Dr. Morse to WA Legislature: "History Will Not Be Kind To You"

Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse of the Ruth Institute testifies to the Washington State Legislature.

"I'm here today to address you who've already made up your minds to redefine marriage. History will not be kind to you. Previous generations of social experimenters have caused unimaginable misery for millions of people. Particular people advocated the policies that led today to the 50% divorce rate, and 40% out of wedlock childbearing rate. And none of these people have ever been held accountable. But I'm here today to hold you to account for the predictable harm that you have already caused and will continue to cause in your effort to redefine marriage."

"And to those of you who vote for man-woman marriage: stay strong. History is on your side."

    And what were the "policies" that led to the 50% divorce rate and the 40% out of wedlock birthrate?

    And what do either of those things have to do with SSM?

    Am i missing something "dr"? When was voting for mariage equality voting not voting for man woman marriage. If one exists the other cannot? I beleive that if marriage equality exists, straight marriages will be able to continue as usual. Poor "dr".

    Dr. Morse's courage and conviction are admirable. She makes so many good points, it's hard to take them all in with just one viewing of the vid. SSM is a reckless social experiment, and children are the guinea pigs.

    @Layne

    Are you that ignorant to history?

    While I disagree with the 50% divorce rate as it has long since been debunked as a myth(the actual rate is somewhere between 20-30%) the rate is as high as it is because the left pushed for the No Fault Divorce legislation which turned marriage from a committed relationship to a boyfriend/girlfriend union that could be severed if one party feels unwilling to make the marriage work.

    Absolutely!!! And re-instate the right to sue for alienation of affection, those individuals who commit adultery with a married individual.

    Dr. Morse knocks it out of the park!

    It is crucial this year to make sure that, in addition to our highly likely victories in MN and NC, that the four Judases in New York are retired, as a very clear message to legislators throughout the country that Dr. Morse is not kidding at all when she speaks of holding those who attempt the redefinition of marriage against the will of the people to account.

    I'm sure repealing no-fault divorce will go over swimmingly with your right-wing ilk.

    And I shouted "LOL" because the idea of reversing no-fault divorce is positively ludicrous. Can you cite a SINGLE poll that shows majority support behind that?

    Or is it just people like you and Dr. Morse averting your eyes away from the philandering Gingriches of the world and projecting the 50% divorce rate onto the gays..?

    Yes! No fault divorce is a big legislative error, leading to the destruction of society, and promoting hate and egotic behaviours. Legislators must repair this error as soon as possible.

    Deb,standards of conduct are not "bigotry",and the stereotypical attitude of a bigot toward a target group is the opposite of that expressed by critics of same-sex "marriage".We do not treat homosexuals as helpless slaves of their hormones,the way a bigot thinks members of group X can't help but do horrible thing Y because "those people are all like that".We insist they can learn that same-sex sex is wrong.If we were bigoted against them we'd say they could never learn.

    Social engineering is a remarkable thing.

    The sword cuts both ways.

    Girst we defeat the marriage corruption movement in its same sex pseudo-marriage manifestation.

    I don't think announcing a boycott of businesses, simply because the owners are openly pro-SSM, would be a good idea. People are entitled to their views.

    However, if these businesses' own customers start actively reaching out to them to share our views about marriage, and why we don't want a handful of politicians redefining it, then that's a great idea. The more people who do that, the better.

    @Richard B Cortijo

    Redefining marriage as a de-gendered institution does not place SSM quietly along side the old institution. it completely redefines what marriage is and changes it legal construct, destroying or distorting the older concepts of husband and wife, mother and father. Just as "gay" used to mean cheerful and now means something else, the new definition will drive out to old, aided by lawsuits against churches and individuals, and vastly expanding state power at the expense of the natural family with its natural and biological bonds of creation.
