Video: Simon & Schuster Books Create Cartoon Mocking God, Christianity on Sexuality

We guess Simon & Schuster thinks this is smart marketing -- mocking Christian pastors who preach the bible's teaching on sexuality (warning: many folks will find this deeply offensive):

Meh. I've seen better. It's not even clever, really.

Christopher, that's why we ridicule any allegation that people should be forced to treat a homosexual's refusal to remain celibate as more worthy of respect or acceptance than an alcoholic's refusal to remain sober.

Louis: Absolutely. A homosexual's refusal to remain celibate is just as morally repugnant and personally offensive to me as a heterosexual's refusal to remain celibate. It is indeed a deep offense against God to desire love and companionship, especially if you are gay, but really regardless of orientation.

The analogy between homosexuality and alcoholism isn't a very good one, since alcoholism demonstrably affects a person's ability to function and contribute to society, while being gay does not.

Sounds like Obama saying with white hair "Keep up your work, and it will get better for you BLTG's". But all it does is get more people -p i s s e d - off, and many of us will work furiously to dethrone him, because he's made himself king with a lower case 'k'. It's freedom of speech. God's busy schedule? God put into Time.... a straw-man definition of God. Shows a simplistic, mortal, mind, feeding it to children.

Of course homosexuality contributes nothing of value to society at large. All you get from homosexuality is increased healthcare costs and more burdons to the entitlement system.

Louis analogy makes sense (to me. Nothing makes sense to everybody, so don't try to pull that one on us). There are third party victims in both cases. But, in our society, our governments caters to drunks (see price of liquor licenses), and they cater to driving cars. Put the two together and you have innocent, dead people lying on the side of the road. Homosexuality (that is, between men. Lesbian sexual act is harmless, in my opinion. Lesbian political activism is not.) is not as dangerous, but it is still dangerous (even to sexual partners). Louis E.'s analogy is qualitatively correct, but not quantitatively implied. If one degenerates enough, anything can be rationalized. I believe all of us males can feel like a so-called homosexual, making the words homosexual and heterosexual useless.

Bruce, anyone's decision to "be gay" (and it IS a decision to regard oneself as entitled to act on same-sex sexual attraction, regardless of whether one has any choice in being afflicted by that attraction) harms everyone exposed to it.

Adam,a heterosexual attraction may or may not provide sufficient reason to abandon the celibacy into which we are all born, but a homosexual attraction can not.Love and companionship are not the issue, the sexes exist for each other and only an opposite-sex relationship can be entitled to expression through sexual activity,

Amused at all the pearl-clutching by you guys. For what it is worth, you are indeed winning a few battles in the short-term, but in the long run you will lose the war. It is not just that gays are not going to retreat, but that each new generation of young heterosexuals is becoming simply indifferent, both of another person's sexual orientation, and of traditional organized religion.

I thought the video was mildly amusing. I'll probably get the book from the library though - it's not so compelling that I would buy it like I did 'The Magic of Reality'. I hope the depiction of YHWH is consistent with the Old Testament, it'll make for a very funny read.

Seeing all these comments here makes me glad that church membership is on a decline, and our society is growing more irreligious with each passing year.

If you're going to sincerely believe and publicly act on the belief that the creator of life, the universe, and everything actually *cares* if men have sex with other men, and want that belief to influence law in a secular nation, you're going to have problems.

There are a great many people who think that idea is laughable, and so we're going to laugh at it. People are finally realizing that religion is not an idea deserving of special protection and default 'respect', and are finally calling a the concept for what it is - ridiculous. Groups like the FFRF are making terrific progress in shoring up the wall of separation between church and State, and CFI skeptic/atheist groups are popping up throughout college campuses across the country!

If you want to believe something laughable, expect to be laughed at! I hope 50 years from now religion is what it's supposed to be: a private matter between the individual and their deity, kept to oneself and only shared with others who desire it.

