A gay couple in London is reportedly “devastated” after an alleged in vitro fertilization mix-up left them with two children from different racial backgrounds, NewsCore reported.
The couple said the allegedly botched treatment only came to light recently after their second child was born; they had wanted to use the same sperm donor again so their children would be genetically related.
“The damage to the [younger] child in the future, to both the siblings and the family unit could be quite catastrophic,” said Caron Heyes, the couple’s lawyer.

These are the same folks who shriek that biology doesn't matter!
Marriage corruption supporters represent the Dr. Frankenstein's of the natural world,
And this has to do with gay-marriage how?
Eliasasm,
This speaks to the procreation rational for limiting marriage to one man one woman pairings which are consistant to the the laws of nature.
I, for one, look forward to an honest debate on this subject; which your response demonstrate you know you cannot win on merit.
It's just a defective product. Surely it came with a warranty?
Randy - I recall a similar problem in the News with two straight , infertile, couples where the sperm or eggs got mixed up and the male-A fathered egg-B and vice-versa. It was a tragic laboratory errror. May I presume you find this against the laws of nature as well? You argument, therefore, is against IVF, and not solely on the participants of the IVF effort?
Chuck:
You may certainly conclude that the wisdom of Catholic teaching- as well as natural law itself- is vindicated in these incredibly sickening insights into the "designer baby" mentality.
the "I want" generation strikes again......
Randy,
Really?? Marriage has nothing to do with how people procreate. Marriage does not force or deny procreation. Really??
eliasasm,
You are rambeling again? You should take a nap before you have an aneurysm.
The best thing the opposition has going for them is their ability to distract from the actual topic. They're not as dumb as they act (or at least I hope not).
Seriously, though, this defective product needs to be traded in on a better model.
To say nothing of the heightened risks of growing up fatherless. Poor children. All will be made right, someday.
Oh for goodness sake. I see parents and children of different races at my hospital all the time. If you truly love and make a commitment to your child and family, it won't matter. And this certainly isn't the first IVF mishap. I think the uproar is more about this couple trying to score some money out of this. If it's so horrible that they think it will destroy the familiy, then give the child up for adoption.
KAK1958,
Children are not commodities to be traded on the open market.
The marriage corruption movement is a self centered horde of miscreants that holds no stock in the future of socities .
@eliasas
"And this has to do with gay-marriage how?
Because to be eligible for such a procedure you will have to be married (there is that word again). And the biggest potential market will be couples that cannot have babies themselves. Homosexuals are the single most ready made rich market for this business. That is why the medical world, laboratories, pharmaceutical industries, etc. have certainly their share of influence in pushing gay-marriage. And selling the idea that man-man, woman-man is all the same to children and to society. And putting all baby eligible peoples under the same name of marriage, will reduce potential negative social taboo reactions that would hinder sales. Marriage, after all, is all about uniting children to parents...
So you see why NOM wants to be careful with what our society does with the word marriage. And why the homosexual movement might only be the useful grunts on the front lines. This has to do with much more than just gay rights.
Vacant believe how unfeeling some posters are being. Whether the child is loved by the couple involved (and I believe it will) it is nonetheless devastating that a child will eventually find that their existence can be put down to a mix up. That is why the parents are devastated.
Paul,
The commodity buyers are devestated because now they feel guilty and now somebody must step up and take responsibility for their sense of guilt.
Oh dear, too much diversity!
I sincerely hope these two will learn to practice Tolerance toward their new purchase.
Tens of thousands of children are removed from straight parents homes every year by the CPS, and NOM has to dig this story up to stir up the animate mongering?
IVF intentionally strips a child from one or more of its parents for the benefit of selfish individuals. There are plenty of children waiting to be adopted that have already lost their parents.
IVF for same-sex couples is even worse in that it deprives a child of at least one parent AND it deprives the child of two-sexed parental household.
No one thinks about the children; just about their selfish-assed selves. Too bad for these people.
Pete

There are issues larger than gay rights and ssm.
I would hope that even secularists are opposed to the commodification of human beings.

Good News
I am sorry to inform you that, in the US at least, there is no requirement to be married to access
this technology.
A case can be made that ssm will increase the acceptability of commercial conception and you present persuasive arguments for how that might happen. However, right now, in the US, it's open season.
AM, check the NOM fan posts, more attacks on gays.
Pete
NOM has had a number of posts on this subject that did not involve gay couples. Check 'em out. You will find the same level of disapproval.
So I guess it IS important for children to be genetically related to family members. It’s just not preferable for children to be related to both parents (if this were to stand in the way of an adult’s desire to form a certain sexual relationship and bring children into the household).
I do agree that this is a “devastating” situation. Adoption might be preferable, though it alleviate the hardship a child can face when it is revealed that he/she resulted from a botched laboratory procedure.
I don’t know why, but this story brings Zach Wahls to mind. When he testified in New Hampshire, he said that it’s really cool that he and his sister came from the same “donor” and are fully-related siblings. This whole thing is mind-boggling; we live in a sick time when it’s “really cool” to be fully-related to your brothers and sisters. But this poor child in London doesn’t even share partial relation to the child who was previously conceived by a donor.
An all-around sad situation.
I meant to write: "though it can't alleviate the hardship..."
Another correction: Zach testified in Iowa, not New Hampshire.
You guys bother me when you link to crap...oh wait just realized what site I'm on...
I believe adults get to decide who they have a relationship with. It's none of the government's business.
@ AM
Thanks for the correction. And for the help.
