The Providence Journal with an update about the story we covered yesterday:
A Pilgrim High School student will finish a corridor wall mural as she originally intended -- showing a boy's phases of life from childhood through marriage and parenthood.
The mural, still largely in pencil-sketch form, became a subject of debate last week when school officials had the ending painted over because there was some concern that the traditional ending might offend some people with alternative lifestyles.
On Thursday, School Superintendent Peter Horoschak said that the student, whom he declined to identify, would be allowed to paint what she originally envisioned, and had asked for a couple of days to think about it.
After a meeting at the school Monday afternoon, officials said that the mural will be completed as originally planned.

This is great news. The student made a good decision to paint her original vision, and the school made the right decision to let her do it.
That's good. There honestly was no reason to prevent her from painting this. It's not like she's trying to push any anti-gay or religious message with it.
I liked her original drawing. I think it's kind of neat that they provide that kind of creative outlet for students at their school. It's too bad someone tried to turn it into some political debate.
I'm annoyed with all this pc crap. I'm glad the girl will get to paint the mural, but what is so controversial with a painting that depicts a traditional family?
Offending people? Jeeze...no one cares if people of faith are offended but we have to worry about hurting the feelings of others.
This country is becoming so backwards I'm starting to wonder what I swore to defend.
I never thought I'd see the day when it would offend anyone to see a traditional family being promoted as what's normal and right. At least someone at this school had some sense and decency.
What a sad story. They should have just let her paint it from the beginning. What's offensive about family?
