I'm glad Saland lost. I will always support NOM, no matter what the "winners" who spend their time coming on here to childishly gloat over their first-time victories, say or do. This defeat only strengthens my resolve, and that of those who seek the right path.

Rick, I see it differently but I think understand your view. F this is how we keep count, by adopting the statist assumption that Government is the solution to just about everything, then, the Government has been moved, increasingly, into direct opposition to civil society on the most bedrock of issues -- the right to life and the special reason for the special status of marriage.

What they wanted more is more Government and less room for civil society. That means a near abandonment of the consent of the governed. Previous generations sacrificed so much to defend what the culture has increasingly sacrificed on the alter of statism.

The bottom line is the cost to societ and that is a very hard and ruthless way to keep score. That is why the SSMers will do all they can to deny the costs and to cheer their sacrifice of what others have long sacrificed to sustain. There is a high degree of coognitive dissonance built into the pro-SSM and the pro-abortion movements. They want it more, yes, but don't care about the costs in future much less the costs paid in the past.

In light of hat, I say there is very good reason to want and to hope for and, yes, to expect more of civil society. This is far from over. Very far. Keep up the good fight.

The forces of permissivism and "anything goes," even though they are nothing more than throwbacks to the Sixties, won a series of victories. They have not won (and never will) the war. The task for us conservatives is obvious: to ensure these cultural deteriorators (which is all they are at base) never win another victory.

Also, the Iowa senate may soon at least be tied;possibly allowign a vote on a marriage amendment. Though how such an amendment would fair at the ballot box is not promising after last night.

Actually, one whole post did disappear... or it was combined with the post about the vandalism? I cannot tell but there was definitely a whole other post that was up and had 50+ comments on it that is now nowhere to be found. I am not sure why it disappeared. The comments were enthusiastic about the results of last night but that does not warrant the disappearance of the post. If some posts were distasteful, well, that's why there is a moderator. Hmmm...
