The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) has this week informed a Christian counsellor that, following her appeal, she will still lose her senior accredited status, after she was tricked into provided counselling to a fake client who was secretly an undercover journalist.
However, the Appeal Panel reversed much of the original decision against the counsellor, Lesley Pilkington, and has now lessened the original sanctions against her.
Mrs Pilkington, a counsellor with over 20 years of experience, was originally subject to a complaint made by homosexual journalist Patrick Strudwick, who approached Lesley while attending a Christian conference about sexuality and pretended to be a Christian in need of help over unwanted homosexual attraction. Lesley agreed to help him and they mutually agreed that the counselling would be based on Christian principles.
Throughout the two counselling sessions, Mr Strudwick repeatedly told Lesley that he wanted to leave his homosexual lifestyle, that it had become meaningless to him and that he wanted to change.
Following the sessions he lodged a complaint to the BACP to get her struck off. He also secretly recorded his two sessions with Lesley, and then sold his story to a national newspaper, maligning Lesley in the press.
The Appeal Panel found this week that Lesley should still lose her senior accredited status because she should not have assumed that Mr Strudwick wanted to proceed under the same therapeutic approach that she offered, despite the fact they both agreed to do so. It also found that she should not have taken his claim that he was depressed because of his homosexuality at face value.

So let's see:
He approacher HER
He requested help and she agreed as a counselor to provide it
She was supposed to somehow know that even though he requested Christian counseling she shouldn't have assumed this is what he wanted
She shouldn't have believed him when he said he was depressed because of his homosexuality.
He (maybe illegally) recorded the counseling sessions, then made them public and trashes her in the press
There is so much wrong with this decision. And yet, this is what the US can look forward to if we continue down the path of SSM.
Perfidious Albion no more.
Post-Christian England is the incubator for the nightmare New Fascism, where tolerance is extended to all but the sane.
“For Patrick to seek to take away her professional accreditation and malign her in this way exposes the more sinister side of the homosexual lobby. It’s incredibly intolerant.”
Amen. Why would a group of people so "proud" and satisfied with their lifestyles want to "root out therapists and psychiatrists...bring an end to them...disrupt their meetings...prevent religious groups from offering ‘counselling’ which aims to change sexual orientation"?
The LGBT lobby is going to end up having most of what they've worked for repealed once the general public gets fed up with these types of tactics. Any legitimate grievances of gay people are bound to be overshadowed in the public eye by the nastiness of a select few. This movement is obviously not one of "live and let live." It's intolerant, and often vicious.
What a disgusting thing done to Mrs. Pilkington. I'm a bit encouraged that most of the original charges against her were not upheld. Strudwick could not get her removed from the BACP, and he backed down from trying to eliminate reparative therapy from the UK.
Why wouldn't a counsellor lose her accreditation for employing methods that violate the acrediting body's code of ethics?
That's just wrong and sad.
A prime example of British homofascism.
How low can you go?
'Why wouldn't a counsellor lose her accreditation for employing methods that violate the acrediting body's code of ethics?'
It didn't say anything about that in the article. In fact, Mr. Strudwick later had to drop the claim saying that 'He had no evidence to establish that such therapy is not beneficial to some clients.'
Psychiatry is in diapers. A counselor counseled by counselors. What a nightmare. Who tests the counselor of the counselor? It is all an inexact science to begin with, so don't marvel at the insanity of those who pretend to counsel. Since there is no experimental science, only goody-goody talk sessions, it becomes as bureaucratic as Obama's government. Everything is relative. If it makes money, it must be correct. Not. That's the same rationale of drug lords, con artists. Let's go back to logic. It works.
I have a friend who, after "stepping out of" as he puts it, the homosexual lifestyle, is about a million times happier than before (I knew him before as well, not just taking his word for it, he's REALLY different). Here in the States, we have Courage, a support group for people with homosexual attraction who want to get out of that lifestyle.
But according to this, he should have been counselled to continue subjecting himself to sodomy, unwillingly, as THAT is better for his mental health?
So, if you find yourself with homosexual attraction, you should be told, in counseling, that you actually have no choice about how you live your life, you cannot cease living that way if you like?
NOW, was it that she counselled him to go straight, or to be chaste? I'm not convinced that everyone can go straight but may just wind up frustrated with such counseling, but nowhere in the article does it say that's what was happening here, just that he wished to leave that lifestyle behind. You don't actually have to have sexual contact with anyone you know. Chastity/celibacy is an option (remember St. Paul's teaching on that? This is a Christian principle).
Check out and promote Courage as a way for people to find peace if they want it. There's a group for family members and friends too, to learn how to be helpful and deal appropriately.
Professional accreditation in the full range of fields will be on the line wherever the supremacy of gay identity politics has become entrenched.
Laywers. Doctors. Therapists. Teachers. You name it.
The scope creep in the execution of the gay agenda is considered a feature not a glitch by the hardliners.
The softer supporters will eventually become entrapped in the ever widening net of pro-gay bigotry. Members of the gay identity group will become victims of this, also, eventually. The identity is owned by the group; and the apparent leaders lead from behind the avante garde militants. That has been the history of the gay agenda. It is prelude to the future -- or at least a forewarning.
