HuffPo: Democratic Top Ranks Still View SSM as "Politically Sensitive"

The Huffington Post on the split within the Democrat party over whether to put same-sex marriage in their platform:

An unexpected surge in support to place same-sex marriage on the Democratic Party platform at the August convention has energized LGBT advocates and complicated an already delicate situation facing President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign.

...Interviews with more than a dozen party officials and activists reveal that despite widespread and growing support for marriage equality among Americans, the issue is still viewed as politically sensitive in the top ranks of the Democratic Party. While many high-profile figures have publicly advocated for including strong language in the platform, the Obama campaign and the allied Democratic National Committee are searching for ways to split the difference: showing support for equality but stopping short of a full-fledged endorsement.

...Several Democratic sources working with the committee have acknowledged that conversations were already underway about how to placate the pro-same-sex marriage majority inside the party without alienating culturally conservative Democrats in states like Ohio and North Carolina, where the convention is being held.

Huffington post is the puppetmaster of the president. They and the liberal media are pushing the gay agenda.

so, what's left, SW? A coalition of hicks, bigots and religious wackos - all NOMers fall into two or three of those categories.

I believe that the vast majority of the Democrat party believes that marriage is for male-female couples only, and that trumped-up, biased polls suggesting the contrary are mere tools to try to convince people that they are out of the mainstream.

Leaders of the Democratic party know this, that's why they will never put it in their platform.

    Well duh!

Even if support for same-sex marriage creeps upward, there is still a narrow majority of people who support it whilst there exists a vast opposition to it.

Really? It took liberals this long to figure it out?

Why would this be? Because Obama and his merry band of looney tunes KNOW that the national polls are wrong and that a majority of Americans oppose SSM. And clear majorities oppose them in battleground states like Florida, Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, Michigan, Pennsylvania, etc.

Stefan, there is a need to stigmatize the practice of same-sex sexual relationships, and any opponent of this is attempting to further the "homosexual agenda".I prefer not to use "gay" in that sense, but it's part of the political attitude toward homosexuality that calls itself by that name.

I am a Democrat strongly against SSM.

    "There is no gay agenda"

Someone should inform the HRC. They've no idea they're "agenda-less." 😉

I cannot believe the lies this "Organization" is feeding to the public. Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals, Straights, Pansexuals, Queers, Questioning, Intersex, Transexuals, Cisexuals, We all deserve to be united with our partner of our choosing. The governmental assignment of who is a couple and who gets benefits should be gender blind. More and more Americans know this.

This whole organization is a lost cause. the next generations will prevail in the long-run.

If there us such a thing as a "gay agenda" are we to presume that those who oppose the equal rights if gay people are involved in some sort of "straight agenda" as well? As far as I can tell the gay agenda is quite simple:
    No. 1 Equality
    No. 2 see No. 1
When that goal is met, the agenda will cease to be necessary.

@Dan, thank goodness the Good Lord made us all equal, and that is reflected in our law. Already. You and I have exactly the same opportunities, exactly the same right to enter into marriage, Already. So, letsee....
    No. 1 Equality
    No. 2 see No. 1

    1. Force Xtians into the closet
    2. Force acceptance and tolerance of all sexual deviancy (see No.1)
    3. Begin in the schools. (see No. 2)

When that goal is met, the agenda will cease to be necessary.
