We're hearing reports of packed Chick-fil-A's across the country today. NOM's Thomas Peters visited the DC Chick-fil-A foodtruck and reported packed lines the whole lunch hour:
A DC supporter who arrived later said the truck sold out of sandwiches! (She opted for chicken nuggets instead.)
A NOM supporter from Alabama sent this photo in along with this description: "I tried to eat at Chick-Fil-A today, but the Homewood, AL location was too crowded! What the photo doesn't show is the back-up behind the camera and the packed shopping center parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. Jam packed."
Meanwhile a NOM supporter from St. Louis wrote us: "I’ve never seen a fast food restaurant as busy as the Chick-Fil-A here in St. Louis today."
Let us know in the comments what it was like when you visited Chick-fil-A today! And make your plans to visit Chick-fil-A next Wendesday (August 1st) as well!

Now that is what I like to see. As my daddy once told me:
"If you want to prove to them that it can be done show them; don't tell them."
Maybe in these tough economic times, other resturaunts should try the same thing Chick-fil-a has done - endorse natural marriage. That alone generates tons of free adveritising and publicity.
"Buy"-cotts engage people in a positive way.
I will certainly support Chick-fil-A with my dollars as a thank you to the Cathy family and all they represent.
They make the best chicken sandwiches, too.
Anticipating a crowd, I arrived around 11 with my family. It was already getting crowded. By 11:30 the place was packed, the line at the drive-through wound around the building. Didn't think to take a pic.
Told the manager we appreciate their support of natural marriage. We'll return next Wed, Aug. 1.
August 1st is my day. Most of the Chick-Fil-A's in my area are a bit of a commute away. But next Wednesday I'll be able to go. I'm happy because a restaurant is opening closer by.
I love the sandwiches, but I'm going to try the nuggets on Wednesday. I hear they are the BOMB.
Hopefully voters remember this when Rahm tries to run for President down the road. He has named himself as un-Democratic and un-Constitutional.
Ate at Chick-Fil-A today. Every parking space filled, drive-thru line trailing out of the parking lot onto nearby streets. Big crowd, happy faces. Go, Chick-Fil-A!
My gf works.at chik filet..alot of supporters that is for sure!
If testimonials are to be believed, this "buycott" (which is honestly a neat term, I must admit) was a success for you.
Nevertheless, this is not likely to be a story you'll tell your great grandchildren. According to Fox News (of all sources):
"Looking ahead 20 years down the road, nearly two-thirds of voters think same-sex couples will be able to marry in most states, including 26 percent who think it will be allowed in every state."
Twenty years from now, my progeny will be proud of the stance I took. You're the only ones in charge of whether that will be true for you as well.
In 20 years, will your progeny know who you are? If they do, it will only because you've taught them that fathers are important and need to be there for their kids. Children growing up with only a mom (or 2 "moms" or more) won't be getting that message. SSM promotes child abandonment--not natural biological family ties. Only marriage between a man and a woman can legally tie children to both sides of their family trees. In order to track paternal genealogy, you have to know who the fathers are. Just a thought.
"Looking ahead 20 years down the road, nearly two-thirds of voters think same-sex couples will be able to marry in most states, including 26 percent who think it will be allowed in every state."
And since when was public speculation about the future the equivalent of psychic predictions, Andy? Years ago, most people believed that abortion would be a non issue by now and that Communism would have taken over most of the world. Most also believed that the 2nd amendment would have been abolished by now. That seemed to the the way things were headed once upon a time.
"Twenty years from now, my progeny will be proud of the stance I took. You're the only ones in charge of whether that will be true for you as well."
The only thing such a belief confirms is that the main stream media is able to give the false impression that SS"M" is far more popular than it actually is.
Another example of the misconceptions produced by media misinformation is the fact that most Americans think that over 25% of the pouplation is gay, according to a recent Gallup poll. But such a belief doesn't make it true. More realistic estimates peg the gay population at 2% of the population at most.
What an odd choice of terms (proginy) to identify those who would approve of the concept of sterile "parenthood".
Where do gay couples' proginy come from? Oh, that's right....other people.
Anne, if I may, "gay couples'" progeny come from a man and a woman (perhaps even a man and woman who both claim to be "gay"). Those children have a right to be raised by their married mother and father. SSM certainly doesn't facilitate genealogical knowledge. It promotes 3rd party procreation/parenting, wherein many children will know their father only as "donor," or their mother as "surrogate."
*progeny" - (oops)
Yes DOE. The concepts of progeny/lineagae/ancestry are powerful ideals throughout human history. The immeasurable irony of someone who would invoke the concept amidst their own endeavor to destroy it is more than a little mind boggling.
