The 64 member board vote wasn't even remotely close. It was like 57 for. This is a waste of time.

    Man! Black men. Beautiful.
Keep it together and strong black men and women of America. You're christian community can encourage the rest of the country on this issue.

Of course you are not the community that the medical, legal and pharmaceutical world are looking to make money from by selling babies to. Which accounts for why you're position will probably be given little serious attention. But the fact that you are united in speaking up, and in being strong in character, dignity and morals, gives us all (the average Joe in America) a light of stability to be strengthened by. (And it gives the average “carefree and happy thief of the word marriage” something to think about).

Why does the NAACP care about so-called SS"M"? Is it because homosexuals have infiltrated the leadership? Is it because of gay money? Or is it to show solidarity with Obama and offset the damage to his campaign as a result of coming out in support of so-called SS"M"?

I suspect the reason is a combination of all three. As Black Americans have full equality, there is nothing left for the NAACP to fight for, so they have to come up with other causes to become relevant again. It is thus just another leftist political organization that claims to represent Black people but does not such thing.

In case you did not know, there are people who are both black and gay. Also, while blacks may have "full equality" in legal theory, they still face many disadvantages that white Americans do not. I point you to Tim Wise's book, "White Like Me".

Maybe it's none of the three; just because you disagree with their position doesn't mean that their reasoning must align with your cynicism.

Perhaps, as a leading civil rights organization, they recognize a civil rights issue when they see one.

P.S. - It is rather telling that you believe "Black Americans have full equality, there is nothing left for the NAACP to fight for".

While I agree with OvercameSSA that the NAACP's decision to support marriage redefinition was politically motivated, I would argue that the NAACP still has plenty of issues to address that are within the purview of their stated mission.

Family fragmentation, poverty, out-of-wedlock births, jobs, youth crime, etc.

Maybe those issues are just too difficult for the NAACP to address, while the emotionally charged issue of marriage redefinition is easy money and easy publicity.

One of the top issues NAACP must fight and is fighting, is Republican party's effort to suppress the right to vote, most of which is disproportionately directed at people of color.

    Let the people vote.

Interesting article on the NAACP's mission creep by Michael Meyers, a Black liberal and ssm supporter.

The cronies at the NAACP don't like it or admit it, but much of the black community who are Christians oppose homosexual marriage. If they remain true to their faith and they are not intimidated by leftist bullies and bigots, they will continue to oppose counterfeit marriage. Romney shares that value and the cronies at NAACP board won't change that!

    Spot on here:

"If they remain true to their faith and they are not intimidated by leftist bullies and bigots, they will continue to oppose counterfeit marriage."

I can tell you from Prop 8, and guarantee it: they will.

@8 Scott - That is a complete lie based on liberal propaganda. It is the democrat party & Acorn that are always being indicted for voter fraud. They keep getting caught registering dead people and in some areas finding vote totals greater than 100% of the registered voters!
