Oh that was brillantly written Dr. Alveda King as you are an inspiration to us all.

In its decision to please the world, the NAACP has turned its back on the things of God, therefore, we must encourage those who know the truth to speak out -- to stand firmly on the solid rock -- to not look to the right or to the left. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said: Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter," said Gardner.

This is the exact sentiment in the Bible God's written word. Jesus warned about turning from God and trying to please the world. You cannot serve two masters, the world and God. The kingdom of God is not of this world. Sadly we see the NAACP deciding to serve Satan and the world and turning from God.
I commend you Dr. King for your courageous and righeous stand.

Of course MLK wouldn't have supported Same-sex Marriage.

This man fought for LITERAL human rights! He fought for blacks being able to vote, to go to the same school, to drink from the same fountain, to be acknowledged as a human being.

MLK probably wouldn't be campaigning against it, he might shake his head in disapproval and then go on about his day.

Who was Bayard Rustin, Alveda? Did you never encounter Bayard in all the time spent around your Uncle? If Dr. King shared your anti-gay views, why did he allow an openly gay man like Bayard to organize the March on Washington way back in 1963? Why did his late wife Correta Scott King have the exact opposite view regarding gays and lesbians than the one you espouse? Correta said that her husband would have supported Civil Marriage Equality. On what basis do you claim that a man's 17 year old niece (you), knew a man's heart and mind better than the woman, who he shared his life with?

The late Alveda Kings tepid words in favor of gay rights can only be read to advocate civil unions...and thats a strech...

The woman (like the NAACP) had a coalition to keep together and a left wing to placate. Despite all this she barley coozied up to "gay rights" and never endorsed same-sex "marriage".

First, I think the more impactful headline here was supposed to read Uncle, not Grandfather. Though it's still accurate, it appears as NOM doesn't know the MLK - Alveda connection, she just says the things we like and find that useful.

Second, no one in their right mind will take Alveda's word over Correta Scott King's word how MLK would handle gay rights. But the rationalizers at NOM will entertain us otherwise.
