So here we go again with an unconstitutional public vote on civil rights. You will always win at the ballot box with your TV commercials basically saying "thou shall not be gay, therefore this isn't a right" All the courts dissagree. The Christian law cannot prevail in this country, as we are free from religious rule, IF we choose. Today, DOMA has, once again been striken from a appeals court.
Folks, it's time to put your anti-gay religious arguments aside, and let culture progress like it always has. Gay marriage is not going to hurt YOU.

You just know there are people watching this and weeping into their lattes over at Obama campaign headquarters.

I don't care what PPP says. He does not have coattails on this issue.

    Davey:

Please understand, that should an activist judiciary attempt to enforce the destruction of marriage on this nation via tyranny, we will simply amend our Constitution and take the institution back.

As more and kore parents become aware of the appalling homosexualist indoctrination programs imposed upon schools wherever the pseudo-marriage agenda has taken hold, it will become more and more clear to you that same sex "marriage" is a bridge too far for the American people.

It is true that Massachusetts' ignoble kangaroo courts have led the assault on marriage; it is also true that they will never prevail.

Since when was a public vote unconstitutional? And since when was SS"M" a civil right? That is just an arbitrary claim. Where in any constitution is marriage even mentioned, let alone gay marriage? The vast majority of courts on this issue have ruled that traditional marriage laws are NOT unconstitutional, it is just that the minority of them that have invented new laws and new rights from the bench get all the press and thus create the illusion that all courts agree with government enforced marriage redefinition. And the US Constitution guarantees freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. And articles displayed on this blog has shown again and again how SS"M" compromises civil and religious liberties.

This latest act of judicial activism will only energize those of us who believe in REAL marriage and elect those who will pass the Federal Marriage Amendment to prevent activist judges from inventing new rights and new laws at the behest of a wealthy and influential special interest group.

    @Davey

Don't courts vote on laws when they are challenged? Doesn't the congress vote on whether to reconginze a civil right? Doesn't the people put those politicians who vote on these issues in office?

Everything is voted on Davey, the left just can't stand it when the people reject your way of thinking.

It's amazing about this whole marriage issue people keep saying it's a civil rights issue. I don't see any people being hanged for the sexuality different bathrooms if you're gay or stop you from getting of good job so civil rights shouldn't even come up. The courts contains the laws but is appointed to man once to die and then the judgment. Yet tricky fine

The issue of 'gay marriage' is not about Christians vs. gays. It's far bigger than that. In fact, most biblical references to homosexuality occur in the Torah (Old Testament), not the New Testament. (Why don't the gays taunt the Jews for their "bigoted" beliefs?) But this conflict goes beyond Judeo-Christian beliefs v. homosexual aspirations. It's about who gets to define cultural norms.

Homosexuality will never be a norm in any human society. Marriage was invented by heterosexuals to commemorate the unique union of man and woman. It has enormous cultural significance as well as religious significance. Also, many people believe homosexuality is biologically abnormal. This belief precedes even the bible. Therefore, the word marriage should retain its present meaning since broadening its meaning would debase it. This is a widely held conviction. Moreover, our natural world is an expression of heterosexuality.

This is not to say there shouldn't be cultural accommodation for gays. But homosexuality is not the same as heterosexuality, and therefore it is not "equal to" heterosexuality.

Society should allow homosexuals to formally establish lasting bonds and to enjoy similar rights and privileges as heterosexuals, but the word marriage must not be altered to elevate the status of gays or to mainstream all the eccentric and sometimes bizarre lifestyles associated with the LGBT movement.

Male/female courtship and union is not the same thing as what happens when two men meet and decide to have anonymous sex in a public bathroom. There are real differences between 'straights' and gays in countess ways. In addition, even 'married' gay men are not usually monogamous. So a lot of 'gay marriage' claims are disingenuous, since their real goals often involve government perks (health care, tax benefits), attaining higher cultural status and gaining unrealized political advantage. So let's be real. There is a cultural war in progress.

For reasons that escape me, the 'gay community' has given us the word 'lesbian', even though there's no comparable word to describe a woman who's heterosexual. The word and its meaning (lesbian) is now being taught in Calif. public schools. How and why did this happen? Words matter. They give meaning and power and identity to groups and individuals. Homosexual women apparently prefer the word 'lesbian' to 'homosexual' or even 'gay women'. It;s empowering for them. Well, we want our words, too. One of these words is 'marriage'. It describes the formal union between man and woman. It's exclusive.

Maybe it's time for homosexuals to come up with a new word to describe their unions. Is this asking too much?

We are dealing with prejudice, and people who won't recognize the opposition to redefining civil marriage also has great political power. This is a passionate issue, and otherwise many would not vote. It goes against biology, plain and simple. They depend on judges not following judicial precedent and a heavily convoluted rationale in heavily Democrat States where they feel safe, but that only serves to awaken more opposition as people see the prejudice.

