A woman has filed a federal lawsuit against her school district and a high school teacher for kicking her son out of class because her son’s religious beliefs prevent him from accepting homosexuality.
The Thomas More Law Center filed the lawsuit last week on behalf of Sandra Glowacki, a Catholic, who accused Howell Public School District and teacher Johnson McDowell of violating her son’s constitutional rights.
There was no immediate comment from the district or McDowell.
... When Daniel Glowacki asked McDowell why it was permissible to display the rainbow flag, which represents gay pride, McDowell asked him if he supported gays, the suit said. When Glowacki said his Catholic religion prohibited him from doing so, McDowell told Glowacki and another student who shared Glowacki’s views to leave class, the suit said.
The district suspended McDowell for one day without pay for violating district policy but eventually rescinded the penalty to settle a grievance he filed.

Yet another reason to be wary of public schools! This young man would be better off in a private school where promotion of marriage equality and divorce are not included in the curriculum.
Lucas,if you oppose same-sex marriage there is no reason to use its supporters' offensive term "marriage equality" to describe it.
It's not the supporters' term. It's not offensive.
It's called "descriptive". It's called "not lying to make Louis feel better." It's required for discourse--if that's what you actually want.
So anyway, this kid picked a fight with a teacher, attempting to violate the same right of the teacher that he claimed the teacher violated? And he blamed Jesus.
Truly, a martyr for the ages; and here I thought those sacrificed themselves for Him, instead of this way 'round.
Pat (guy or gal): marriage-equality is indeed descriptive - it means every adult can marry another of the opposite sex, as long as their State does not bar blood-related relatives. It can't get more equal than that. But you mean 'marriage for all, including your dog'.
Pat,pretending there is any issue of "equality" at stake is offensive to anyone with a real understanding of the issues,a set that apparently excludes you.
I would hope my kids would take the same stand as this young man. No one of good conscience can support homosexual behavior, which is degrading and dangerous. "Gay" is a political label, which is not the same as same-sex attraction. Naturally my kids are being raised to be compassionate to all individuals, but not to tolerate everything a person says or does as "good" or something to be supported.
