High School Students Told to Write Gay Marriage Essays to See Prop 8 Mock Play

The Los Angeles Times:

"The price of admission to last weekend's play at El Camino Real Charter High School was anything but typical. Then again, neither was the play.Students had to submit essays describing their views on gay marriage. The play, "8," dramatizes the 2010 trial that overturned California's ban on gay marriage. El Camino's production was probably the first time it has been performed by a high school cast, a main reason why author Dustin Lance Black attended and participated in a discussion afterward.

About 250 students turned in essays.

... The entire evening Friday was weighted strongly in favor of gay marriage. The audience cheered an actor who acknowledged during the panel that he is gay. No panelist represented a view against gay marriage.

I graduated from that high school....I never thought they'd stoop so low.

Then again they did make a play mocking Christ. And I've always thought the people at that school were a little too "touchy feely" for my taste. I never fit in and couldn't relate to those kids. It was a rich kids hippie school filled with a bunch of children ignorant to the struggles of life.

The people who were for traditional marriage were probably weeded out in the selection process for the panel. Of course, the people who believe this way probably didn't bother to show up in the first place.

But remember there is "no Gay agenda". This is what we were told in CA during the Prop 8 campaign. In fact, the State Superintendent of CA schools was in a commercial lying to us and saying nothing will happen in the schools to promote same sex marriage. Even though Prop 8 was passed, many voted for it thinking it would not affect the way their children would be taught. The Gay agenda is the reality wherever same sex marriage is passed or being pushed. Your children will be taught that they are bigots if they believe in the true definition of marriage. What a sad state of affairs. :(
