I say wait till you get a Conservative in the governorship. It's one thing to have veto-proof majorities but overrides don't happen often.
Zack: I would have the vote anyways. It will show the people that we support marriage and that we support the representatives that stand with us. If he vetoes it then so be it, he will have to answer to the voters at the next election.
Have the vote, so that normal people can see how extremist conservatives and religionists are.
John, you do realize Lynch is retiring, right?
No I did not know that. Good because he would have been voted out.
In 2010 Lynch was reelected with 52.6% of the vote in a year that strongly favored republicans and in which he had signed the same-sex marriage bill. The republican candidate received only 45%, while the libertarian who supported same-sex marriage took another 2.2%. That he would have been defeated if he had chosen to seek a fifth term is not likely and was rated as leaning dem by the Cook Political Report before he announced his retirement.
@Steven,
"In 2010 Lynch was reelected with 52.6% of the vote in a year that strongly favored republicans..."
And why did that year strongly favor Republicans; because the Democrats redefined marriage in opposition to the will of the people.
A veto proof Senate and House is an ideological reaction to a perceived slight; not a cyclical change.
