New York State Senator Ruben Diaz writes about the political repercussions of supporting SSM:
"...Recent polls indicate that the African-American community in the nation is divided in respect to same-sex marriage. A Pew Center Poll recently found that 63% of African-Americans reject gay marriage and only 37% are in favor.
This is not the first time that Rev. Williams Owens and the Coalition of African-American pastors have criticized President Barack Obama in response to same-sex marriage. In May, Rev. Owens issued a statement condemning the President for comparing the gay rights movement to the African-American civil rights movement.
In his statement, at that time, Rev. Owens said: “The hijacking of the civil rights movement by homosexuals, bisexuals and gender confused people is unacceptable. There is no legitimate comparison between skin color and sexual behavior.”
I believe that many elected officials will lose constituents and some will lose their seats because of their position in favor of same-sex marriage and the Democratic Party is in danger of losing the majority in the United States Senate and even the President’s re-election could be problematic and all of this because of same-sex marriage."

You should be happy that Obama's reelection will.be more dificult. Proves Obama is about all Americans, not just his voting block.
Would Romney have such scruples? I sincerely doubt it.
Rover.
@ Rover- How is Obama about Americans? He did this for money. money from rich gays who will stop at nothing to push their radical agenda.
@ Rover:
Same-gender marriage is also about "all Americans," not just the 1.4% with same-sex attraction. It will increase lawsuits against people who support pro-gender marriage and teaches children that gender-segregation is good for marriages.
By supporting same-sex marriage, President Obama advocates an anti-gender policy.
As the homosexual radicals forced the APA to remove homosexuality from its list of disorders through homosexual infiltration of its leadership, so has Obama been forced -and we will soon see the Democrat party platform go along - to adopt a pro-ssm position.
Homosexuals, generally lacking children to raise, have nothing better to do than to use their free time and money to ram their radical agenda down the throats of normal Americans.
For those who are unfamiliar with the story, here's a great article on how the homosexualists conspired to remove homosexuality from the APA's list of mental disorders:

However, it's still a mental disorder here:

actually, I typed that knowing it wouldn't be accepted since I've been banned here for a year. I was not expecting anyone to see it. Glad NOM now will allow my posts and I'll be more specific in the future.
Cheers.
I am wondering who Sen. Ruben Diaz is supporting in the presidential race. He is the only Democrat I know of whose views on social issues such as abortion and gay marriage are as staunchly conservative as Rick Santorum, and yet remains generally quite liberal with respect to fiscal issues, taxation, government regulation of business, etc.
He has stated explicitly that it is forbidden to support any candidate, Democrat or Republican, who is pro-abortion, and he has said pretty much the same about gay marriage. But does he trust Mitt Romney to manage the economy to serve the interests of low-income and disadvantaged people?
This is the question which I (who largely share Diaz's views) am desperately seeking an answer to.
