itself how much money does NOM get from the church? Is the church one of NOM's two big donors? Is NOM going to try to insert itself in french politics now?

Yes, which is why Protestants, Catholics, Jews, Sihks and Muslims worldwide need to unite against this evil!

New Zealand, Scotland, Finland and South Australia; these are their next targets globally!

Maybe we should consider a UN based ban on gay "marriage" globally? Do you think its possible? Could we override even Spain, Holland and Denmark? Maybe do away with "civil unions" too?

    @Stephen -

What makes you believe that there is such thing as a civil right for a couple?

All individuals have the same rights in this country, including the right to get married. And we all are subject to the same limitations as to whom we are allowed to marry: no marriage to bro, sis, mom, dad, etc...,or to someone of the same sex....

I wanted to be the next women's gymnastics Olympic champion, but I didn't meet the anatomy requirement. Civil rights violation? LOL

Homosexuals really need to figure out that the fact that men and women have different reproductive systems is important.

I find it rather depressing that the French.....THE FRENCH appear to have a higher sense of moral courage than the United States.

Let us not forget the twenty million plus that showed up for Chick-fil-A day here in the U.S.

Tyrants are never distracted by the numbers.

Wow , if we had this type of support and outpouring in this country we might have won the 4 states with marriage on the ballot ! We have much work to do!
