FRC: JCPenney Admits Sales Falling, Pro-Gay Sales Strategy Failing

Via FRC's Washington Update:

"...J.C. Penney has lost its way--and in the process, its profits! "Is J.C. Penney trying to become GayC Penney?" ABC Newsis asking--and so are customers. In the last several months, the company once known for its Christian roots has undergone a radical transformation. It started last year, when J.C. Penney hired Ellen DeGeneres, a vocal proponent of same-sex "marriage," as its spokesperson.

... As Ford Motors will tell you, siding with radical homosexuals has its price. And in J.C. Penney's case, the cost is about $163 million. According to the Wall Street Journal, J.C. Penney's stock "has lost more than a third of its value since a disastrous earnings report in mid-May, when Penney's posted a $163 million loss and said sales fell 20% in the first three months of its fiscal year." CEO Ron Johnson also admitted that Father's Day sales were a bust. "Penney's shares fell 8.8% Tuesday to their lowest level in a year, [and] store traffic was down 10%."

The radical gay agenda is a loser. General Mills and Starbucks will soon learn. The generic brand Cheerios taste the same are half the price.

Maybe it wasn't a business decision; maybe it was a moral one.

GayC Penney attributes their floundering sales to their new pricing strategy and refuse to even mention, let alone acknowledge, that it had anything to do with their radical social agenda.

    More like an immoral one.

    Jim:

Suicide is never a moral solution, and JC Penney's just committed suicide.

Let other American corporations take note, and beware.

We are getting very sick of having our values attacked by corporations, and we will not patronize those that do.

Got the message yet, JC Penney?

This is where the message of the Bible reasonates so clearly. Jesus said you reap what you sow, and JC Penny is now reaping this harvest.

Now Target is looking to lose sales too. So be it.! They all need to stay out of the cultural hot button issues and do what the do best,...sell merchandise. Let them learn the hard way. They won't be getting my business either. Neutrality is the best road for Corporations.

Actually, this is a low point for all retail businesses, this is the slowest time of the year, so it is not a reasonable conclusion that it's because of their stance on same sex marriage.

This is what happens when homosexuals rip a child from the opportunity to have both a mother and father.. Crime really doesn't pay.

I know I, for one, ceased shopping at JCP as soon as I learned of their gay ad campaigns.

I also agree with Tricia regarding neutrality. JCP is selling clothing! Why insert lifestyle messages into the advertisements?! You can show people in an ad without describing their relationship!

i think as othersdo that companies should stay out of this type of discussion...they best realize the group they are catering to is NOT THE majority of the american people. white, hespanic, jewish, african american etc...they had better start thinking. since we americans are limited on our income AND outgo we alone will decide where to spend what money we do have...we do not say this lifestyle is not ones own business but do not try to force me not to believe that one true God and marriage betewen one man and one women is unacceptable..i choose this myself and do not force anyone else so stay out of making this a political, financial, cultural issue and quit advertising and supporting this lifestyle unless you want a sodom and gomorah outcome in our lovely country of America..this lifestyle people do this at their own discretiion but do not continue to force irt upon me and my family and my children..as i have stated before i will not purchase from companies which choose to pick one lifestyle over another and adv erttise to do so (as soon as my account with jcpenney is paid off.im out of there and have been a customer for over 35 years)..Home depot is also losing my card now...i dont even purchase from starbuck..as everyone knows there are a lot of companies now venturing into this practice and i pray that they will suffer as they should for this...It is being discrimatory just as much as they say being a faith based, Bible based marriage. Despite the call today by a MINORITY of Americans that the Bible is wrong..just wait..folks...trust me..you will find out in the end...just trust me...disbelieve all you want, criticize all you want, advertise all you want that is your privilege...but just wait and see......................on a side note i feel their loss in income is directly related to this acton..also general mills has lost my business..off brands as one man said will do just fine.

Nice comments Nina. Have you noticed that as more heteros are "converted "to SSM (which indeed is like saying "NO" to God)), that the silent sheeps/goats revelation promised by Jesus is going on?

Starbucks is hemorrhaging $$$$ and profits. Good Christian families have stopped their normal habit of going to their outlets to pay $5 or $6 for a coffee. Soon they will announce store closings. Keep coming to this NOM site for upcoming announcements. NOM the proof is in the pudding!!

I hope all people of faith will use their power as consumers.
I no longer shop at Home Depot- Starbucks- sent my gift cards and a letter into Target CEO and no longer shop Target- no JC Penny- and dumping my General Mills products! Companies should heed 3M who said- "we stick to business"
    Power to the people. :-)
