Pope Encourages U.S. Bishops To Continue Witnessing to Marriage

Groups of bishops visit with the pope every five years. This past Saturday a group of bishops from the United States visited Pope Benedict and he commended them for, among other things, their actions in support of marriage:

"I cannot fail to express my appreciation of the real progress which the American Bishops have made, individually and as a Conference, in responding to these issues and in working together to articulate a common pastoral vision, the fruits of which can be seen, for example, in your recent documents on faithful citizenship and on the institution of marriage. The importance of these authoritative expressions of your shared concern for the authenticity of the Church’s life and witness in your country should be evident to all." -- Zenit

Now if the Church could just get a handle on the rampant homosexual activity taking place in the seminaries and rectories and reestablish the priesthood as a profession for men who don't have same-sex attraction, they might actually be able to protect marriage and restore the Church at the same time. I personally do not respect the pope due to what occurred in the Roman Catholic Church with child molestation. I am an orthodox christian

The Church needs to get rid of the homosexuals in the priesthood. I'm convinced that it's the homosexual priests who spread the hatred of Catholicism with claims of bigotry. I've never heard any disparaging remarks about homosexuality in my church, yet to listen to the SS"M" activists, every sermon is about how the homosexuals are going to burn in Hell.

Read the article, "the Gay Priest Problem:"

The Pope is doing what he can, but there is an infiltration in the priesthood waiting to rise and destroy Catholicism's long-held perspective on homosexuality (which, btw, is sympathetic and compassionate).

Mikhall that's an unfair assertion. The media blasts stories to distort a very complicated problem, hoping to fool people with base instincts. I'm sure Orthodoxy has had its share of pedastry too.

I agree with ResistSSA They need to banish all homosexuals from the priesthood. That is the mea culpa of the Church at large.

While I have not read it and can't endorse its particulars,a book that targets the homosexual infiltration of the American Catholic priesthood is Randy Engel's THE RITE OF SODOMY.

ResistSSA and Louis E., there is another very powerful book about homosexual infilatation of the Catholic seminaries etitled "GOOD BYE GOOD MEN". It is a compilation of numerous personal accounts of seminary applicants who were denied acceptance to the seminaries because they were too "rigid" and "intollerant" of homosexuality. I keep hearing that homosexuality has no link to pedophelia, yet I read this book several years before the Catholic priest pedophelia scandal erupted. Marriage is a sacrament institued by God. Homosexuality has no place in Catholicism and the Church is paying the price for entertaining it. Christ promised that evil would not prevail against the Church. But He never said it wouldn't take a good shot at it and have some success. Ultimately the Truth will prevail.
