Video: NC Gov. Perdue on Marriage Amendment: It Makes North Carolina Look Like Mississippi

Democratic Governor Bev Perdue is not happy that 61% of citizens in her state voted to protect marriage:

The Mississippi Governor, Phil Bryant, thinks Gov. Perdue is being "petty", according to the AP:

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant said Friday it was “petty” for North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue to insult Mississippi while bemoaning that voters in her state approved a ballot measure banning same-sex marriage.

Bryant, a Republican who became governor in January, said he intends to write to Perdue about her comments. She is a Democrat who isn’t seeking a second term.

... In Jackson, Miss., Bryant said Perdue’s comments were “very disappointing.”

“To be able to use Mississippi in a disparaging way on a popular vote in her own state is, I think, something that’s certainly petty and something I think she will reflect on and hopefully apologize for those types of remarks,” Bryant told reporters after an unrelated news conference in Jackson.

What an arrogant statement, based on ignorance. Good thing she's not seeking another term.

Looking like Mississippi on the marriage issue is a good thing.

But Perdue clearly intended it as a bad thing. Her remarks dissed both the people of Mississippi and the people of North Carolina.

That is par for the course for the prominent voices of the SSM campaign. All insult. All the time. Nothing good comes from that.

People who cannot respect the will of the people should not run for office. Did she really think the people of North Carolina don't respect the sanctity and morality of marriage or that NC would buy the homosexual "friendships can be marriages" idea. Sorry, no sale.

Last September,Gov. Perdue suggested the US should suspend congressional elections for the next two years, due to the debt crisis.
Not the brightest bulb, to say the least.

Gov. Purdue looks really tired. I mean really, really tired. Not seeking a Second Term? That would be suicide. With her belittling remark, she just gave Mississippi some notoriety, and if this continues, we might actually learn to spell Miss-i-ssippi. She's an embarrassment for professional women. She shouldn't given them such publicity:

“I would invite any North Carolina-based company wanting to move to a lower-taxed, less-regulated state to look at our business-friendly opportunities,” Mississippi Lt. Gov. Reeves said.

    Bang!

Are California, Maine and Oregon "like Mississippi" too? Please stop saying that only conservative southern states are pro-family. I live in Texas and Im sure were much more traditional than most other states but gay marriage is considered controversial everywhere. Even in ultra-liberal Denmark at the moment!
