NBC 10 Philadelphia reports:
"If same-sex marriage is legalized in New Jersey, the state could see an economic boon of $119 million over three years, economic experts say."
Who are these supposed "economic experts"?
Later, NBC 10 claims this report is from the Philadelphia Business Journal.
But the Philly Business Journal, it turns out, is using the same source that all these outlets cite when they try to claim redefining marriage will stimulate the economy: the Williams Institute.
Yes, the same Williams Institute whose economic arguments Maggie Gallagher and I have debunked numerous times in the past.
For many gay marriage activists, if an argument doesn't work, just keep repeating it, over and over again.

It's called "Stewart Smalley's Daily Affirmation":
"I deserve good things. I am entitled to my share of happiness. I refuse to beat myself up. I am attractive person. I am fun to be with
Because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and, doggonit, people like me!"
As spoken in the feminine.
What about legal costs. Cost of changing forms and records. Costs of other gay agenda items that follow like putting gay education in the public schools.
Ms. Gallagher's and your analyses are merely selective observation. Gays marrying means more wedding receptions which means more revenues for the hospitality and travel industries.
That logic is irrefutable. If you want to argue about the amount, there are studies that we can refer to.
I can't understand why they think the state economy will suddenly turn around with the acceptance of same sex marriage.
That's to easy.
Of cores anything that has to do with sex is going to bring in money. And yes, homoSEXuality has to do first and foremost with sex. And anything new to the marketplace is going to create new habits, new desires, new needs, new jobs and new cash flow. And homo-unions and homo parents and laboratory babies and the whole restructuring of a society and civilization is an exciting new big, bright and plank page for the market, economists, and wall street to get very excited over. Just need the government's and a few main stream religion's (Episcopal USA, Protestant USA, etc.) to put their stamp of approval on it to get this financial bonanza really rolling. (The whole homo-movement just a tool to be used at that point.)
As well taught in Harvard, don't work yourself into an existing market, go out and create your own market. The market of heteroSEXuality is already close to saturated (though not yet); its time to bring in the market of homoSEXuality to sell to the masses. These economic geniuses already have us selling ourselves and our bodies to each other. And now we are this close to selling and buying and using our own babies and children. Who in Washington is going to say no to money? Especially when the American church and the American god themselves are just about jumping out of their pews to say, “go for it! God bless”. What's good for the economy is good for the America people, after all.
Okay, okay, so I'm not in a good mood today. Sorry everyone.
I know. As we know. Hope and dignity are right there in from of me – and they're for free. And they are free of government.
And also, the fat lady hasn't sung yet! And she never will.

For many anti-gay-marriage activists, if an argument doesn't work, just keep repeating it, over and over again.
Oh wow, look how well generalizations work.
The "SSM = Economic Stimulus" meme has been debunked many times over. The opposition doesn't care if it's a lie, as witnessed in this comment thread. They'll just continue repeating it. The ignorant might believe it, at least for a while. There's a sucker born every minute.
As stated in comment #1, the truth is it'll cost all of us money.
SSM activists are music tracks on "repeat." I'm not sure how much hope there is in getting them to give up debunked arguments.
I repeat my call for opposite-sex couples in states that legalize SSM to move their weddings elsewhere...a fairly small fraction doing so would cancel out any new business from SSM.
If your relationship is worthy of becoming legally husband and wife, don't settle for being Partner A and Partner B.
When the only arguments you have in support of your agenda are based on bald-faced lies and falsehoods you have no other option but to regurgitate said lies and falsehoods - when surrender is not an option.
If these people had any self respect they wouldn’t be demanding government endorsement of their depravity in the first place.
good stuff Tom! You and Maggie are truth bearers
If all the state is interested in is economics, then let's legalize prostitution. That will bring in WAY more money! Society can always make money on the vices of its people.
Because, in matters of economics, we should believe someone that was homeschooled in theology over, uh, the nations most well respected economists?
Paul,
You do know that Lincoln was home schooled don't you.
So who are these "most well respected economists" you write of; could they possibly be the same "respected economists" that made the same decleration in D.C. where the realized actuals trended to greater defictis?
Paul, even economists have hidden agendas... We should credit to no one, seeing is believing...
Folks: Let us not forget the economic stimulus in regards to poor health approving this will bring.
Just think of all of the health care jobs that could be created if we could just get more people onto this homosexual thing. As they give each other AIDS and other STD's the healthcare industry is sure to see an economic boom.
Increasing sickness and disease which results in even higher costs of business and health care really benefits the economy.
The prize benefit is shorter life spans. The more people we can get to die of AIDS that is less Social Security we have to pay out.
Oh yea, I see the economic benefits this study sees, yea right. How stupid do you think we are.
Amsterdam taxes prostitution, as reportable income. So I can see how taxing so called SS"m" behavior and practices might bring in new revenue for cash strapped state and federal governments. Taxing the wealthy extremists might be a great idea, not so sure what it does for the moral fabric of society though.

John N: Do you ply such erudition in your trailer park? Had you gone to college, you would have developed better critical thinking skills. Your deliberately offensive comment displays remarkable ignorance.
Good God, Gregory! You go after John N. with nasty cracks and you can't even spell your own name correctly. GEEZ
