"Washington voters deserve the right to vote on marriage just as voters in 31 other states have been able to do." —Brian Brown, NOM's President—

Olympia, WA — The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) today pledged to work with allies in Washington State to mount a referendum campaign to ensure that voters have the final say on the definition of marriage in Washington. Legislation, House Bill 2516 and Senate Bill 6239, has been introduced to abandon Washington's historic definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman, thus imposing same-sex marriage on the state.
"NOM will not stand by and let activist politicians redefine marriage, the bedrock of civilization, without voters having a say," said Brian Brown, NOM's president. "Just as we mounted a People's Veto in Maine and were responsible for qualifying Proposition 8 to the ballot in California, we will make sure that voters in Washington have the ability to decide the definition of marriage for themselves."
NOM was the largest contributor to the Proposition 8 ballot qualification and led the Question 1 People's Veto campaign in Maine. Both measures passed, overturning gay marriage and preserving marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
"Thirty one states have voted on the definition of marriage and everyone voted to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman," Brown said. "Not only will we mount a successful referendum campaign, we will hold every Washington legislator accountable for his or her vote. We'll challenge Republicans in primaries, and we will take on Democrats in the General Election and make sure that their constituents know they tried to abandon the most important social institution ever devised without voters being given a say in the matter."

FYI, NOM admirers:
We need to get the word out to religious communities that anti-gay people are twisting God's words to condone their hate.
Homosexuality is not a sin. The Bible is constantly being taken out of context to support anti-gay views. Scholars who have studied the Bible in context of the times and in relation to other passages have shown those passages (Leviticus, Corinthians, Romans, etc) have nothing to do with homosexuality. These passages often cherry-picked while ignoring the rest of the Bible. The sins theses passages are referring to are idolatry, Greek temple sex worship, prostitution, pederasty with teen boys, and rape, not homosexuality or two loving consenting adults.

Great news. We also need to support the Minnesota marriage amendment.
This is a minor set back, but Indiana will have a marriage amendment vote in 2013 I believe.
New Hampshire will overturn its law and so will Iowa if they can get the majority in the senate.
There should be a bigger push in West Virginia and Wisconsin as well.
What about finding anti-SSM Democrats (I am one but not in that state) to challenge pro-SSM ones in primaries,or any of those pro-SSM Republicans who get renominated?
Washington's domestic partnership law.
Let us see.
If the bill is not passed, same-sex couples in domestic
partnerships will still have equality under state law as married couples.
If the bill IS passed, same-sex couples in "marriages" will NOT
have equality under federal law as married couples.
What, exactly, is redefining marriage supposed to solve, again?
Michael
Thank You!!! The initiative process has helped turn back overspending in Washington. Let's use it to restore come common sense for marriage!
Marcos, being same-sex makes same-sex sexual activity wrong for individuals of any sexually dimorphic species, and it should always be deplored wherever observed regardless of the teachings of any religion.
Marcos,
Stop believing the falsehoods of the Father of Lies(Satan) which has fooled man from the beginning of time, in the Garden of Eden, by turning his back on GOD.
I was once part of the activities of homosexuality but I am no longer for when you bend knee in full repentance to our Creator, he will see your heart and forgive your sinful ways. I overcame this addiction, a learned behavior, by opening my mind; being open to listening, listening to people like the National Organization for Marriage and a family christian radio here in New York City (570WMCA).
The Lord mentions in his word in Proverbs 3:21, "My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment , do not let them out of your sight: they will be life for you, and ornament to grace your neck."
But that change can only come when you are willing to be obedient to what you listen. What is the difference between sound judgment and discernment, you may ask? Discernment ( or discretion) is the ability GOD gives to many people to think and make correct choices. Sound judgment, however, he gives only to those who follow him. Sound judgment includes discernment but goes beyond it. It includes the knowledge that comes from instruction, training, and discipline, and the insight that results from knowing and applying GOD's truths.
There are great teachers and pastors on the radio today that GOD uses and his message will stir you and you will hunger for the truth, the truth that JESUS brought into this World.
That anger or revenge that you feel comes from the sin itself and as sinners we tend to accuse those who know the truth, truth that comes only through the Holy Spirit of GOD.
Hatred and bigotry comes from the sin itself not from GODs truths. As a follower of Jesus we are taught to show love and compassion and humility in our responses when someone disagrees.
You were born from a woman not a man-GOD made everything perfect and 2 men and 2 women just don't equate. The evil behind this so called 'Gay Movement' is one major factor to blame for your feelings because they purposely intend to mask sexual immorality with the words LOVE, EQUAL RIGHTS and CIVIL RIGHTS-which is not its a deplorable lie, so don't fall for it. You were not born this way-its a sin, a learned behavior and trust me when I tell you; the day when you open your heart to Christ you will understand what it means-but the will and determination has to be in you.
Men in sin can't help you but deceive you-the links you posted are to sympathize with a lifestyle of perversion. You can only find peace in you when you overcome your sinful lifestyle and with true repentance my brother.
**GOD BLESS YOU from New York and I will have you in my prayers~~♥