Anne, I just don't think many folks have thought this through. They're caught up in the desire to have their sexuality validated, entirely forgetting that progeny won't care, in future generations, about sexuality--what they'll care about is that their progenitors, both male and female, cared enough about them to both be present, and to be connected through the generations, the common sense method, of course, being married. Grandmothers married to grandfathers, mothers to fathers. If Andy's desire for SSM is granted, his own progeny, just a few generations down the line, might not even know of his existence. All they'll know is that there's a gap in their family tree. Whereas children of married progenitors will be able to track their ancestry for hundreds of years, and dozens of generations. That's the beauty of marriage--it connects individuals to both sides of their family tree.
I agree DOE. Much of the postion which "ssm" proponents argue includes the presumption (and insistence) that children don't/won't care about their biological lineage and attachments. History and sociology tell us that that simply isn't true. Even adoptees raised in the most loving and materially beneficial environments often long for their biological roots. Ancestry.com is just one current example of people's natural inclination to know where and who they come from. It is an innate human desire and one which we are not entitled to deny our children of.
CFLA is anti gay because they don't believe in EQUAL RIGHTS for everyone...Just because they will serve a gay person doesn't mean anything...and NOM your organization is ver LIBERAL and don't believe in FREE SPEECH except for people that speak the same as you....you NEVER post an oppossing view...you are LIBERALS afraid of free speech just like HITLER
mdecker, your post contradicts you.
NOM = Hate Group
i luv me some Chick-fil-A
im going tonite for some!!!
and i think i will buy a few gift cards for charity's
Andy King, your speculations on the future are self-referential, of course, but your remarks do raise the question of being held morally accountable.
Here, today, on what basis would you be willing to be held morally accountable for your pro-SSM view and position?
Instead of kicking that down the road, let's deal with the content of your view and position. For example, do you hold yourself to the rule of non-contradiction?
Richard B Cortijo,
SSM = Specious Substitution of Marriage
Richard @ 20, define HATE GROUP, please do tell?
LGBT= Gender Hate Group
Can you just imagine the impact this fascist insanity is having on folks all over the country, who are finally beginning to see the true face of the gay fascism movement in action?
Man, it's going to be a great November for marriage.....
My local Chick-Fil-A was packed, both last Friday adn today, but everyone seemed happy and patient. The lines moved quickly and efficiently; I had to park across the 5-lane and jaywalk to get there, but it was more than worth it, both as a positive form of protest, as well as getting good food in a clean place, from happy and efficient workers. Lysol has met it's match in our local McD's and BKsm, they are so nasty and staffed with thugs and teens who are surly and don't care. I'm never going back. Go C-F-A!
I'm glad that people are supporting Chick-fil-a and the presidents comments. He is standing up for what he believes in.
Aug 1 - Southlake, Texas Chick-fil-a packed - entire building filled with people during the entire lunchtime from outside the door all the way to the counter, cars around the building, down the street, and all the next door parking lots filled with cars - watching as the people park and see them walk to the Chick-fil-a, not the other fast food joints! Wow!! A security or police guy thye must have had to hire to help traffic was directing the drive-through line and other traffic!
Reading the comments, I see references to fascism, which is EXACTLY what is going on in our beloved country- who would have thought we would have such things in the US, and misinformed people accepting it.
Fascism is a governmental system forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc.
Fascsim is a system in which the government abuses its power to exercise control, by means of regulatory legislation (in this case zoning rules) over private businesses, and individuals. In the US, govt is supposed to stay out of the way as much as possible and let freedom ring.
Boston and Chicago are talking about trying to use governmnet zoning rules to keep out and try to financially hurt a legitimate legal business just because those few in charge don't agree with the business leaders' positions. How dare they. Fascism is evil and leads to dictatorship. If they get away with it, they could try to suppress anybody registered as a republican or independent, i.e. not a democrat. Mussolini and his followerer Hitler are the two who come to mind first when speaking of fascism.
Wake up people!! Go C-F-A!!!
I was so pleased to see the hundreds of people and long lines today. The drive thru line must have been 1/4 mile long. I waited happily. I did not see any haters there. On the contrary, I constantly hear about the left spewing out hate and intolerance of the traditional beliefs held for many generations. Just because Mr Cathey does not agree with sodomy based marraige, he is being lambasted by the left. Heaven help us!
To Bob, comment #30
You are taking serious liberties with your slippery slope argument.
Because 2 mayors said they didn't agree with CFA doesn't mean they will "forcibly suppress or regulate their existence" Can't and won't happen.
In fact the only movement from a legislative side regarding SSM is from Conservatives!! Tell me, do you think that it is fascist for Conservative leaders to support laws that limit the freedoms of Homosexuals? Using your argument, if today it can target homosexuals, why can't tomorrow's target be Christians? Or Jews??
Try thinking outside the box for a minute.
