Statement of California Democratic Party Chairman John Burton on President Obama’s Opposition to Discriminatory Same-Sex Marriage Ban in North Carolina:
California Democrats proudly support President Obama for taking a stand against a divisive ballot amendment that seeks to codify discrimination against same-sex couples into North Carolina’s constitution.
As Democrats across the nation make plans to gather in Charlotte, North Carolina for the 2012 Democratic National Convention, it’s imperative that we send a clear and united message against all such efforts that seek to divide Americans and enshrine discrimination. California Democrats stand ready to help and we will soon be in touch with ways that Democrats here can start getting the word out to voters in North Carolina about the need to defeat Amendment One.

Yes! By all means, force the Democrat party to put same-sex marriage on its platform!
The People understand that it is ok to treat different things differently. A couple made up of two men or two women is not the same as a male-female couple. Common sense dictates this; ask any child what the difference is, and he will tell you: two men cannot make a baby; two women cannot make a baby. THAT is why it is OK to discriminate between homosexuals couples and heterosexual couples. Much in the same way that we discriminate between pairs of siblings, moms-sons, owners-pets. They're DIFFERENT! Duh.
Go ahead this is the kind of push the conservative movement needs. See how many democrats vote gop this election. The dnc is digging its own grave.
'it’s imperative that we send a clear and united message against all such efforts that seek to divide Americans and enshrine discrimination'
I don't think it's the traditional marriage people who are causing all the division. It's the other sides insistance on forcing the acceptance of their lifestyle on the rest of us that is the problem. As far as discrimination, let's take a look at some:
Driving starting at 16 - Age discrimination
Jockey - Height discrimination
Marrying 1st cousin - Ancestral discrimination
Marrying a minor - Age discrimination
Don't yell fire in a theater - free speech discrimination
Sex offenders can't live near schools - location discrimination
Society is full of discrimination, for the benefit of society itself
I too wish to offer my full support to the CA Democrats in their support of this iniativite. As one who is hoping for a big conservative victory this November any offers of help from these advocates is welcome.
