URGENT: Last Chance to Stop SB48 -- Sign the Petition Today!

http://www.nomblog.com/14253/

Dear Marriage Supporter,

I need your help. Almost four years ago, many of you helped the National Organization for Marriage collect signatures to give the people of California the right to vote on marriage. Today, the volunteers at Stop SB 48 have given Californians another critically important opportunity to decide what is taught to your school-age children.

There are just a few days left to stop SB48 -- the bill signed into law by Governor Brown earlier this year that would force schools to teach students (even kindergartners!) about homosexuality, bisexuality and transgenderism as part of a social science curriculum.

Please click on the button below and follow the instructions to print and sign the petition right away, and then return it to StopSB48 campaign offices within the next 7 days.

The StopSB48.com coalition has done a great job gathering the needed signatures and are almost there! Still, they need our help, and we’re asking you to make this a priority. It takes a little over 500,000 valid signatures to put SB48 on the ballot, and StopSB48.com reports they are getting closer every day as bags of signed petitions are pouring in to the Stop SB 48 offices. But elections officials will be going through these petitions with a fine tooth comb, and it’s important that there be need plenty of extra signatures to make sure we don’t come up just short.

Please visit StopSB48.com right now to get started:

  1. Click here to download the petition (make sure Page Scaling is set to "none" when you print the petition)

  2. Click here to download instructions

  3. Sign the petition

  4. Ask 5 friends to sign the petition

  5. Return the signed petitions to Stop SB 48, 660 J Street, Suite 250, Sacramento, CA 95814 within the next 7 days.

Please do whatever you can today to help spread the word. Take petitions with you to church on Sunday. Forward this email to family and friends. We’re on the verge of success, but can’t do it without your help.

Thank you for your support of this historic effort.

Faithfully,

Brian Brown

I really hope the people of California get a chance to vote on this. This way, SB48 will never make it to the school sysytem in California.

The perfect example of religious persecution and being against Christian values. Indoctrination and recruiting or young at the public school system. This has to stop. Unbelievable!!!

It's an excellent bill that helps offset religious bigotry, and the resulting harm to children.

I wish the religionists could explain why they are so against gay and lesbian people. It makes no sense. Is there a rational reason to treat homosexuality as something bad or wrong?

Roberto, you might note that there's a difference between being against a person, and being against their behavior.

But if you would like to expound on all of the virtues of homosexual behavior, now is the perfect chance to explain to all the NOM readers. Please be thorough--cover all the psychological, physiological, social, medical, and mental benefits of that particular intimate behavior choice. Please give a thorough list of the consequences, too. That will really help us see your point of view.

And, if you could explain what sexual orientation or homosexual behavior has to do with marriage eligibility, that would really clarify things.

It's not bigotry to denounce the shameful claim of entitlement to engage in same-sex sex without censure.Children are harmed by being led to believe that being same-sex does not make same-sex sexual activity highly objectionable.(Denouncing CONDUCT is not being against PEOPLE).

Roberto, there is no rational reason NOT to treat homosexual orientation as bad,or homosexual activity as wrong...the mere fact that our species has two sexes means that any departure from the norm of sexual activity being between individuals of opposite sexes is a sad thing to always be deplored, and as a REASONING species we have a duty to avoid it regardless of any individual impulse or its cause.

"It's not bigotry to denounce the shameful claim of entitlement to engage in same-sex sex without censure."

It might be, especially if one can't be bothered to even try and articulate exactly why private, loving conduct between consenting adults is in any way shameful, and if that individual continues making ominous references to "censure" and "consequences."

Bruce,I've been very explicit. The adults being of the same sex makes any sexual activity between them shameful.Everyone should be offended by any attempt to deny this.

    "Bruce,I've been very explicit."

Indeed, you have. Explicit in your use of circular reasoning. It's wrong because it's wrong, and if we can't see that, it simply goes to prove how deluded we are. I'm paraphasing you, obviously, but that's basically what you say, over and over and over. Under this fallcious reasoning, you and "prove" anything.

Bruce: Same-sex civil marriage advocates always have a question in their mouths: "why private, loving conduct between consenting adults is in any way shameful". Blah, blah, blah.... It is only shameful if you try to confuse people that any friendship can be a civil marriage. It can be a religious marriage, but not a civil marriage. The majority of the States and the Federal government does not support opposite-sex marriages because they are so kind... they support it because, to not do so, it would cost them a whole lot more in social services. Get real. There's not enough money to go around, and also support queer partnerships that can't even procreate, and don't have the expenses of engendering one or more children. There are a lot of things incorrect with civil marriage, but to include same-sex partnerships, makes it even worse off.

Thanks NOM for making an issue out of this. I'm not a California voter (anymore) so I can't sign on to this but it's very much a worthy issue that affects not only Californians but many non-Californian Americans too. Stop SB48!!

I wish those opposed to this law would not lie about what this law is or what it does. Brian writes, "the bill signed into law by Governor Brown earlier this year that would force schools to teach students (even kindergartners!) about homosexuality, bisexuality and transgenderism as part of a social science curriculum.", which is not completely true.

This bill does not force schools to teach anything about homosexuality. The actual text of the bill reads as follows:
"Existing law requires instruction in social sciences to include a
study of the role and contributions of both men and women to the
development of California and the United States.
This bill would require instruction in social sciences to also
include a study of the role and contributions of Native Americans,
African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Pacific
Islanders, European Americans, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgender Americans, and other ethnic and cultural groups, to the
development of California and the United States."

It goes on, but it says NOTHING about teaching homosexuality to kids.

By including an activity people choose to do with immutable characteristics the government is indeed indoctrinating other people’s children into the acceptability of sexual depravity.

It would be no different if the law would mandate acknowledgement of smokers, drinker, murderers, rapists, and thieves as though they too were a species unto themselves.

So stoppign SB48 really makes you a racist, bigot, and an idiot. Religion should be kept OUT of schools. Your anti-gay ramblings are religion based so.... Get over it! I am a proud bi-sexual Pro-choice mother of 2. Oh and commence with the slamming of me... I won't be wasting my time coming back here. In fact I demand a refund of the last 3 minutes of my life....

Ok...so tell me how this is predatory and how this harms children. This allows for LGBT people's contributions to be brought to the table and discussed like Henry VIII who valued marriage and the traditional family.

SB48 does nothing to 'destroy the family' or 'indoctrinate children' existing law has LGBT history in place, and allows districts to implement it they way they will already

Why are you so preoccupied with same sex marriage, and anything related to such? It's YOU with the problem

Well "Angel", don't come back then. Your antireligious rantings are ridiculous particularly with the name you chose. Change your name! There's nothing angelic about you.

As for that bill in CA, how do they discern the historical contributions of the sexually challenged? Were they heading into battle or legislating with their genitals? Totally incomprehensible!
