Romney Leads Obama Among Married Voters 51%-38%

FoxNews:

All the single ladies ... seem to really like President Obama.

A new Quinnipiac University poll shows Obama has a 2-to-1 advantage over Mitt Romney among single women in the 2012 presidential race. In fact, the survey underscores the so-called "marriage gap" between the two opponents -- in general, single voters favor Obama while married voters favor the Republican candidate.

According to the poll, married voters back Romney 51-38 percent. Single voters, though, back Obama 54-34 percent. The gap is much wider among single women -- 60 percent for Obama, 31 percent for Romney

I'm single but my parents are quite conservative so their values have had an obvious impact on my own values and beliefs.

I just want to say that single voters are generally childless and don't have to worry about making rent, or budgeting their paycheck to feed anyone other than themselves, so they might see the economy in a different light than the family of four who's trying to put food on the table.

Married couples are more conservative, fiscally they have to balance a check book to make ends meet, they have go easy on the spending because depending on how many people are working, the check needs to keep them afloat for a while.

Many single women are single moms relying on the government to serve as their husbands, providing financial support. As long as the government keeps giving checks, and thereby encourages out-of-wedlock births and illegitimate children, this pattern is not likely to end. And the children of these women are likely to become dependent on government handouts themselves, thereby increasing the number of voters (fortunately, these people are not likely voters) who will vote for a government check.

Government needs to encourage marriage, not encourage single motherhood.

@OvercameSSA, how many poor single mothers have you personally met and interacted with? On what basis are you saying that they are reliant on government, or have a financial incentive to have out-of-wedlock births? How do you know whether or not they will vote, or how they will raise their children?

The government already does encourage marriage.

Especially the ones on welfare and who have sex with whoever they please. Obama supports welfare, "FREE" birth control( paid for by us), and abortion provided by the government.

That was the promise of welfare reform -- that reducing the financial "incentives" to have children outside of marriage would encourage the poor to marry.

It didn't work. Marriage has collapsed all the faster in the years since the welfare rolls were slashed.

"On what basis are you saying that they are reliant on government, or have a financial incentive to have out-of-wedlock births?"

Look at the black family where the majority grow up fatherless. Please you can't be so dense as to not see the destruction the welfare state has wrought on the families.

And no, programs like these do no encourage people to get married.

"How do you know whether or not they will vote, or how they will raise their children?"

Because if you want to keep recieving federal goodies, you keep voting for the people that are willing to give them out. Why do you think California has 1/3rd of the nations welfare cases? Because the Democrats keep promising a free ride in exchange for votes. It's slavery to the nth degree.