Louis-Gays will be wrong forever that's right UNTIL they give up their gay lifestyle and repent to Christ and become straight. Denouncing their gay lifestyle is the only way to be right in their case.

Being queer in and of itself is rebellion against GOD . It is no accident the queers have used the rainbow as a symbol of being queer . They hate GOD and they think they can mock GOD . I have nothing personal against standing next to a queer person , i am scared to stand next to a queer person just in case GOD decides to settle the score at that moment .

I didn't find this video the least bit funny! Their whole logic falls apart with the Adam and Steve bit. It would have all ended after the fall in the Garden of Eden. They could not have procreated so hence no Messiah and no redemption for their sin. Both would eventually have died and end of Story with Satan having won. I like the TRUE version much better!

This is by far the most inane thing I have ever tried to watch. I could not finish it as it was just beyond, beyond. Of course the homosexual world would love it if there was no opposition to their "chosen" livestyle. What I don't understand is why they are trying to make the world accept what thy do behind closed doors. I don't care what a person does behind closed doors, just keep it there. Quit trying to force us to accept it. There is a danger here, those who go after young boys. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for the rampant homosexuality. He abhors it to the max. A homosexual relationship cannot biologically reproduce. When one sees a homosexual couple adopting a little boy, what can one only perceive?

Mike,I'm not a Christian, but the point that the "gay" position will always be wrong carries with it that once people afflicted by SSA renounce it they are no longer "gay",thus the wrongness continues for whoever may take the "gay" position in the future, not for those who have repented of it.

Of course, this is a joke, because only a fool would believe otherwise. Why is it that right before a civilization collapses, homosexuality becomes legal, and of course, religion is assaulted, even banned. And if a person believes that the youth will accept homosexuality, then think again. The very thought is repulsive, just like Michael Moore. The pro homosexuality crowd needs to grow up.

If this were Mohammad they were making fun of, you would see such uprise of threats and they would take it down.....oh wait....nobody pokes fun of Mohammad because we are tolerant(scared) of Muslims. GOd is not shaken by these fools. He gets the last word and they can speak as much evil as they want....Prayerfully, they will repent before it is too late.

As a former gay man that has since repented of my sinful lifestyle, If you are a believer, you cannot reconcile this lifestyle. I can only say my heart breaks for people like the ones that have produced this. Pray that God removes the scales from their eyes and if you know someone who chooses the gay lifestyle, love them with Christ's love, pray that the Holy Spirit will do a work in them and boast in nothing but the Lord Jesus Christ.

Mike- Why should I repent of a "gay lifestyle" (i'm in a lesbian relationship) to a god that I don't believe in. Why should I be forced to do what a religion that I have no affiliation with demands I do. Before you call me an Atheist i'm actually agnostic and in my early life was a Christian.
John - gays work don't they? so they are paying taxes, taxes that help with health system and help pay those who hate them.
Gays don't want special rights, they want the same rights as straight people, to marry and have the same protection that marriage provides heterosexuals.

Simon and Shuster profits off of Christian books and then bites the hand that feeds them.

Seems highly hypocritical. Perhaps we all need to spend our money elsewhere. The vast majority of Americans believe in God, and they have managed to offend and drive away many with one video.

Well said, Barry. I feel the same way and I do pray for them and for this nation. It is possible for them to change their ways and repent and find happiness. It is indeed a choice to choose the homosexual lifestyle and behavior. It can also be a choice for homosexuals to choose to turn their backs on the lustful temptations and live a morally clean life as it appears you have done.

If you use your god as a weapon against others, you deserve to have him mocked. If you want to live in a country where people aren't allowed to mock your god, covert to Islam and head several thousand miles eastward.

I do not have to defend God, He defends me, so no reason to be offended. BUT empirical reality show that gays have health problems others do not (e. g. gay bowl etc. ). In as much as God loves gays, the Bible must be right in opposing their harmful behavior. Sort of like property rights and "Thou shalt not steal". Even with out the Bible, some things just make sense.
