Greg, how can it be "bigoted" to believe that marriage and our sexual powers have an intrinsic purpose that human beings may violate? After all, you believe that those who disagree with you don't use their cognitive powers properly. Thus, according to your reasoning, your own view is bigoted. Look, if by a sheer act of will--and few surgical procedures--you can pretend that a real woman is a man, why can't your opponents just claim that their ignorance is knowledge and your disrespect for their willfulness is just archaic, outdated, essentialism? Also, most can agree that a same same sex marriage law would naturally erode sexual morality in society, resulting in a more carnal and less moral society around all children.

In turn, a less moral society would tend to increase high risk behaviors by children and around children, incline toward more single parent households with less marriage between men and women and children without the security of married parents on a continually increasing scale.

In sum, a same sex marriage law would set up a slippery slope harmful to children on many different levels.

Anyone who characterizes public policy furthering the necessary aim of reserving to opposite-sex relationships the preferential treatment to which their being opposite-sex entitles them as "stripping a minority of their civil rights" is NOT a constitutional scholar,regardless of what faculty position he may hold implying him to be such.No one who confuses standards of conduct with "bigotry" has credibility.

Bruce - I, Little man, hereby stand corrected Greg is probably a constitutional scholar, because he has seen through the contradiction of a US constitutional amendment to strip a minority of (all) their civil rights.
