Dump General Mills Makes the Drudge Report!

The Drudge Report linked to this Washington Examiner article reporting on our DumpGeneralMills.com campaign (which is now over 13,000 signers!):

The Washington-based National Organization for Marriage, created to fight gay marriage proposals, is betting that Betty Crocker would be on their side. Because on Tuesday, the activist group announced a boycott of General Mills, owners of the Betty Crocker brand, which this month announced its opposition to a ban on same-sex marriage in Minnesota, their headquarters.

"We value diversity. We value inclusion," the food producer said in a letter, making it one of the biggest corporate voices for same-sex marriage.

"In declaring a war on marriage, General Mills is declaring war on their own customers. Now, rather than seeing the flowing 'G' trademark as a symbol of General Mills, consumers across the world will equate that symbol with gay marriage," said Brian Brown, NOM's president.

The group set up a website, www.DumpGeneralMills.com, for supporters who want to know which products to protest.

Can you give it a rest already with the declaring war on marriage bs?They're showing their opposition to an ugly bill that they feel is bad for the state.

Well atleast the CEO of General Mills has been civil. Can't say the same about the social left, they bare their fangs whenever a dissenter speaks their mind.

'the social left'? Nothing like making big sweeping gernalisations about a large group of people.

I believe, like with most segments of society , those with left wing beliefs do not all have vertain personality traits, i.e. uncivil, They are a group of people who will have good, bad and everthing in between.

Also, I dont think General MIlls are going to be the first or the last company to support SSM. The funny ting is, NOM seems to pick and choose which companies to boycott.

Below is a list of companies who supported gay marriage to varying degrees- where are all these boycotts NOM??

That is why it is so important to elect Mitt Romney and a GOP that will pass laws that investigate and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law, religious liberty violations. This assumes of course, we can keep the pressure on Mitt and hold him to his word, insuring he does not pull another one of his infamous flip flops.

Moderator, the poser calling herself "Ash" needs to find another name rather than impersonate the real Ash who actually contributes thoughtful comments to this blog.

Moderator, the poser calling herself "Ash" needs to find another name rather than impersonate the real Ash who actually contributes thoughtful comments to this blog.

This also has become another hatefull tactic of the left and the sodomite supporters. Whenever someone like Ash brings brillant posts and comments to this blog that cannot be refuted the tactic is attack the messenger. One very dishonest way to attack is to steal the name of the poster and post comments that are not from the real person. This is perejury, lying, deceitfull, and slanderous to the real person. But what we all expect from such an immoral corrupt crowd.

Thanks, John. I do see it as an attempt to disrupt the conversation, confuse people, and it is a form of deceitfulness and slander. I would condemn the practice if someone from our side did it to an ssm supporter.

If a person wants to comment on the blog, fine! When they realize that they share the name of another commenter, they should add something to their name that would distinguish themselves from the other person.

I know that's a "duh" moment, but unfortunately, many SSMers need elementary lessons in propriety. After all, one SSMer called me a "narcissist" a few months ago when I called out Pseudo Ash, saying that there can be more than one person in the world named Ash.

I'm still being rather generous. I do not believe Pseudo Ash is really named "Ash." After all, what person named "Stefan" would go on a page and continue posting under that name, knowing that there is another person who regularly comments by that name? No reasonable person would do that. Only a troll interested in causing trouble.

Thanks to you and Barb for speaking out. Perhaps the moderator will take note. ;)

Thank you for upholding morality & what is RIGHT.

Sodomy is deviant & anything that disgusting to mankind should be STOPPED. The next thing they'll try is to make beastiality acceptable! God destroyed 2 cities, Sodom & Gomorrah, because of their unthinkable acts & rampant sin. He did it once & believe me He will do it again!

I don't think homosexuality will ever fully win, thank God, because most of humanity is STRAIGHT & won't stand for it!

I am with John Noe on the above comment and also notice the slander against Ash. Just goes to show his comments are great and that is why they go after him. This is not done to me because my posts are nowhere near as good as Ash's.

My suggestion is for the moderator to check on the emails to see if they match. The person who is using the fraudulent name of Ash does not have the same email. I also think the slanderer should have his/her posts removed.

I'm not impersonating any1- my name is Ash! Thats the name i was born with- sorry if its offensive. There seems to be a ridiculous paranoia on this site, that i somehow created a name in order to pretend to be someone else. Im sure the other poster named Ash is not as famous as she thinks she is.

Also, on a side note, im a guy.

    Thanks, John N.

The email verification is a good idea. Actually, the moderator once cross-checked my email address with Pseudo Ash's and deleted the fake's comments. The moderator also reported that this troll (or group of them) sent a barrage of over 100 comments in the span of two days pretending to be me.

I'm flattered, of course, but it seems as if moderation in this area has laxed. I understand that this particular impostor is relentless, but I would hope the moderator keeps it a bay for a while.

Thanks again to you, and other marriage supporters, for getting the moderator's attention. :)

I believe marriage to be a sacred union ordained by god when he declared it as a union between a man and a woman. This is not stated as a union between 2 individuals of the same sex.

I will forever believe in God's law regarding marriage. I support to protecting Mariage as the Union between a man and a woman. This is the way God had made it in the beginning.

It seems very typical of opponents of SSM to focus on pedantic issues such as what I am posting under, rather than what I actually said.

In 18 comments, not once has anyone addressed my comments or questions- which is that there are many many companies that have endorsed Marriage equality. Why has NOM and its supprters not created boycotts against all of them?

Also they plead that corporate america stays neutral, but would they be saying this same thing if a company came out to support NOM? I seriously doubt it (although I have to say, i am finding it hard tofind an exampled of ANY major company specifically endorsing anti-gay marriage measures- if any NOM supporters or opponents could help me out, that would be greatly appreiated).

Anyway, for what its worth, i support the right of people to boycott if they feel a brand doesnt match their values- thats the beauty of the free market- we have choices. I just think its silly to pick and choose a couple of companies, when it seems to be very widespread across "Corporate America"!

OH, and just to prove to people that I really am Ash, theres my facebook http://www.facebook.com/ashs89

There is some serious paranoia on this blog- it never seems to be as simple as debating the merits of same sex marriage

Even if your name is Ash (which I doubt, because Barb and other marriage supporters have had impersonators on this blog before), wouldn't it make sense to add something to your name to distinguish yourself? Since I've been commenting for a longer period and regularly, shouldn't you, as a sensible person, say "I'll try to distinguish my name from the other commenter"?

If you really were interested in debating issues on the merits, you wouldn't play silly games and post comments under someone else's screen-name.

And if you are not willing to make such a simple concession as to distinguish your screen-name from mine, then the moderator would have to conclude that your are attempting to disrupt the blog (as have others who played similar games in the past).

If it weren't that big of a deal who comments under certain name, there would be no spot on the comment box to note our names. If it's not that big of a deal to you, then you should change your screen-name.

I apologize to everyone else for explaining such basic ideas of decency. Pseudo-Ash knows these truths, but wants to disrupt the blog. I'm really curious about why the moderator is allowing it to continue.

General Mills can go to H fs far as this mother of 4 is concerned. How dare they insert themselves into such a divisive issue! (As a shareholder I would be beside myself with anger!) I have printed out all products produced under the General Mills brand and it is on the fridge front and center. Not one dime from my family will ever go to General Mills again when I shop. This consumer will show her disgust through her pocketbook!
