Erick Erickson: Human Rights Campaign Maintains Family Research Council is a “Hate Group”

Erick Erickson of Red State (and a contributor to CNN politics):

I got this email from Fred Sainz, the Vice President for Communications and Marketing at the Human Rights Company:

I have a great deal of admiration for you and like watching you on CNN. These Tweets are beneath you.

It’s really unseemly to insinuate — in any way — that HRC had anything to do with the violence that occurred today at FRC.

FRC IS a hate group. It’s not HRC that calls them that; it’s the Southern Poverty Law Center that has classified them as such – years ago. Have you seen the things that FRC says about gay people? I think if you did you wouldn’t be so quick to associate yourself with them

...I’m more than happy to have a dialogue with you on the issue but would ask that you not make irresponsible connections that are completely illogical.

He is referencing several tweets I made noting that just yesterday the Human Rights Campaign called Family Research Council a “hate group.” (See here and here)

I noted that if a gunman had entered the Human Rights Campaign’s offices a day after being labeled a “hate group” by a conservative organization, the media would be denouncing the conservative group as inciting the shooting and spend a week on homophobia, etc.

"They might as well label mainstream (not mainline) Christianity a hate group as Family Research Council does nothing more than reflect the orthodox tenets of Christian faith."

HRC may be anti-Christian and consider orthodox Christianity "hate" but what about the SPLC? If they do not, then calling FRC a "hate group" is providing cover for HRC.

And it is maintained that LGBT and their supporters spells H.A.T.E.

Well we've sure come a long way in 24 hours toward improving the discussion.
(Its good for media sales. And the LGBT have no intention of 'negotiation' anything anyway, they're quite happy with things continuing just as they are.)

How about you on the fence people actually go to the FRC website and really learn about them instead of going on a political site.

    One tiny quibble there, Zack.

    HRC *is* a political site.

And every one of its arguments has been heard and repeated ad nauseam for years and years and years.

It comes down to two fundamentally irreconcilable differences concerning what marriage *is*.

    Time to settle this politically.

    It's getting out of hand.

The FRC absolutely is a hate group. If someone shot a Grand Wizard of the KKK, it would be an indefensible crime. But it wouldn't mean the KKZk was no longer a hate group. One has nothing to do with the other.

Why would the distinction change? The shooting doesn't change the FRC's past actions. If a thief is attacked, that doesn't make him less of a thief.

The actions of FRC are not obsolved due to the senseless act of violence. One can put together the argument that NOM is being reviewed for similar treatment. I feel bad for good folk that believe in 1m1w marriage that are getting a bad rap for the actions of FRC and NOM.

And of course lost in all this absurdity is the simple fact that FRC never so inflamed its supporters, that they showed up with a gun to mass murder the HRC.

Spin, spin, spin as you will, friends, the mask has dropped, the face of anti-Chriostian hatred is clearly visible, and your side is going to have to do something about it.

Oh, given the alternative, Denbver (that their children will be forcibly indoctrinated in the absurdity that fathers are not male, that mothers are not female, that there are six genders of which all pupils must play fantasy games, etc etc etc).......

The good folk that believe in marriage will take the "bad rap".

See Chik Fil A Appreciation Day for details.

    And numbers.

Face it, Denver, the old intimidation scam just went the way of all flesh, and you guys apparently don;t have anything else.