This reminds me of the Civil Rights Movement - yes, lots of prejudice, people with closed minds trying to just get their own way, and disrespect of the law.

More people will be voting in these upcoming elections. When more people vote, the ratio of conservative/liberal voters increases, putting Democrats on the defensive, and some not voting. It will be a time when Democrat (as opposed to democratic) legislators face their constituents. Judgement day approaches. . .

that is why is it is so important to elect pro-family people to office this fall and ultimately pass a marriage amendment to the U.S. Constitution. such an action would put an end to all the Judaical rulings once and for all. since 30+ states have already enacted such a an amendment to their state constitution it should not be that hard to add a few more to get a 2/3 majority

There are no more or less gay or lesbian people in the world today (as a percentage) than there were thousands of years ago. The orgies of Rome, the public baths, and the Spartan military admonishments to relieve oneself of sexual appetites (in any convenient way) before battles are evidence to that fact. The amazing coincidence of the rise of promiscuity just prior to the end of an age is obvious, and should only be encouraged by those intent upon ending this one.
Personally, I'd like the American Dream to survive, since it has been the best conception of civilization ever devised. Why? . . because our founders studied deeply all those previous models and strived to identify and eliminate their flaws in the design of this one.

Why are the gay community so hateful and destructive when Christians are so civil? Because homosexuals know their condition is not normal and yet they do not have the courage to admit they need help. So the best way to make themselves feel better is to convince themselves and others that they are right!
Such a sad condition! If only they'd acknowledge their problem and seek help and forgiveness!

I have this question in my head that never leaves. Can a Gay man and his Gay partner conceive and carry to term a natural pregnancy? NO. Can a Lesbian couple naturally conceive and carry a pregnancy to term? NO.Therefore; They should not try to carry their relationships to term. NO ON GAY MARRIAGE PERIOD !!

    Davey,

You say that "gay marriage won't hurt you". Sadly you are wrong on two accounts. First children are being harmed by selfish adults purposely choosing to deny them a mother or a father. Secondly, the homosexual act often causes physical harm and a greater chance for certain cancers and Aids. You can never fool with mother nature and expect their to be no consequences.

Doug hit the nail on the head. Every society that has allowed perversion (yes, homosexuality is a perversion) has torn itself apart. This country is headed for a major crisis from which we will not survive if we continue down the road of thumbing our nose at God's laws.

This, IMHO, is not about gay rights. It is about religious freedom - the basis upon which this country was founded.

Freedom to live according to my conscience w/o having to fear being fined, losing my job, or going to jail.

Freedom to refrain from performing a marriage that contradicts writings which I consider to be sacred.

Freedom to speak my opinion in a public forum w/o losing my job.

Freedom to to screen out leaders of my youth organization that live in a relationship which contradicts what I have taught my children.

Freedom to send my children to school with the knowledge that they will not be taught principles contrary to my core beliefs.

Freedom to live according to my conscience as a medical provider w/o losing my license.

Freedom to operate a business in accordance with my religion w/o being fined or picketed.

    I am a Freedom Fighter!

Dear friends across the pond, Britain is under severe attack from the enemies of freedom and truth. Gay marriage is imminently going to be forced through Parliament without any debate, except a bogus consultation process put out by our totally corrupt government .

    I ask you:

    Do you want
marriage to be defined in such a way that bisexuals who, after all are part of the LGBT acronym, will also be able to register a marriage between a man and two lesbians http://www.brusselsjournal.com/node/301, or a transgender/transsexual woman ( letter T in LGBT) be able to marry a woman http://shelleybridgman.wordpress.com/category/transgender/ ?

    Do you want
your identities as husband, wife, mother, father, son, daughter, grandparent to be airbrushed out of the language and all legal documents, so that children end up not knowing where they come from or to whom they are related - just so that a miniscule number of gays who have children through IVF and adoption can force the rest of society to celebrate their strange partnerships?

    Do you want
the necessary considerations of consummation, adultery and life – long commitment to be taken out of marriage vows and legally binding agreements just so that strange and unnatural relationships can turn marriage into anything they want- or to get rid of it completely?

    Do you want
the state compulsorily teaching children that all manner of sexual behaviours and relationships are to be experimented with as described in the Terrance Higgins publications at an early, formative stage of their lives, as young as four? Do you want the state to take away your children and put them into “care” because you are teaching them about purity within natural marriage as opposed to Lyn Featherstone’s [1] strange definition of marriage?

Although the government are determined to pass gay , homosexual, lesbian, strange and equal ( whatever) marriage legislation either in the middle of this month , June, or early next year, the battle to preserve and protect our marriages, families and children “aint over yet.” By using the four points above, please make your voice heard and get just five people to sign the Coalition for Marriage petition. We need at least a million signatures . There is work to be done. http://c4m.org.uk/
